People are talking about this song invoking depression, or relate to depression of kinds in this song, but, this song gives more of 'inbetween' vibes. Like Lambda's comment, When you're walking home from school.. Not even alone, but, in silence. Appreciating the quietness, and walking. When you take the turn that splits you and your friend from their routes home, and nod in acknowledgement that they'll see each other again soon.
A moment of rest, in between constant chaos. Say you (in a game) have just gotten out of a fight with 1HP, you barely survived, your armor is broken. Alive, but still watching the 'in combat' icon at the top of your screen staring at you... Waiting, patiently, for it to disappear and your opportunity to log off for the day.
But maybe you're still moving around. You've healed, and are walking around in town, setting yourself up for the next day. Buying potions, repairing your armor, and messaging your friends, propping them for the good raid, and to do it again tomorrow.
Or perhaps, it's at the end of the chaos. You've completed the game. You've unlocked every achievement, and it's finally over.. You get to walk around one last time, the world you were in, the creations you've made, or the relationships you've established with towns you've passed by. Returning to the starter town one last time, to see how far you've come, to log off for one last time.
It gives me more a feeling of.. Satisfaction, than it does sadness. I'm not sure if that's what the song intended here, I've never even played Cry of Fear or watched any videos about it, but that's the feeling I'm getting from it.

@@thatgothcat bro I fight OCD everyday, ik what it is like to have a struggle breaking a habit. Tbh, it’s not easy i don’t have any substance addictions but my OCD would of been even worse if I depended on substances. It’s just my OCD tortured me everyday and I can’t seem to control the intrusive thoughts. It’s an endless cycle of agony.
