    Oh, I didn't notice the sops went up as well. I guessed that practicality would have been the reason, so thank you for confirming that. Again, thank you for providing this resource - it helped me prepare for yesterday evening's anthem - and I'm sure it helps many others too.

    It's been many years since our choir first started to sing this piece so I've forgotten why those four notes for alto, sop1 and sop2 were raised an octave in the edition I used. My guess is that it makes it easier for "ordinary mortals" to sing.

    This is great, and it is very kind of you to provide it, but I can't help noticing that you've changed a few notes here and there. For instance, in the editions I've always sung from, at the end the alto part goes down to g below middle c; and concludes with the leap up from a flat below c up to f and then to e flat. Did Stanford himself give alternatives?

    In means 26 altos sing a B flat not an E flat
