The meaning of this song is pretty powerful.
This song is about comparing jam and sugar with love and relationships. Both are sweet but it's fake and unhealthy and she knows that relationship will end up being toxic as the sugar but despite knowing that she still doesn't want to think about it and the real meaning, she still wants to experiment everything she wants the partner to be and let him do sweet things to fall for, so the relationship will last longer. It's the same as jam, fruits rot early so people do sweet jam to last more.
Then the part that says "pour it and cover it" like she's talking about jam she's also talking about the lies and sweet things that she wants to hear and experiement.
IU explained it in an interview but I just got this explanation from another youtube comment

Sorry for the late reply but it’s not a sexual song. The jam is used as a metaphor for fake relationships. Since fruits are quick to be rotten, we make them into jam with a bunch of sugar to preserve it. In the song, she’s trying to preserve her relationship with a bunch of sugar to make it preserved like jam. That’s why she says “I need some sugar, I need something fake” and then she’s saying the cover spill spread part, that’s the jam spread on a bread.
