There's something I don't quite understand. Why is the tartan decorating everything the Royal Stuart? Isn't that the Queen's tartan? I don't know much about the real person but the character seems to be portrayed as a fierce independentist.
Assuming you're being serious, the SNP (which this sketch is exaggerated and based upon) are a party that are pro Scottish-independence, but not republicans. The SNP are basically all about giving Scotland as much ability and power to govern itself as possible; that the Scottish people be governed by a parliament that they have actually voted for, and for that parliament to have complete control over Scotland's affairs. The main issue isn't to do with the Royal Family at all, and an Independent Scotland would still be technically ruled by "The Queen", as when it comes to parliament and government, the royals basically don't matter anymore. All the power is in the elected parliament, and Scotland only want to have their own full parliament, where they can elect and be ruled by a party - entirely - of their own choosing, which currently isn't possible. ATM, every single person in Scotland could vote, say, "Labour Party" and it wouldn't matter, because England is able to outvote us by a huge margin by virtue of the population and mean we spend decades under systems that we don't agree with, spending trillions on nuclear weapons (which we don't want), having cuts to the NHS (which we don't want) and having Conservative issues forced upon us, like Brexit against our will. The Royal Family are irrelevant when it comes to this. I hope this explained things. Also, the Royal Stewart Tartan is kind of a "catch all" tartan for generic purposes a lot of the time.
@@shestewa6581 so will Scotland have another independence vote? If so, how likely it will win this time? I’m asking it because I want to move to Scotland and leave the Brexit chaos, no more debate and news that I want to hear about on tv
@@CP1900PC The awful thing is that Scotland can only have another independence vote if English MPs *let us* have one. Does that sound fair? The UK didn't have to ask permission to leave the EU, for instance. During the COVID Pandemic, support for the SNP and Scottish Independence have soared significantly, mostly due to the fact that the Scottish Government have been more open, effective, transparent and honest than the Westminster one. Before campaigning started for Independence in 2014, support polled at around 25% and for the referendum it was 45%. Currently, basic support is sitting at around 52-55% with a similar proportion in parliament. That's before more campaigning. I think that a second independence referendum is likely to pass quite comfortably after the campaign. The "unionists" made a number of promises the last time, all of which were lies by official members of the UK government. I at least hope that people won't be so gullible this time. We're at 55% now before campaigning because people are finally seeing how effective the SNP are as a government. I believe, wholeheartedly, that with time and proper methods, independence would win. Westminster know this, though, and that's why they will try everything in their power to stop it from happening - i.e. not allowing another referendum.
