    There will never be a day that I can afford PM. This video makes me feel included on your makeup journey, and I appreciate you thinking about those of us that may be on a different socioeconomic level. 💛

    • @joleenludwig3005
      @joleenludwig3005 Před 3 lety +22

      Not just a socioeconomic level but comfort with spending. There are lots of people that can afford but don’t feel comfortable with that price. That is ok. Makeup should bring us joy, buying something we can’t afford, or not comfortable with will not bring us joy. I am a huge PM fan and I pace myself buying one each sale but even I acknowledge I don’t need it. No one does. I save for it and budget for it because it’s my thing. If it’s not your thing totally cool... there is enough beautiful makeup out there for everyone.

    You can definitely tell the difference between the two with the application. The way the Pat McGrath shades went on and blended out made it stand out. The bronze shimmer also made a huge difference. But color-wise they were definitely close. Very pretty look!

    • @aprilsun6983

      Fully agree. You could tell immediately from the first shade. If not, the application of shimmers totally gave it away. She didn't use any of those 4 blitz astral shades, which I don't believe you can dupe at all. I get where she's coming from, but to me it's unfortunately not a fair comparison.

    This was an interesting comparison. Being an avid makeup lover for years and using various types of shadows, I have to say that the higher quality makes a difference in the makeup application experience as well. It goes far beyond luxury packaging. The blends and layering are much more pleasing and easy with a better formula. It took a little while for me to buy Pat McGrath shadows as well due to the price, but I don’t regret my purchases. I think you’ll find the more you play around with the Pat shadows, the more you’ll unlock just how different and special they truly are. They can be layered and they transform, becoming quite versatile, without losing their integrity. I have Midnight Sun and Divine Rose II, along with her 2020 holiday collection and a blitz Astral Quad. They can be worn for a subtle look or the more dramatic. Their intensity and pigment and stunning sparkle truly set these shadows apart. They are unmatched when used to their potential. I don’t think one needs all her shadows, they are an investment. If you want a mothership, pick a color story that speaks to you and I don’t think one would regret it overall. Plus she always has amazing sales on her website. It’s a question of quality vs quantity in many cases. Instead of buying a ton of less expensive “just ok” palettes, why not invest in something you may truly love?

    Such a fun idea for a video! I did call correctly the PMG side. Her shimmers just melt into your skin without accentuating texture, and the rust shade went on without patching. But the four shades on the right of her Motherships are her “special shades” which are undupable in my opinion. It wasn’t until I tried those that I understood the hype. @@daniellezadora7637 well in my opinion, on top of packaging, there is the special shades which transforms other shades like no other brand. Some are iridescent, some are duo chrome, and most are sparkly with micro glitter so fine it’s smooth. These special shades are amazing. I really like all the different textures and layering of them as well. You either love her stuff or you don’t. It’s either worth it or it’s not. It’s never worth it if you can’t afford it. I think most of her palettes don’t appeal to the average user, they are too high priced and basic eye looks is not where she shines. If you are a matte in the crease, darker matte in the corner, and shimmer on the lid type user, you will most likely think she is over rated. If you aren’t scared to layer and experiment with textures chances are you will love her stuff.

      @@daniellezadora7637 I agree with Joleen. The eyeshadow palettes are worth it to me personally because the luxurious packaging, special formulas, and unique shades make me happy. Pat McGrath’s concealer and undereye setting powder are the best I’ve tried. If you order straight from Pat McGrath, she has some good sales seasonally. Also, she usually always has something discounted on her site. You just have to click through individual products to find the surprise sale. I’m a recent convert to PM, finally splurging on my first Mothership last year when she launched Divine Rose II and then snagging the same one in this video on her most recent sale along with a quad. I will say, while you can make a similar look, nothing can match the subtle tones within each shadow, the curation within the palette itself, and how they blend together. It’s effortless. Also, I would love to see a video comparing the special shades (4 on the right side) with something drugstore, as these are really what makes these palettes stand out. I have Midnight Sun and it is a cute palette. I purchased it when it was on sale for $88. My favorite PM palette is Bronze Seduction. Divine Rose II is a second for me. I really like the blue/purple shade just blown out on the lid. The green is cute. The neutral looks are easier to dupe. The special shades are more difficult. Some people will spend buckets on one shade from Indie Brands. It is just what you are looking for in an eyeshadow. I am into Viseart at the moment.

    Part of the PM experience are her special shades and unique color stories. Leaving them out of this video isn't a true comparison, if someone is considering them. There is much more to PM than a few neutrals.

      This! I love Mandy and love that she was trying to give options for people that cannot or will not buy Pat but excluding those special shades doesn’t seem like a fair comparison. I was actually disappointed when she showed what colors she was going to be working with out of the Pat palette.

    I just bought this pallette on Monday, also for $88! It arrives tomorrow 💓. It's my first pallette from her and I think the colors are perfect for my undertone. So excited to play with it! Honestly I think it's funny no one has mentioned how this is like a muted rainbow pallette, with the red, orange, yellow, green, blue/purple, and then the white/bronze/tan/brown-black. Lol. Definitely do more looks, especially with the "stunning" shades. I agree you don't need to spend a lot to get great eyeshadow looks, I'm loving the wet and wild! Thanks for the great video 😍

    I guess my eye is geared toward the kinds of looks that drug store brands can produce, because I prefer the look on your left eye. I see it as softer yet just as impactful. The more of your comparison videos that I watch, the more I find my preference for the drug store looks increasing. I really enjoy this. Thank you for creating it and the others.

    I purposefully didn't read any of the other comments, so these are just my initial thoughts. The right eye looks richer and deeper. The shades appeared to blend more easily and didn't look patchy. It was fun to see the comparison of the 2 brands and see that you can get very similar looks. This is a pretty eye look.

    Great video, Mandy! I guessed incorrectly and was shocked bec I love MG palettes. Even though I have 5 of her palettes and LIVE for them, this is a perfect example of why spending more $ doesn't necessarily mean "better". However, PM packaging and her formulas really are an experience - which, unfortunately I don't believe Wet 'n Wild can not replicate, especially if you're a makeup enthusiast. But either way, you proved we recreate the same look and that's really cool! 👍🏻💋

    I just recently picked up Divine Rose 2 and while it’s gorgeous and the packaging is divine I don’t think it’s worth the regular price or the $89 I paid for it. With the indie brands killing the game i think she needs to step it up. EVERY shimmer in her palette should be a special shade for that price. My Clionadh, Devinah, and Terra Moons shadows put hers to shame. I care more about the shadows than the packaging so that may be where she looses me but I would love a more budget friendly palette from her like ND mini’s with her special shades vs the quads she puts out or the holiday palette she did with none of her special shades.
    Love your content as usual!

    I love both. Luxury like PMG and budget conscious Wet n Wild. I think one of the (very) subtle differences is how they blend and pigment. For instance I knew which was the PMG because of how quickly it blended and because you didn’t have to double dip your brush. But you’re right both looks are very similar and if you don’t want to spend $$ for nice looking makeup looks, you really don’t have to.

I’m perfectly happy with the mid range and below. Great video- I will be picking up some WnW palettes to try, even less than my comfortable midrange, yayyy!!! FYI drugstore is all I purchased for 20 years, in the past year I have gotten into more makeup looks and various brands.
