One of the biggest reasons for addiction is the emptiness in life. An inability to see a valuable future. Realism of a society derailed.

Hi Jacob, sorry about the loss of your friend. I stopped drinking spradically, now permanantly but I understand the sentimental idea. I found it hard to stop drinking permanantly as I associated certain events, places and people with alcohol and happy feelings (even if those happy feelings were not a true representation of what eventually happened but my memory deceives me sometimes) . Even now I find it hard to think of visiting Belgium for a holiday without wanting their beer. It is such a strong association, that I have even moved my special beer glasses out of the kitchen at home. There are some friends who remind me of drinking so when I visit them I have to be aware that the wish to drink is easily triggered because of the place or event. So I adapt these times a little, change them around and try to think of other reasons to go to belgium :-), chips and chocolate for example!! This recovery guy is very good, give him some space in your day. Good luck and all the best for the new year.

This is by far the best video I have found in 10 years of searching for just this type of advice and guidance. I purchased one of everything you mentioned during this episode. I was blessed with ADHD but as we all know it has its downside as well. An active brain at rest and during sleep is the most debilitating part of it. Alcohol is a “go-to” for many of us that suffer from a restless mind. So far the only thing that I have tried that helps is Kratom and believe it or not, a potent omega 3, 6, and 9. I have taken ginseng in the past and I’ve done research on Kava and Yerba Mate but now I have all of it in my basket on Amazon and will be buying it as soon as I wrap up this post. Thanks again my friend and may God continue to bless you.

But I've been abusing alcohol for years because it gives me the motivation to do things I simply don't have the energy to do. I'm exhausted all the time and I'm trying your methods. I haven't gotten my deliveries yet but I did start taking Milk Thistle for my liver and just got some probiotic enzyme so hopefully that helps. Nice to hear you’re a proponent of Kratom within reason. I’ve always found Kratom to be what has allowed me to experience sustained stretches of abstinence in the past. I’m just cautious of its own addictive nature, however. There are Reddit groups for people having a hell of a time withdrawing from it. Not to mention rehab centers caring for patients with Kratom addiction Too much of a good thing apparently. Personally, I’ve never found withdrawals to be too difficult.

I used kratom for about 3 years at medium doses, but later on heavy doses and it was over a week of pretty horrible withdrawals. Took 3 months before i got my energy back. It was horrible and ive done way worse detoxes but this was no joke. Been free from it over a year now and life’s better. I always warn people how addictive it actually is.

@@Carson_ppg Huh. It must be a personal, specific thing. I used kratom in relatively high doses in the evenings, and when I stopped, there were zero negative effects. It could be similar to how if one of my relatives doesn't munch on specifically Lays potato chips, she gets headaches and sweats. Human bodies are weird, man. I wouldn't touch kava from a head shop with a ten foot pole. The leaves from kava are damaging to yer liver. The root is fine. Kraken Kratom is extremely reputable in both Kratom and kava, decent prices, fast shipping, and great customer support. No affiliation, just a happy customer. Similar to opiates, kratom can be a bit hard on the stomach. It would be good for someone trying to stop using opiates. It would do nothing for physical alcohol withdrawal. Kava is great for anxiety but if you have an anxiety disorder or are in alcohol recovery, regular kava use can be habit forming and can cause withdrawals if taken regularly and stopped suddenly. It's also very hard on the liver beyond occasional use. For occasional use they are both excellent. As you mentioned for something like going to a wedding, these would be helpful for someone avoiding alcohol. Both kratom and kava have potential to be habit forming. Most of the bio-hacking or nootripic substances are like this though. Best to use with caution if you have tendency toward or history of addiction. If you engage in regular use and you are sensitive be prepared to taper off. Still better than alcohol though. Thanks for sharing these healthier alternatives!

Yes, very addicting for me. Used it daily for 4-5 years. Even after tapering down to a half teaspoon per day, it was very difficult to quit. When I did fully quit, I had insomnia problems for months, and 5 years later still don't sleep as well as I did before kratom use.

I agree with Heide and EF. Kratom must only be used here and there. It is so much more addictive than people who are in denial will admit. I used to be in denial and said it was fine bcuz it's "natural". Drank everyday for a year or 2. It gave me drive, mental and physical energy and of course euphoria. It took months once I stopped for my sleep, motivation and body to get back to normal. And I truly believe to this day is still why I have some nerve pain. The few times here and there I gave it a shot again I have had muscle spasms every time afterwards.
Most ppl haven't used it long enough and stopped yet to feel these effects

My partner became a kratom addict pretty quickly. If you have an addictive personality , I would not recommend it. I thought that was terrible because it became a year long nightmare.

@@felinetube7198 Not true. A tolerance is built up over time. When I first started, only a tablespoon caused me to vomit at times. As time went on and I began using it every day, several times that amount were tolerable (and caused a state that was truly intoxicating -- and not in a good way). I was unable to quit for about 5 years. Each attempt caused major episodes of depression, hopelessness, anhedonia, and insomnia. I finally tapered slowly down to 1/2 tsp per day and held that for several months before quitting. Immediately upon quitting I had major sleep issues. Still have them even 5 years after quitting (though not as bad as initially).

No. They are still much safer than alcohol and there is literally no good reason to avoid kava. If the proper parts of the root are used it does not cause liver damage, it is not physically addictive and it does NOT make people violent and angry like alcohol does. It's also been shown as an effective and safer treatment for general anxiety disorder than benzodiazepines. I can understand why people would wanna avoid Kratom but kava is benign and there's no reason to see it as anything other than a benign herb.
