My First Electric Car! - The BMW i3

- Over the past three years or so I've tried to find that perfect single car for daily and fun weekend driving. I've failed. Realistically the only way to enjoy the best of both worlds is to own two cars.
This is the first of those two cars, which will be my daily and is also my very first electric car. A 2014 BMW i3.

I love the i3😄great choice my friend! I hope you enjoy👍🏽✨
Thanks KaRon! Hard to believe so much quality, tech and fun all for only $16K so worth it
Great choice for a daily and fun driver 😎👍🏻
Thanks! It's so much fun.
Congrats on your clean and fun ride. The i3 is indeed a fantastic car.
The best..love it. Thanks for the revue
Excellent review. Especially appreciate the New England perspective. Going to make one of these my next car. Nice hearing from a 'car guy' who has a recent taste of quality performance cars jumping into an i3. It's telling even you consider this a 'fun' car. Would love to see a follow up with the H&R springs and any other mods...
I have an i3s for over a year and i still love it! Have fun it is a great car!😎👍🏻
Love the look of the i3s. Tempted to grab some of those fender flares and add slightly wider wheels 😁
Nice choice, and great price! Still own the GTI 2017?
The value proposition on these in the used market is crazy! The chassis is rigid, makes me wonder if they went with a decent size tire how well it could handle with more mechanical grip. Great content as always Chris!
Thanks Jon! Would love to see what this could do with "regular" 7.5-8" wheels. At least the new i3S are now up the 6" with the fender flares
BMW i3 track car with r888 and fender flares would be mad.
Great video keep them rolling. I am curios about apple car play adapter please let me no how to do that? I wonder if anyone has figured how to get even more performance out of i3 ?
I also love the i3 but am very worried about reliability with the earlier model years. How has your been so far?
I'm getting a 2017 and am very excited! For a daily driver and fun weekend car why not try a model 3 or used model S?
My next step is a Model 3. Probably this summer or fall. I got the i3 because it was only $16K with only 12K miles. It’s a 2014. Compare that to a Model 3 at $40K
@@infinite.static I'll sub just for that!! Carmax is shipping me the i3 from Cali and I can't wait. How do you like your juicebox? I need to get a plug in charger (I have an open 240V outlet).
What is fun weekend driving lol
If you have an apartment would this still be a good choice ? How much would that affect charging ?
Liked and subbed
What made you choose the i3 over the vw e-golf ?..i noticed you previously owned the golf. But my the e-golf.
Mainly because I’m not fond of cars that have been retrofitted to be electric. I’d buy the VW ID.3 because that was made from the ground up as an electric car. The same with the BMW i3.
Did you ever do the upgrades on your EV that you talked about in your video?
A few yes. I really really need to shoot an update video. My main business has taken priority over the past year. I still want to restart this channel though.
Did you finish all mods? Wrapping, steering etc? You should film an update
You’re absolutely right I should. I just need to find time. It’s not wrapped and I haven’t had the steering wheel done, but I have had H&R springs and spacers installed and also aftermarket black wheels. Maybe during a warmer weekend day I can film an update.
wrapping yet?
Come back chris!
A M235i isn't a perfect daily and weekend car?!
Not when I figure in the actual cost of the car (was almost $38K). Plus even with my short commute I was still pumping $125+ worth of gas a month as well. It was overkill when I was using it 80% of the time as a daily. The i3 was less than half the price. That frees up money for a pure warm weather car
@@infinite.static Hmm... I don't know. I mean, $38K is a sunk cost, minus what you can sell/trade the car for. And $125 for gas on a 320hp car sound reasonable, to me. But, naturally, used, and heavily depreciated, electric cars will be more efficient.
Did you get rid of your M235i?
Yes I did
I've figured it out. You change the name of your channel every time you change cars!
Great Video! I am currently shopping for a gently used i3... Good Info Here.. Thanks
