In Latin America we had the English version, but it seems Spain got a Spanish-translated version of the lyrics using the English version of the ending as the instrumentation
Interesting...
It reminds me of the brazilian dub of Sailor Moon...except it's the oposite, as it was uncensored and had original japanese audio and video, but still used the character names from the DIC version. I think even the Crystal & Eternal dubs still use the DIC names.
Also in Latin America there is another version where it has the japanese intro but instrumental and a narrator speaks about Speed Racer
I like how the original was more about the car, while the English version made it about the racer himself.

This opening sequence is so addictive! I've watched it like 20 times in the past three months. Catchy song and stylish synched graphics- so simply satisfying!
The color and images are very sharp, and the graphics do a better job at introducing the ensemble characters -- Trixie, Pops, Spritle, Chim-Chim, Sparky, even Racer X. But the flow between scenes isn't as good as in the US version. The Japanese version's visuals are more interesting, but don't flow as well, with mere lap-dissolves serving to transition between scenes (racing environments).
@@roberthaworth8991 Wow you're observant- will check that out the next time I watch it! I like the Japanese version too, but the English tune is a little catchier I think. What is a lap-dissolve?
@@EJofLA A fade-out of a scene that overlaps with a fade-in of a new scene, so that one appears to dissolve into the other. Actually, the Japanese version uses more of an iris-type dissolve that obscures the previous scene as the iris (expanding circle) showing the new one gets bigger.
@@roberthaworth8991 Thanks Robert
Spanish version is incredibly influenced by the Spanish boy bands of that time. It couldve easily been a pop song.
At least you are not like the other's
They had Spanish boy bands in 1967?
@@gtc1961 they were mostly pop-rock-garage, but you know at heart they're pop boy bands.
Actually, it uses the instrumental from the English version’s end credits.
The Spanish lyrics are actually cool... ¡Es un magnifico piloto-luchador!
He's a magnificent driver-fighter!

Im glad they still have the part where Speed runs the guy off the track and kills him. They just left out the fiery explosion.
@@pokemannco.607 They didn’t. This is montage created for the video, not the original title sequence. Besides, how do you know that the guy wasn’t killed by something wrong with his car that wasn’t Speed’s fault?
I will forever love the English theme the most. But as someone who wanted to learn Japanese thanks to this show, and now has (at least a bit), I am really glad that the translators decided to throw out the original lyrics in favor of something mostly original. Gotta keep the "Go! Go! Go!" part.
But hey, the words are catchy either way, at least in the respective language. That is, if you can say them without stumbling over your syllables.
I absolutely love the fact that the Movie's Credits cover of the main theme used both the "Go, Speed Racer, Go" AND "Mach, Go, Go, Go!" chants in their lyrics so seamlessly.
You can’t just say that “you’re really glad that the translators decided to throw out the original lyrics in favor of something mostly original” without elaboration, as if keeping the original lyrics would’ve obviously been a bad thing. Japanese and English are two completely different languages, so translators will either adapt the lyrics or come up with new ones that still describe the show. Peter Fernandez obviously chose the latter approach, but even if he didn’t, he still would’ve had to make sure that the lyrics fit with the music, so you’re “glad” for something that’s a given, so this is a nothing burger.
The brass in the the Japanese version really bring it home
this trumps every anime in exsistance
Carlos Glitchtastic yes
Truly the only good anime
Old anime is so much better than the newer crap we see people drooling over nowadays.
I grew up with this cartoon, thinking this is how racing worked, and was later disappointed by the lack of crashes and explosions in real Formula 1. I must have been a psycho as a kid.
Actually, there where plenty of crashes in real life Formula 1, and some people today still see racing accidents as "exciting", rather than as something to be avoided because, you know, there are humans lives at stake.
I'll cut you a slack since you were a kid, but it sincerely breaks my heart to see that some people today still consider "entertainment" as more important than actual lives.

finally, after 30 years I finally found this song that haunts my early childhood. seriously I keep this song around my head for like 30 years and occasionally sing it with some random gibberish when I feel relax and private cuz I can't read and remember the english lyrics back when I was like 5 and I'm also a local Chinese.
NOW I know... it's called speed racer, not **goodssppiirazor**, I feel empty. FML.
Speed singing his own theme song.
Nope :^
I find it very interesting how the beat of the music of the 3 different versions of 3 different languages have three different speeds. The Japanese version (original version) is fast, the English version is a little slower while the one in Spanish is relatively slow. Three different takes about the series.
Weirdly the English version has an even slower/lower pitch version seemingly only present in 1966-like versions (Like before the 90s with the original white logo, but weirdly not the one that's on Crunchyroll Dub's YT channel and presumably on the Blu-Rays) I'm not sure which one is the original pitch considering even more confusingly there's a CZcams Music Topic upload with the faster version but not the 1966 pitch

Latin Spanish would been way better. I mean why did they put the credits song as the intro just no
You didn't hear the Arabic version 😅
Japanese opening 👍
It takes a "special' kind of guy to put this together.
This version must have been remastered to eliminate the murder that occurred about 40 seconds into the original.
I was no happy to see that when I was a kid in Japan.
Yes this is from a DVD release later, where that wasn't as kosher for a childrens show at least in the west. I believe it hasn't ever been edited out of Macha Go Go Go (Japanese) re-airs, rereleases etc.
@@victors.s.3724 No, this is a montage created for the video. If you paid attention, you would know that most of the clips here aren’t in the original title sequence. Not to mention, you don’t have enough information to know that it’s “murder.” For all we know, something could’ve gone wrong with the other driver’s car that was out of Speed Racer’s control, or Speed was acting in self-defense against a would-be assassin.
@@gamblincabbie9505 Except that’s not true, because that scene is clearly present in the original title sequence, and like I said, this is a montage created for the video, not the opening used on the show.
Wow… I was not expecting the Espanol version to be quite like that…
I love it…
I appreciate how it sounds completely unique from the Original Japanese or the Adapted English… sounds like it is doing it’s own thing rather than trying to go with the overall feel of either.
¡Muy Genial!
If I'm not mistaken, "Speed Racer" was a Japanese-made cartoon that was dubbed into English to be shown in the United States of America and other English-speaking countries.
It is
Yes, the sixties US importers were looking for something they could air on the cheat, not produced by Hanna Barbara, Disney or WB (Looney Tunes), and a Japanese import like Speed Racer that they just had to replace certain scenes in different order and redub fit the bill nicely, especially as there wasn't terribly much Japanese wording in the animation scenes that an outside of Japanese redubber would have to worry about.
czcams.com/video/lgT7Kz0mAro/video.htmlfeature=shared
Speed Racer actually kept all of its sountrack from the Japanese version. I listened to both, and the music sounded exactly the same.
@@NicklasZandeVGCP2001 Except for the fact that the instrumental for the main theme was re-recorded for the English dub.

It's interesting that the Spanish version uses the closing theme as the opening theme music...
They probably didn't have an instrumental of the opening theme so they had to use the ending theme.
@@SonicStyleSuper Credit where it's due, that's actually a pretty clever trick when the regular instrumentals aren't available.
I believe this explains why some 4kids dubs had their opening themes abreviated when they were dubbed in Brazil (that is, a dub of a dub). They didn't have the full instrumentals, so they had to sing over the abreviated instrumentals and shorten the openings to around 30 seconds.
@@asideclaro Its just an educated guess. Since the Speed Racer English dub was made several decades ago, it's pretty likely that the original instrumental version of the theme song wasn't preserved. The original dubbers probably never expected that the instrumental theme song would need to be saved to make other foriegn dubs easier to produce since international dubs of Japanese shows were uncommon at the time.
Again I don't know it for a fact but it seems pretty likely considering the age of the Speed Racer dub.
@@eymed2023 I feel sorry you had to suffer the pain of 4Kids
@@SonicStyleSuper Your pretty close, is actually more due to the American (English) dubbers trying to do it on the cheap, so they could care less about the source material, especially in preservation as that would of cost money in the 1960s to do, something against what they were trying to do by getting a Japanese series to dub to avoid paying Warner, Hanna Barbara or Disney

Very good.....
So, were those the only languages the theme was translated into, or are others just hard to find?

@@pleochroicbat Really? Maybe for Portuguese audiences only. In Brazil I grew up watching it in the 70s, it was always the English version.

The best one is Japanese, but thank God they kept the English intro in Latin America.
The Spain Spanish was awful
Cuz spain dub horrible the things in the cartoons
Aw, really? I thought the Spanish version was pretty good...
You are wrong.. They didn't keep the English intro in Latin America. It has its own intro different from Spain. I grew up with that series, obviously it was re-runs since the series is from the 60's.
But I agree the Japanese version is nice. Well it's the original one.

The singing in the Japanese version sounds so dramatic, it sounds like opera.

Juro que tengo el dvd en español pero la intro esta en ingles, aunque el español le queda bien
Me gusta el opening en ingles
The Spanish language sounds like the arrangement for the closing credits in the English Language edition.
Cause it is, they moved the end music which wasn't as affected when the US dubbers made the original 60s dub from the Japanese series, which hurt the instrumental tracks that other nations would need to make a fully authentic dub in their language. They are "redubs" of the English version, and not re-sourced from the original Japanese.
