Vietnamese Street Food ft. Bun Dau Met

- Today we eat Vietnamese street food, specifically Bun Dau Met (Vietnamese rice noodles with fried tofu). We also order a side of Nem (rolled sausage in rice paper). All for less than 1 USD! But first, we visit the Vietnam Military History Museum. It’s morbid to revisit memories of World War II and other atrocities. However it is essential to remember the past to prevent such acts from repeating in the future. We also stop by Ba Dinh Square and attempt to get into the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Tip for crossing the roads in Vietnam: YOLO.
If you wait for traffic to "clear", it almost never happens. Lol really. Just hold your breathe and cross, the cars will dodge. Actually, if you stop walking, it makes it easier for accidents to happen since they won't know when you're planning to start crossing the roads again.
You are right we must learn from our history. We can do nothing about the past, but we can share it to help our futures.

In Vietnam, you should actually keep walking because the motorists are familiar with avoiding you vs you just stopping in the middle of the street and getting banged.

When I was a kid I ate an ant because the bear in the Jungle Book ate them. 😂😂😂 I still remember it being really, um, tangy. LOL!

When I was a kid I would always pick up ants and let them crawl on my hand until my dad told me they can also bite. After that I never touch a ant as I used to again

do you find that people treat you differently when they assume you are korean/japanese than when you tell them you are american? my dad fought in the vietnam war and growing up i only ever heard him say terrible and racist things about it. i am traveling to ho chi minh city for the first time alone next month and i can't wait to kiss the ground, meet friendly people, and provide economy to the city. i've been living abroad in berlin for the last 10 years, so i am used to being a foreigner in a place where america was involved in a war. i am curious as to your experience with this. i watched your videos in preparation for solo trips to south korea and japan as well....so, thanks! :-)

With Bun Dau Met, if you eat them with shrimp paste instead of fish sauce, it will taste even more delicious. But the shrimp paste has its smell a little..... =)) . If you travel to Ha Noi again, let try it ^^
