1 - Skill: running to connect with the ball kicked from behind you from 40 metres away, hitting it pefectly in the right angle and with just the right power, and sacrificing all of the body to do this is just absolutely incredible.
2 - The mental aspect: thinking of scoring like this, under these circumstances, takes intelligence, creativity and guts.
3 - Casillas is nailed to the ground. The checkmate play is exemplified by the fact that the keeper doesn't even begin to try to stop it.
4 - The goal is unique. There's tons of kicks or volleys that end up niceley in the crossing, but even those can get a little boring. The esthetic value of this goal is unparalleled.

SteamGames13 It doesn't matter that James won, his comment still stands and makes sense. We've seen a lot of volley goals. The goal RVP made is something you don't see often.
Also, RVP is argueably one of the best finishers in these type of scenario's. It's often that he gets a ball out of the air, and shoots or heads it imediately and it goes in.

The pass from Blind was at least 50% of the goal. The whole combination: pass & header is like a perfect synchronization. Blind also could have just run down the line, but no, he saw the man, the space and the opportunity. The result is history.

Being very lucky of-course Robben was injured for months even in the first match or matches of the world cup. If Robben would have been fit he would have made the goal in the regular time. As happend 4 years later. Stil they gave a hard time to one of the best Spain national team we seen ever.

I'm not much into football. But saw this goal live somehow. In 2020, I still remember this goal. I struggled a bit to find this video in CZcams (I didn't remember the teams and the player involved. Dumb me). But finally able to watch now. It's awesome!!

What a Masterpiece..! But you know what? He made many more goals that equal this one.. His sublime technic and positioning of the body combined with that sweet left foot created many masterpieces. He doesn't just score goals, he crafts them and finishes them like a true football artist.. For example his 3 volleys for Arsenal and Manu or his goal against liverpool in 2009.. Oh man wat a goal that was🤤... the way he captures the ball in the air and controls it with the chest in between 2 defenders and drags it away from them to finish with his right is just.. 😱🤫..
