    YES GIRL!...😇...my mother owned a cleaning business back in the 70s, and she took all five of her children with her and taught us how to clean those houses. My father was in the Marine Corps and my mother cleaned houses for military inspections. There could not even be a hair on the floor. To say the least, I have been accused throughout my life of being nitpicky. But I call it, good cleaning habits. That is how you create a healthy home. • @lavernewebb7308
      @lavernewebb7308 Před 5 lety +16

      I get rid of mold in the bathroom by spraying full strength or diluted bleach on i. Ventilate the bath room as needed. Be mindful of spraying it full strength if your bathroom will be used within a short time frame or if children will be using it because it can be overpowering if you spray a lot. Also know that some strengths of bleach can cause plastics bottles to dissolve in left in the bottle. Keeping the shower door or curtain closed and lack of ventilation promotes the growth of mold.

      this is a good one because everyone has a different opinion on how to kill mold, some say bleach doesn't kill it and only vinegar does... I sometimes just want to use fire... lol!

    • @j.d.4246
      @j.d.4246 Před 5 lety +8

      Use a good stiff bristle scrub brush to get rid of the orange/pink mildew before it turns into mold, then seal your grout. Once mold takes hold, the only real solution is replacing the tiles/grout and/or caulking. Ventilation is key. The faster those areas dry the less like this is to be an issue. Be careful when using bleach as it will cause permanent damage to most surfaces over time.

    I only have one bathroom... but thankfully I have a big vanity with lots of storage and a medicine cabinet with lots of storage... pedestal sinks look nice and all but there's nowhere to put anything. Keeping the counter clutter-free makes it so much easier / faster to clean. If there's stuff everywhere, half or more of the cleaning time is just putting things away. And it's essential to keep it guest ready when you only have one! Thanks for the DIY recipe! I'm going to try that. I don't envy you with 4 bathrooms to clean. You can always schedule weekly employee training at your house where they have to clean everything... ;)

    I wholly agree with the quick clean on daily...that is if you can clean it in 1-2-3...than do it. For instance after turning the sink off wipe the water splashes. After eating rinse and put dish in dishwasher,clean as I cook..etc. I made a routine where I dedicated one day of the week to a room to deep/thoroughly cleaning, leaving one day a week to relax. So my cleaning schedule is
    Mon-kitchen-dishes/dishwasher,scrub sink, disinfect microwave stove...etc
    Tuesday-bedroom-closet/clothes remove random items like books/papers
    We'd-bathroom toilet sink shower
    Thursday-living room papers to recycle or put elsewhere wipe glass etc
    Friday-other rooms like guest or office
    Sat- vacuum dust and laundry
    Sun-relax (sometimes switch with fri or sat depending on what's going on)
    I also made rules for myself that I usually stick to
    1-no dishes in sink before going to bed (if I'm exhausted then I do them in morning in)
    2-make bed in moring. Not real ally hotel standard but semi fix
    3wipe sink after use
    ...
    My mom says have the house clean to a point that anyone can come unexpected and your okay....for instance a plummer to unclog the shower or an electrician etc
    I like neatness and try to but at times I fail...im human after all

    Bathrooms - MUST be cleaned DAILY - because they are used on a DAILY basis.
    I make the time, by picking up after myself and putting things back where they belong.
    My bathroom is my sanctuary- I use it - it is my body that has to sit on the toilet , use the shower and Tub - so WHY would I want it gross and unsanitary.????
    If you clean and pick up DAILY / it will remain clean.!!!!!
    I keep paper towels in my storage draw and Scrubbing bubbles or any nice cleaner such as Fabuloso and wipe everything down, once I am finished with my morning routine - or at night, including around and behind the toilet. Nothing worst than grossness behind and around the toilet.
    I also keep Disposable Scrubbing Bubbles toilet 🚽 cleaning pads- since I think toilet brushes are gross and unsanitary - NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU “ Sanitize” them !

This worked fantastic, smells good with the tea tree oil and is enviornmentally friendly. I bought a ketchup/mustard squirt bottle set at Dollar Tree for $1.00, and keep one in each bathroom. I have also just moved into a new house. We went from 1 small bathroom and one 1/2 bath to another small bathroom and one huge bathroom. They are both gorgeous with the showers lined from floor to ceiling in that ceramic tile that mimics wood, with stone detail and stone floors. I became a big fan of using a squeegee after showers to maintain my shower in between cleanings. And it made regular cleaning so much easier. With this new tile there are so many grooves that I quickly realized squeegeeing was frustrating and just near impossible without squeegeeing each tile individually. So I have the after shower spray, but I knew I’d need to be more diligent with regular cleaning. Obstacle #2 is having fixed shower heads with out the space to replace them with removable shower heads. How am I going to rinse my shower after I’ve scrubbed it down? I thought I’d share my solution in case anyone else struggled with this, or I’d love to hear other solutions. I bought one of those pesticide bottles from the garden department. The kind you fill halfway, pump to pressurize and then use the attached hose a sprayer. I wrote “WATER” on it so my husband doesn’t mistake it for his weed killer sprayer and I use it to spray and rinse my shower after I’ve cleaned it. Anyway, love your videos. I discovered them over a year ago just as we had started renovating our old house preparing to sell. Thanks!

    One tip if you are someone that constantly forgets to wipe your bathroom counter is to leave a drying cloth on the counter/by the sink. It may not look aesthetically pleasing but it is convenient and you are constantly reminded because it's out in the open. Most horrifying guest experience for me was drying my hands on the hand towel. I was the first guest to arrive so I offered to help in the kitchen so I went and washed my hands beforehand. Later while I ate I was smelling this really poopy smell. I thought it was someone else at the table. Later on that night I used their bathroom and I discovered skid marks all over the hand towel. Actual chunks. I helped prepare dinner and then ate after wiping my hands on that towel. It’s been at least 10 years since that happened, and it still horrifies me to think of. If they had toddlers I would have gotten over it, but it was only adults living there. I had a really difficult time staying friends with them and actually am not friends with them anymore. I did do a tester trip to their bathroom like a year after the dinner party because I thought there was no way people could live like that and there was poop on the hand towel again so I couldn’t shake off the revulsion that everything they touch is so dirty.

There is one thing that should be handled differently. Each person should have their own towel(s) to use and the guests should be provided a nice paper towel holder with medium quality paper towels. Keep your curtains and/or shower doors open after your shower. Turn the fan on and leave the door open. Your mildew and mold issues will be reduced drastically.

    I always try to think how my guests see my whole house, but I’m a perfectionist anyway. I can’t stand for my throw rugs to be out of line with my doors or furniture, the hand towels must hang evenly, the window blinds must be hanging straight at the bottom, I’m very particular! I can walk in any room of my home and I know if something is out of place. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t live in a museum, my home is lived in, but I can’t stand a dirty house. Thanks for sharing your tips!

    I don't use a toilet brush. Instead I use the Clorox toilet wand. It's inexpensive and will last forever. You just have to buy the scrubby cleaner filled scented heads to insert. After using you promptly click the dirty head into the trash! I love love love these!!! So worth it!

    That lav paper looked as if it was being stored in a vulnerable place because while we aim to keep the lavatory clean not all of us hit the target.

    Years ago I was a student Physiotherapist and for the first year of training I had to live in the Nurses Home. I had my own room but had to share a bathroom with about eight other students . I ALWAYS cleaned out the bath BEFORE I used it, and then again AFTER I’d used it. One of the girls NEVER cleaned the bath and when challenged she said that at home “Mummy always cleaned the bath out”!
    👸🏼🥊 She was 19!
