Actually, the bottleneck here is the processor, because the game does not support multiple cores (after all, that wasn't commonplace back when it was released).

The game engine uses a single core and after this there's probably another limit, that would be about a maximum usefulness of a cpu because the game engine, again, can only use so much of even a single core, regardless of speed and cache available to it. Even a single core at 8.8ghz (speed record) will have massive stutter and lag after a point.
This does comes from a certain mission when you play as Ally. The Soviet got 3 nuke silos but unlike from this video. The mission would simply launch all 3 missiles but only 1 would go down into your base but the nuke powers is higher. When you take down 1 by 1, the power levels goes down. It was a bit let down since they launch 3 missiles but only 1 goes down. Well from game play point of view if all 3 does goes down, I wouldn't be able to finish that mission at all. So maybe it just wanted to make the gameplay to be balance in the missions. So seeing this videos where multiples nukes can be launch but falls down a different locations in the base within the clickable area really gives me that satisfactions.

the game's engine limits the explosions, in 1999 having 256 mb RAM was like nowadays having 64 GB RAM. And GPUs were like 32 MB VRAM at best.

@@llSuperSnivyll this game had reccomended 266 mhz (0.2 GHz) cpu. It can't take advantage of modern CPUs despite them pushing 5.5+ GHz in single core.

Thats how it would work in real life.. its called a Volly.. you have less chance of missing your target when you fire multiple projectiles at it..
