Applaus.
It is insane how well you speak Dutch after just the two years you have been in our country. 👍😺 Is that because of your background in linguistics? 😳 Btw, I love your video’s. You are such a bubbly nice person and I look forward to each and every post.
Your Dutch is so good, there is no way you've been here for just two years? Would you consider making a video about your Dutch learning adventure?
I agree, I knew your Dutch was good, but now that I hear it I’m still amazed at how good it really is.
Your Dutch is really good! You sound like a native Dutch speaker.
What a generous comment, thanks =D
@@DutchAmericano unfortunately we can't do much because of the Corona virus
@@DutchAmericano Soft, friendly, clear... well deserved compliment from me too!
Geniet ervan!
Please do more of these type of "active" videos (vlogs, documentairies, walkthroughs, etc.), it is brilliant!
That was one difference I noticed in weather reports from the US, in Europe they usually only give the high temperature and not the low temperature.
Wow you're Dutch is SOOOOOO good! :D
Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. We met in Utrecht and you visited our favourite places, so fun to see
Good to see the vaartsche rijn again. Lived around there for about 15 years. Btw when you go to the dom square try to get a ticket for under the dom. A really interesting tour underneath the foundations of the dom. It is a historical and ibteractive adventure.
the yellow polka dot would make a very nice liner for the tote bag.
We have a lot of nice cities you can spend a saturday in. Utrecht is definitely one of them (as I experienced again in April, when I visited the Spoorwegmuseum). What you forgot to mention is that at one time, the dom tower and the dom church were supposed to be connected but that part was never finished and collapsed after a storm in 1674. The markings of the pillars however can clearly be seen on the domplein.
It was finished, but they did not include the "flying buttresses" and it could not withstand the storm.
Another sidenote: "Dom" actually translates as "Cathedral", which this church was up until the Reformation (at that point it became Protestant, Dutch Calvinist to be precise, in which Cathedrals aren't a thing).
@@Depipro the current cathedral is down the street at the Catharijneconvent (although they’re moving to another church on the Oudegracht - the one next to Rembrandt movie theatre).
Je Nederlands is zo casual, super goed
That book was great!
Your Dutch is amazing, great to hear you speak dutch! And such a wonderful cat 😻. I love to see how you like Utrecht. I live here for many years and I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you for this video ! 😊🌺
Haha, lovely, but are there even still Americans watching this? Just wondering, after scanning through the comments.
Ah Utrecht me stadsie. I really enjoy seeing you enjoying "my" town. Your Dutch is excellent btw. Did you know the little street around the Domtower is called Rondomdom (around the Dom). And when you were showing the "werf" (warf, the part where you showed the canal) if you would have swung a bit to the left you could have shown your audience the typical Dutch "shop type" called Coffeeshop (Andersom in this case :P ) If you walk in town and suddenly see and hear an old dude with a grey goatee say "Hi Americano" , good chance it is me (no worries, I won't stop for an awkward chat or anything like that ;) )
@@geertvanschaik7976 well duh :P
More videos like this please!
Wow your Dutch is really great. Sounds heel netjes😉 Utrecht nice to visit. Keep up making these videos. I love them!
Thank you for the morning coffee. It was a bless to finally have a sit with you!😃
Happy 2 year anniversary!
Your dutch is insanely good
Talking about/showing your day and the weather is a prominant topic. You can't get more dutch than that ;-)
Complimenten voor je uitspraak.
Heard you speaking so much Dutch the first time. Had already an idea hearing you calling Dutch words in the past, but hearing you ordering in Dutch without any really accents! Compliments! Sojnded
Cats, especially when kept indoors, need access to grass for their digestion sytem to function properly. You can also buy little baskets with earth and seeds which you only need to water and put on the 'vensterbank' (area below windows) to catch sunshine and grow within no time.
Thanks for the morning coffee in town. I enjoyed that.
I was there a week ago, so nice to see it again 😍 I hope to visit Utrecht next year!
thumb up and im the new subscriber! saw already many of your videos. Love Utrecht! greets, Martyna
We'll be waiting for more of your vlogs, they are great! Have a nice Sunday, it's so beautiful today in NL 🤩🤗 Love from Almere
Hey Ava :-) Nice to see you again! You are a beam of sunlight in my weekend :-) Nice to see Utrecht again and what nice places there are nowadays! And what a talent you are speaking Dutch like a pro! Not just the words but the intonation and everything else. Well done girl!
Leuke video. Much love for Chunky. 🐱
Great video, just relaxing and showing us a little bit of Utrecht. The weather actually was lovely this weekend, I went out similar to you but then in Lelystad where I live.
Loved the feel of that coffee place you went to, looks really good.
Keep up with these videos, I really like them.
I've been to Utrecht many times. Went to the top of the Dom it was so cool. Thanks for bringing back memories of my travels. Outstanding video young lady.
THanks for sharing! I gotta go check out Utrecht more! And great Dutch for 2 years!
Wow! wat spreek je goed nederlands! Na twee jaar al ;)
this was really nice! I envy people who frequent the lapjesmarkt and produce functional objects from the fabrics. and the Dom tower is so pretty underneath the scaffolding; I really miss it! 2024 feels so far away...
You're in a good mood ! It makes it even more enjoyable to watch. :-)
Nice to see. I live about 200 yards from Domplein.❤️ Also nice to see lapjesmarkt in de breedstraat. I used to live there for a while as well.
Love this video featuring Mr. Chunky! 😍
Hehe, thanks!
Your Dutch when buying coffee was insanely good!.
Lunch tip, Dimitri Petit in the Servetstraat near Dom tower. Just across the Greek restaurant by the same owner. We love the restaurant too. However there was a food health and safety issue in the past. I guess that is sorted out now.
A lovely video about Utrecht! Thanks for that... BTW, your Dutch is great! I hope you managed to hang that picture on the wall ;)
Looking forward to the next video.
Bedankt voor deze toeristische rondleiding in Utrecht. 👍
Did you know that the dom square also used to be a part of the Church as the church and tower used to be one piece but a storm blew the middle section out and it was never restored.
Also recommend going to broese on like Thursday evening or so. I just went today to buy a record I saw earlier and it was so crowded
It's pretty warm here in the south 👍 lots of sun today.
You have this infectious enthusiasm that always manages to lift my mood 😁 Thanks for showing me a bit a Utrecht, it really is a gorgeous city. Oh, and yeah: It's amazing how good your Dutch is after just two years of living here, it's quite impressive really... Haha, I heard you say "Scheveningen" in the beach video earlier and I just sat there flabbergasted.
That was really impressive. You speak ABN better than I do, but I'm from Brabant.
at least you got your coffee before 10:00 AM! the other week in an other major european city I went to a starbucks downtown, and they were closed on a weekend day around that time ! 😂😂
I wonder how your background in linguistics has influenced your language learning trajectory. Being a (Dutch-speaking) Belgian, I am really impressed how you managed to really get the Holland-Dutch accent to the point that based on accent I can't distinguish between you and a normal utrechter. Having learned 3-4 languages myself (as an engineer, so no background in linguistics) I always managed to become fluent in the languages, but pronunciation and accent was a whole other thing. You can always hear very clearly that I was not a native speaker.
I used the live in Utrecht and really liked this video. The end came suddenly and unexpectedly, though...
Yeah I was wondering what would happen next...
Wat tof! Very cute video. Whatever that means.
Echt superknap!
I have lived in Utrecht for 10 years... I loved it there.
Your Dutch is getting pretty good
I love utrecht. And maybe use the green one for the inside of the bag. It's perfect. ;)
My mother used to make this really good parmesan cheese bread that was *SO* good. It looked a bit like those scones.
Wow, your dutch is amazing!
What a nice way to enjoy your Saturday 👍
It sure was! =)
Wow on your Dutch, you sound amazingly Dutch for being just 2 years in the Netherlands. And also a good thing that you still speak fluently American. (and sure some might think, this is odd to say, but... My sister lives now for a few years in America, and she almost forgot on how to speak Dutch...so that shows how fast you can unlearn a language, if you do not practice it often.)
It is so much fun to see you walking the way I did when I was young(er) in the part of the city I used to live.
If you like music and want to go out on a workday (mo/tu/we), you should visit 't Oude Pothuys. I guess that is well within walking distance.
On 'Open nights', many students of the conservatory, the ~ (academy of music) come there and 'jam'. (When I lived there, that's where I went as a drummer)
(You probably know this already but if you didn't: enjoy! It's great quality music.)
At the coffee place, I heard you speak Dutch. You're a linguist, but still. Impressed!
Nice video, relaxed and sweet. Cheers from the West Coast of Canada.
I like the "Outdoor" views. :)
"Shock" ...Was under the impression because of the picture in the back, that you got beamed up/down to NYC....anyway, nice "wandeling", greetings from your former residence (Amsterdam)....
I wish all immigrants would speak dutch,so very good like you do👍👍👍👍
Lovely city, isn't it? ^^ I usually only go there on music-related visits, to check out the Plato (record store), for concerts, and the biannual Verzamelaarsbeurs (Collector's Fair); the next one will be held at Jaarbeurs, mid-November. Maybe see you there? ;)
Those two years have really paid off! In conversation, I can't hear a hint of your accent anymore and it sounds just like the natives! Gold star for you!
The Lapjesmarkt is in that street for about 700 years already!
As for your Dutch I think it helps a lot if you speak in on a daily basis with your girlfriend. People that come with a family and speak their own language at home usually struggle a lot more because they keep translating in their head. Speaking from experience ;)
If you have the time. In the city of Zwolle (my hometown) there is an store called Waanders in de Broeren. Its a book store in a former monastary. Could be cool for an book hunt should want to that.
For a while in the past few decades, Waanders and Broese were part of a single chain, Selexyz. Basically consisted of a merger of the premium bookstore in each of the 10 or 20 or so biggest cities. Whole conglomerate went belly up and most of those bookstores continued as solo projects again.
wowwww, i love your eyebrows.
In Amsterdam they got an alternative to 'The Sticker'. It was too easy to remove it in passing, so now they paint a little mark on your tire and take a picture. If it's still in the exact same place, two weeks later, the bike gets taken away.
I'm sure others will say so, but I believe an 'Americano' is as close as you get to filter coffee.
a-ha Gerrit. Thanks for explaining. I wondered how they could tell the difference weather you didn't move the bike for 2 weeks or just park it at the same spot each time.
The moment you realize you've become Dutch, when you mess up a.m. and p.m.! 🤣👌🏼😁✌🏼
i never got used to the weather after the "summer" , i hate biking in my jacket and then getting all sweaty, but to cold to do without. dutchie btw
Nice that you show this. I never go out for a meal. Mostly my weekend is for resting, hobby’s and cleaning my appartement. Thank you for this video.
Yup your Dutch is getting good. Also fun to see you outside. When you were in the bookstore I also noticed the sign that said "Ramsj". Do you already know that word? I bet you have some Dutch words that either make you giggle or cringe 🤣 My girlfriend couldn't pronounce "druk en sluit" which was on some plastic freezer bags, without laughing...
Funny, no I don't know that word!
Your Dutch is awesome
AAH the ONE WEEKEND that I didn't go to the stofmarkt, you were there? Damn, missed my chance of running into a famous youtuber! ;)
Just. A great channel…
Your Dutch is very good
For any non dutch people watching the sticker on your bike is something they do in big cities and at alot of train stations cause alot of bikes get abadoned so it is to combat those building up to much.
Did you already visit the pancake restaurant at the canal?
Use the fabrics as lining for the bag! Or maybe a cute pocket on the outside ❤️ Ahh Utrecht, this was such a nostalgic video for me! I used to live close to the city and do all my shopping there, so I know the lapjesmarkt and Broese (which has changed a lot in 20 years, yikes am I getting old?) Lovely video, thank you!
Your Dutch is excellent!
And every now and then, I spy a little bit of a Dutch accent in your American, pronouncing some s-ses the Dutch way!
I am an American and when I was a student in Ghent, it wasn't possible for me to learn Flemish in the short time I was there, but with my American accent, so many people had trouble understanding my English. So I started speaking English with a Flemish accent. One time somebody told me, "You are speaking English like a Belgian."
You speak well Dutch .
You're starting to pronounce "books" as "boeks", becoming a real Dutchie!
Yes, it's nice to out and have an early start, unfortunately I'm usually too lazy to get out of bed.
For those wondering, the Dom tower is actually the clock/bell tower of the Dom church, which is actually a cathedral built starting in 1254 AD.
Your Dutch is starting to be really good! Some practice of the CH is in order though. Living in a city that requires to say that a lot may help. As one helpful French guy told me,.. just practice coughing up a flume of goo from your throat and it will sound similar. Oh and one little critical remark. Just ask the shopkeeper if you are allowed to make video footage to use for your channel. If they want to, you can edit out the faces. Most will gladly agree as any positive publicity is welcome. I concur that it wouldn't be as spontaneous, but it would be in order. Add that to the bucket list of cultural quirks, people like being asked for consent before the act.
Yes, the consent part ❤️
I bet it feels nicer for Ava as well, she seemed to feel awkward 😉
Even though we're probably miles apart, me struggling with the words"person with a uterus" probably says it all, I set the differences aside and enjoy most of your vlogs! Greetings from Nijmegen (moet je echt een keer naartoe)
Thanks! Nijmegen is a great city-I was able to visit it once this year and I loved it. And haha, I said "person with a uterus" to include non-female identifying trans and non-binary people as well =) I identify as a woman =D
@@DutchAmericano I know what you meant, thanks for the explanation, but it's not for me. But still we can be respectful right 😗 keep up the good work and nice to hear you enjoyed our oldest city!
@@DutchAmericano Very American. Find this trend very woman unfriendly. Very unfeminist
@@DutchAmericano This way you exclude people who had a hysterectomy.

Lapjesmarkt... You also know what a "lapjeskat" is?
