2021....many things changed....but here we are....hearing this great old song....
🙏🙏🙏
🫂
We're still here and still alive.
Indeed.
15 years!! i was 12 years old
It's 2023 and haven't watched this for over 15 years. Now I'm unlocking some core memories from hearing this melody. Thank you Andy, 2007 was a great year.
Yes absolutely! I had the exact same thought just moments ago
@@radiotrin37me too. Good old time
It's true!
18 years already... it's like it was yesterday
Crazy, right?!
2022. I remember watching this back when I was a senior in highschool. 15 years later and this is still a timeless work of art.
Absolutely agree, timeless masterpiece
This has been the first video I've ever liked here on CZcams back in 2007.
I come back here once in a while and listen to it. Still great. (;
@@GodlordBazi Same here. I still come back every now and again to listen to it. It was my very first liked and favorited video.
Agreed, and I still can’t play this shit.
Sheee. This was always up there with Killrbuckeye and similar guitarists back then.
Oh Boy, It’s 2020 and i‘m watching this again.
Der Owly me too!!!
We're in three
Me too
Same.
Same here! I freaking love this video. The song is great, but watching him play is where it's at for me!
This really inspired a whole generation of guitarists.
Like Michael Hedges?
@@joelsero Yeah... sometimes it's not about who comes up with a technique or does it first... it matters on a variety of factors... right time, place, and lots of luck
Indeed
Look up this new kid Marcin when he did a recreation of Kashmir by Led Zepplin. Always reminds me of Mckee
Lol I remember trying to learn this in 2012 and not being able to do it.
A message to the future generations, don't let this song die....
It will live until people stop playing guitars.
This one is solidified in the halls of the gods my friend. Eternal banger.
2024 who’s here for this masterpiece
Same! Never gets old
Hello!
I’m seeing this now for the first time
110%
Me! 17 years going strong, lol.
I remember when this was the most popular video on YT
uh huh! There's ONLY ONE PAGE for the top vids back then! Unlike today where it's a different 'featured page' for everyone :)
In year 19-never
@@yoozy1 No, it really was one of the first viral videos. www.businessinsider.com/prince-discovered-guitarist-on-youtube-2014-11

this song makes me nostalgic for a simpler time in my life. Cant believe it took me so many years to revisit it
Same!.. great melody. I showed a few people when infirst discovered this gem
One could say this song has you..Drifting into the past 😝😂🤣
I feel the same way about John Butler’s oceans.
Haven’t listened to this in at least 12+ years. Out of the blue today I thought “what was the name of that guy who would drift on the guitar on CZcams?” A couple simple searches and I’m back. 👌
Press that play button, and reap the benefits. Time is non linear, then is now. Trust the music.
2024 coming back again and again to admire the amazing talent
Here I am 16 years later still finding this as such a beautiful creation. I still remember finding this in HS and sharing it with my dad.

I am also back after all these years... This video pioneered fingerstyle music...

2024. I remember being in high school about 2008-2009 ish listening to this and being in awe. Here we are, still in awe over 16 years later...time flies, but legendary songs like this never die ✌️
2023 and I looked that song up for over an hour. It’s now 1:14am and I am so glad I didn’t give up. Heard it the first time in 2011. It’s simply a great piece of art! Glad I found it again. ❤
whatched this in 2006, never ever thought i would be able to play it, 14 years later.... and i still can't =)
Nils Enström bara att öva, jag tror på dig :)
Spent a solid 3 months learning this song. Literally the only song I can play but it feels so good playing it
it isn't hard to learn you just need to practice and accept that it will take time but it should only take like....a week of dedicated practice
@@poisenbery Bruh mb try to play it yourself before giving dumb advices and saying its ez as fuck?
@@griglog1309 he's actually right, with enough dedication you could play it, you just need to think you CAN play and then practice

One of the original CZcams greats right here folks. Never gets old even 14 years later. Rock on Andy McKee
17 years now and this song still giving me goosebumps.
I remember when this video was at 2 million views and I thought THAT was amazing.
Lol. Truly. Back In CZcams's very early years before mass uploading and Vevo and music videos when this classic Andy McKee video was the most viewed video on CZcams. I remember that too.
can you remember roughly how many views it had when you posted this?
@@MojaKann I son't remember, but I want to say like 16 million

Anyone else still watching this in 2020? Classic.
Andy is the reason I started playing guitar.

February 2022 and still here!
first time watching this at 2007 back when i was in senior high, i missed this so much, and here i am back again in 2024.
Higschool, 2007. Came home just to listen to andy. Previous to having wifi all over, no high speed 4g and hyperconnectivity. Just me, my bicycle and my red nokia 5200
What a fucking great ride it was. Now im here, 2024, life is still fucking good. Wish you all the readers out there the best of the luck, live your life, love your parents, be good to the elders. Life will reward you
I remember when I first saw this video there was a comment saying that he played so well, all the hairs on his head came down to listen more closely. This was 10 years ago and I still find it hilarious.
Love the song, brings back so many memories. How times have changed so quickly!
I remember making that comment at the libary of my college when I first listened to this song. Those were so many years ago and coming back to this song brings back a lot of those memories.
The other one I remember, but I think from Rylynn, was "I want somebody to look at me the way this guy looks at his guitar!"
It used to be the consistent top voted comment on this video. People would repost it and get thousands of likes and make it all the way to the top. I once did it myself lol.
Dude, I remember this! Lolol
its been 8years, still legend
Still Suprised!
Yes indeed.. 8 years and every time I back to it my jaw still drop :))
8yrs since ur comment
Even when I have zero time/spoons to engage in social media platforms, I'll still find space to scroll Andy's feeds and hit him with a like on every new video and post I see because he shaped my entire musical anatomy and I'll never be the same after this song. Simply stunning. Find him on all the sites and like every single thing if you feel the same. He deserves it.
This man inspired millions (litterally) of guitarrist around the world. Including me, when I was 12 in 2006. All I have to say is thank you, Andy.
And I was 18 years old on 2006, great memories 💪🏼
I was also 12 years old. I could't believe my eyes and ears this is possible to do on a guitar. I fell in love with fingerstyle music so much. Antoine Dufour, Don Ross and Andy McKee were a holy trinity for me.
I can finally play this song, after 14 years of dreaming of it. What gets me is how he is able to do the whole thing in one go without screwing up, I struggle so much
That’s awesome that you’re making progress though! Keep at it!!
@@thejakestutsmanbandofficia3840 Haha thanks dude!
@@jaredmessenger6487 Great job. This is definitely on my bucket list

I never played acoustic guitar (nylon) using tapping. I can't hear to be honest. I am doing wrong or it needs a certain kind of guitar (steel)?
15 years later... almost 60 million views later.... still coming back and listening... still amazing
My bass player showed me this in high school. Graduated in 2006, he is still my bass player today.

This video really is a certified hood classic. I discovered it in 7th grade when I begun my acoustic journey. I’m 26 now!
Andy McKee is truly inspiring; I play fingerstyle because of him.
I was here at 1k views back when it was released and there it stayed for a long time... Now in 2024...a centuries old style has gotten this many views.
2006-2007 was the year i started my own business and was the start of an amazing 10 year's. Lost the shop and everything in 2015-16. Heard something on tiktok that made me come here again. This song will never get boring in my mind.

This song made me start guitar all those years ago, forever grateful!
I still remember when I first saw this and the top comments all talking about how his beard moved to his chin to hear the music better. haha
STOP. PLEASE, GOD...JUST STOP!

This song made me give up guitar.
This song gave me inspiration to play guitar, got me into it, and now, 3-4 months after starting, i can play this song (of course not as well)🙂 I’m learning For My Father now.
FINALLY I FOUND THIS VERSION!!! To me this is his best rendition
FK YEAH!! I’m still watching in 2024!! First found this and other music from Andy while deployed to Iraq. He’s one of the most badass guitarist there is. I enjoy introducing his music to people who haven’t heard of him!
This piece is timeless!
I started an experiment to test your hypothesis...didn't have to wait for beard growth to prove you wrong: first I got hungry, then I got thirsty, then I...had a accident and had to curtail further experimentation. Two accidents, actually...if truth be told (I have an enquiring mind: SUE ME!)
Anyway; turns out you're wrong; _dead wrong!_
Also, you can't eat ASMR... *_"Wilson!"_*
Just saw Andy for the first time last night , opening fog Tommy Emanuel. What a remarkable guitarist! I had to look him up today. A night to remember

Still listening to this song in 2021... I was listening to this song as a lullaby every day when I was a child...
2024....and hearing this song so many years later fills me with such emotion. My life was so different back then...and so much of how life was back then...I wish never changed. So many stories of the golden years of my life to tell...and so begins the difficult task to progress onwards struggling to look forward...when what you see in your rear view mirror drifting further and further away from you...has your heart aching ever so much...

One of CZcams's very first "viral videos." This is the video that got me started with Andy, and Candyrat, like so many others. Here I am, some 15 years later, still jamming out!
I’ve seen his newer versions of these songs and they’re never as good as watching the original versions. This version of drifting, rylynn, and art of motion are the best on CZcams.

Proof that a video can have a resolution as low as 240P but, if your sound is on point and able to capture something like this so well it doesn't matter.

When I first saw this video, I was 14 or 15. At the time there was a local music venue in town that my life basically revolved around. It was a big deal for a lot of us kids. This video was UNREAL to us, and spread like wildfire. Clearly, we weren’t the only music scene that was captivated. I’m now 28 and working a corporate job, with a house and three pets lol. The past 14 years have been filled with hurdles - some self induced and others out of my control. Sometimes I miss the simpler times, but this song still gives me a sense of hope and appreciation for life that it gave me when I first heard it.
2024 and I still check in occasionally.
2023 - This is still just as beautiful as the first time I heard it.
