Very sad that Jim passed away last year, I recall seeing him run his 63 Plymouth back in the mid 70's at the old Mission track....
Gone too soon, all my condolences and best wishes to his family...

Damn. Nothing sounds like a hemi. I remember in the 70's sitting in the stands. A hemi barracuda would run and they were the only cars you could also feel in your whole body when they ran.

Raced a 383 RR in the early 1970's stock, 8 inch slicks, headers, crane cheater cam, 456 rear, ran 12.6 to 12.8 in 1/4 mile. Was tacking about 5,800 RPM at end of quarter. still got most of the trophy's 46yrs. later!

Godamn! That is one sweet sounding/working car. One of my fathers friends had one of those. I still remember him leaving the better part of a set of tires in front of our house one night when he left. I think I was about 7 or 8 at that time.

That's an original RO23 race car that's been a SuperStock car since new. Jim used to live in Port Alberni where the car was from. ( owned at first by Lyle Kidd i think) Historic car and really quick.

+Barry Peloquin A 1967 GTX was RS23 for hardtop or RS27 for convertible. The second digit denotes the price class of the car, in this case S stood for special.
The price class O was reserved for the factory super stock cars, which in 1967 were converted low option Belvedere and (for Dodge) Coronet models. In 1968 the O price class was again used, but this time for the BO29 Barracuda fastback and LO23 Dart hardtop models.

    • @RFedyk
