    I'm sorry but your test has a few issues:
    1) You seem to be mixing linear and circular polarized antenna. You have to use the same type as on the TX side.
    2) You use the same antenna orientation for both paths for each monitor. Also not a good thing, especially with the two monopoles on the boscam. Do a 90-degree angle, and also angle the cloverleaf antenna so you always have one of the two at a good angle for optimum sensitivity.
    3) Also if you want to compare the receivers you should use the same antenna on each of them. Then perhaps do a separate comparison for the cloverleafs if need be. As it is now this setup is inconsistent and, considering you're mixing fundamentally different antenna types, not helpful in receiver comparison.

    • @ToumalRakesh
      @ToumalRakesh Před 10 lety +9

      Also please don't take this as discouragement, but as a suggestion for improvement. PLEASE redo the test, with the points outlined above in mind, that would be really helpful for anyone who is looking for a FPV monitor!

      @kwaw310400  Před 10 lety +6

      Hi, many thanks for your comment. You are right abt not mixing the antennas. Quite honestly, this compare wasn't meant to be published. It was my own objective to try out different permutations cos of a project onhand. I've already been trying out different setup this vid trying different setups (swapping ant). The goal is to get the best FPV setup for myself. You will notice that everything is really quite stock
      i) The DJI AVL58 comes with DJI stock clover.
      ii) The D701 comes and tested with its stock rubber duckies
      iii) The boscam comes and tested with its stock with rubber duckies.
      iv) The only exception was BlackPearl...quite honestly when I used it with the stock rubber duckies in my earlier tries...It loses connections at abt 20m. I swap it with clover in my final test.

    My Boscam monitor still had a clear picture at 345 meters when I flew the other day with stock antennas. Maybe the stick antennas don't do well with whatever antenna you might be running on your transmitter. I'm running the ImmersionRC 600mw transmitter on my Phantom. Yeah, I hope people don't take this comparison the wrong way with the Boscam monitor. For the price, it really is a great monitor.

  • @kwaw310400

    I'm using the ikan monitor VK7i ips monitor with an external DJI video tx. The ikan is extremely bright with the in plane switching screen. Can see without a hood in very bright daylight.

    • @eagleye271967
      @eagleye271967 Před 10 lety

      But is the D701 also connected to the external DJI video tx/rx? Or is it
      using its internal antennas? Because it seems the D701 is not much worser than the VK7i an much better then the other two monitors.

    • @kwaw310400
      @kwaw310400  Před 10 lety

      eagleye271967 The D701 is using it's internal rx and it's stock antennas. The prowess of the Ikan is it's screen...very very bright and contrasty, something most FPV monitors can't beat. I will do a compare video soon

      +Mac Aw your receiver used with ikan is very good, very sensitive!!! you mean ikan + DJI video Rx? what your rx exactly ikan? and what your video tx? 1000mw, 500mw 200mw, dji? Thankyou very much...thankyou!!!!

    No one likes to watch the video's and comments to see so many experts giving their criticism, talking about what they would have done and what the person in the video should have done. I suppose it makes them feel better about themselves by talking about how smart their were and how much better they can do themselves.

    I get approx 1 km using immersion 600mw with clover leaf tx on the Phantom 2 and clover leaf rx plus rubber duck on the Black Pearl.

  • @alasdair4161
    @alasdair4161 Před 9 lety

    Remember, the tx is probably circular polarised, so the vertical whips will reject that signal quite well, also, some of those monitors may generate spurious noise which can affect others too close by, and he may also be one channel off too, and i have found some cheapo CP antenna's like Aomways to be as effective as the centre pin of a sma plug. So, put the same fatsharks on all, or one antenna distributor to feed each receiver to make it half believable. I regularly fly beyond 3km with boscam & 400mw using fatsharks, so this video looks a little skewed. Also, the CP's on the black pearl may be RHCP with the tx LHCP.. You must also be able to confirm that the connectors are right, like RP SMA in a SMA socket will give exactly that result too, so.. Who knows.

    Hi Rui, what transmitter you used on your phantom? is it the DJI AVL58? How far can you go? I just purchased the 701 but now I'm quite worried it won't work with the immersionRC 600mW tx :( does the 701 works well with DJI AVL58 Tx? Btw the Ikan has no integrated receiver? thanks! :) I wish you could make a detailled video of your equip ;)

    Your using a Circular Polarized antenna on the drone (I am assuming because thats whats on your FPV setup) and linear antennas on the three monitors, of course this test isn't going to work right.

    • @kwaw310400
      @kwaw310400  Před 10 lety

      Yes....it displays a blue screen. However, allow me to clarify....it will only display the blue screen only when extreme maximum distant is reach. If you want no blue screen you need to choose an FPV monitor. To me it makes no difference, cos in my test...the screen of the FPV monitor will go sudden black out too!!!!. I like the Ikan as it is a colour reference monitor...plus it has a really good high contrast screen. Watch the vid again...you will see the sudden blackout of the fpv screen.

    I guess you used 2.4G transmitter to control the quadrocopter, but could you please tell me how you manage to move the camera in this setup? I'm searching for a long range configuration for a phantom 2, the vision+ they offer cant be set up with a high power 5.8G transmitter so I must buy parts seperately, but then I'm confused on how to move the camera as only a 5.8G downlink exists and the 2.4G (as far as I understood) is only to move the quadrocopter, not the camera. thanks a lot!

    i have the boscam and a black pearl, with the right antenna you can get 2k+ on both. so it all boils down to what antenna you use. I tested with the ImmersionRc flat panel also ibcrazy helical antenna, both are pretty good for long range. my only issue is the RC transmitter goes in FS after 2k but still has a clear picture. I just added an antenna booster for my transmitter and will test it out this sunday. I'll post some videos.

      what is a booster? sorry I'm a noob

    • @alasdair4161
      @alasdair4161 Před 9 lety

      Sonny Phan Another good trick is to stick your booster and antenna on a tall pole, buy a quality 3mtr sma extension lead, and with 2 watts you will get 30km with a frsky l9r, or 15km with a telemetry x8r, just using a 5db whip with 3metre elevation in clear LOS space. Forget holding your TX at ground level, trying to keep it straight, not tipping the antenna, its too risky when your way out. Mine returns constant 99% rssi at 5km, i just need more flight time to venture further. You can also sling a separate battery to run the wifi booster independently too. Using the lead before the booster, back to your radio overcomes the loss issue, as the booster improves RX gain as well as TX, which being buffered, minimises cable losses in that config. Don't just extend the antenna and leave your booster on the TX.

      +Tobias Schorr What will you do when your brake line bursts, and you are hurtling toward a red light where there is a motorcyclist stopped, and you don't grab the E-brake in time? (or maybe you drove with it on too long so it's not there) My point is that you can't band-aid the world. Most quads can be set up to return home upon TX dropout, and it's the pilot's responsibility to avoid flying over populated areas.

    Didn't seem to be a very fair comparison as the Boscam had the std whips meaning they are verticaly polorised and yet you have the other video screen with what looks like a ScewPlaner and a cloverleaf and I believe that your running a rotational polorised antenna on the TX from the multicopter which dosen't work with a verticaly polorised antenna like the whips!.This is born out when the copter is coming back and is only 50 meters out yet the only video feed thats working is the one on the left (your base station rig) which is running a independant RX with a circular polorised antenna with the white plastic capping so the review is Null! Put some matching antennas on all of them and compare with each other but leave out your base station video as that has an unfair gain over the onboard video even with diversity.Can be a very good comparison if these changes are implemented.

    Your setup kinda sucks. You're not using a helical antenna, you mad, bro? A diversity receiver would the best solution for flying near residential areas, thanks to Wifi pollution and possible cell towers.

    PLEASE! Someone tell me how can I connect my Android device or ipad or ipod, iphone etc to a receiver??? Or realy need to buy some shitty old designed, bad resolution, huge, heavy ugly monitor, plus a battery which is big like 2 potatos, and a lot of wires around. Seriously. HALOOOOO it's 2014 not 2004! PLUS a brilliant android Galaxy tab 3 its 150 euro, and you can watch hours in HD quality. Or a ipad for example etc. PLEASE someone tell me how to connect Im realy appreciated! THANK YOU! ps: Im not that stup.d to buy a dji wifi for 1350 euros, or buy a controller with some small shitty monitor for 3000 euros. seriously. common.

      1) it would cost more to connect to ur phone than to just buy a monitor
      2) the low resolution you see isn't from the monitor, it's from the transmitter.

      Also, there are monitors like the boscam that have integrated batteries and rx.
