    I've already bought simple black wood frames for each of them, that will stand independently so I will have choices of where to display them. I'm enjoying stitching them, and determined to have them for Christmas, but will also enjoy a bit more variety in my stitching when these are completed. Love the mirabilia you are working on for your mother, it's fun to watch them come to life isn't it.

    Thanks for sharing Rosie! Just found you and really enjoyed your flosstube. Like you, I am in cross stitching desert, haven't found any other stitchers, live in a very rural, but beautiful Appalachian area. We have no stores that carry stitching supplies, thank goodness for the internet, which can be iffy😅.
    This year I have been 'monogamously' stitching Nora Corbett's reindeer. I'm on #7, determined to have them finished for Christmas this year. The sleigh may have to come next year. Thanks again for sharing! Love your customizations, I may have to borrow that term.

    About petits on the face I did myself a false countour with backstitch first, then blended petits and filled in the face turned outrealistic and great.
    About the orchids beading - if you weave the thread under it will stay put; people really finish them, I have not tried- as I don’t have where to buy such pieces.

    • @RosieintheRockies
      @RosieintheRockies  Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you for both great ideas! I haven't tried false contour with backstitch yet...will try on a future project. I purchased my beading project on etsy. The seller no longer has a store, but I think if you search beaded needlework there are many options. Most sellers are from Eastern Europe, so I wonder if they are produced there?

    Hi! I’m from Northern California. Love your beautiful projects! I’m smiling because I didn’t know why you were speaking so quietly until you said your household was beginning to wake up! I totally understand!! I’m happy I found you. Good for you deciding to jump on flosstube. I don’t have any friends who stitch either, so flosstube is my long distance stitchy friendships. Tell me about that beading project! I’d love to try that! Where did you get it? Was it a kit or did you have to source the beads. I do see how it would be concerning about the anchoring of those beads. Happy to meet you. Happy stitching 😊. Cheri

    • @RosieintheRockies
      @RosieintheRockies  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you Cheri! So nice to meet you. I'm soft spoken in general. I think the etsy store where I purchased the beading project (and three others) closed down during the war in eastern europe. But if you search "beaded cross stitch" on etsy there are so many different kinds of patterns! Just be aware most use plastic (not glass) beads, which means you can't iron the piece when its done. What are you stitching on now?

      Thank you for watching and your comment! And yes, the colors on In the Library are brighter when you use two strands. The recommendation is 1x1 on 36 ct linen, which probably gives a more faded, antique feel. But I like the brightness of the 2x2.

    I loved your video and I have to say your voice is so calm and soothing to my always-too-busy mind. Your work is beautiful. I’m thinking for the all beaded piece that maybe ironing on some fusible interfacing to the back when it’s done will help the threads stay in place. That will only work if they’re glass beads, ironed on face down on some towels. I don’t know if that will work, but that’s what popped in my mind. I’d maybe start with a corner and see how it goes.

    • @RosieintheRockies
      @RosieintheRockies  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thank you so much for watching and the lovely comment. The fusible interface is a great idea! I think these beads are glass, but maybe I'll try to iron a few of them on a towel with a t-shirt in between to make sure they don't melt, and then try a very small corner of the fabric. Thank you again!
