Living in Japan, I don't think Fami's level is particularly insane. It's true that they are good at it, but in Japan there is an environment and atmosphere that concentrates on "professional training" in various things.
Whether it's work, music, or study, it's all the same.
When you grow up in such an environment, there are some people who reach a level that is terrifying.
Love Bites is just a band that gathers such "people of a terrible level".

There is some slap in Judgment Day at at least. Also, she is only 20 years old if I'm not mistaken (that's Hal-ca's and Miyu's age).
She is an other one of those young and extremely talented Japanese musicians.
She released an EP in 2021 and the funny thing is that the music on that one can not be more different from Lovebites (very poppy with some rock and funk thrown in), but she has already shown that she can play metal with the released songs off of Lovebites' new album.
Awesome! She does a bit of slap in Judgement Day throughout the song, most noticeable during Miyako's 2nd solo, Haruna also changes her beat to match Fami's slap in that part!! 🤘😊
Miyako wrote and demoed the bass lines before FAMI joined. We won't see what FAMI actually adds to the band until the next album. I think she did change some of the bass lines during the solos since they were a little bit more complex than an orthodox heavy metal bass line would be.
After watching FAMI's videos for a good bit I knew it was her even before they showed her face because she does that little dance all the time while playing. 🤭

There's an interview somewhere where Fami says that Miyako recorded bass guide tracks for the album, then she came in and made her own arrangements of those parts.
We will see more of Fami's techniques on the next album, Judgement Day demo bass lines were already done by Miyako, Fami did changed some accents!
Alien Alien was my first Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid song, which I saw in a bass cover video by HaruchinBass (sadly no longer active). Fami goes a lot harder than Haruchin but Fami just goes hard in general, lol. Also holy cow she got picked up by Lovebites? That's amazing and wonderful!

Wave, you need to watch Judgment day again. Fami slaps pretty much all the way through it. There are sections in the chorus where she separated a bar with 2 beats of picking and 2 of slapping.

I really loved Miho, but this girl is a real monster on bass. She was less than 20 years old when she did her solo album like two years ago. Wrote all songs, sing and did bass. Fami can also play the guitar and even keyboards a little-reminds me at Miyako. With just 21 years old right now, what is she doing is absolutely fantastic. Imagine what she will do with The Woflpack. They choose for a long time and pick her. She is definitely the best choice for Lovebite madness.

There was a lot going on in there! I’ll have to listen again specifically to the bass. 😅
Little heads up. If you're paying close attention to the playing in the video, it doesn't necessarily match up to the audio. Fami has stated that she records the sound separately from the video because she wants to visual part of the video to be entertaining and animated. She can't really play that accurately while bouncing around that much.
It seems that you were pointing out that "the fingers in the video and the sound do not match."
Of course, video and audio are recorded separately.
However, since the sound is played by Fami himself, there is no problem at all.
*Overseas, when singers sing on TV programs, etc., they sometimes move their mouths in time with the music being played and do not actually sing! I've heard a story to say. (The sound source itself is from the record that the person himself is singing...)
If you think it's the same, I don't think it's even a problem.

Yes it's true but Davie504 is still an A-hole. Just look Fami's achievements. Davie is just a cash grab YT cow entertainer from his basement with her Asian gf playing random bass guitar. Also luring unsuspecting boys who simps on mini skirt school girls, which he himself disguise as the kawaii girl.
i wouldnt worry about them utilizing Fami. I dont know for sure but I think its safe to assume that Lovebites had the songs for judgement day written before they even knew who would be the bassist. In the little snippet they posted of the auditions they mention how they are excited for the added color that Fami will bring to Lovebites
You need to go back and watch Judgement Day now that you've seen this video. Brother there was massive slapping! 😁😁 The first time I saw Fami she reminded me of Victor Wooten.

LOVEBITES needs to let Fami go nuts and write some new riff and grooves for their old songs, she is an incredible player. Hearing her playing ring out will really only elevate Lovebits already awesome sound

If I hadn't met Stu Hamm back in 87 before he blew up playing with Joe Satriani, I would have never thought things like that could be done with a Bass. He predates so many others who took up the contrapuntal tapping, as she demonstrates with the two string rt hand tapping while fingering notes with the left. It's quite the exercise trying to play one thing with the right, while fingering something else with left, very much like piano playing. People need to revisit Stu.

To me this the real Fami. The Lovebites version is a calmed down version. If you watch "judgement Day" you will see she is using slapping and plucking the strings.

Fully agree on anything you said about Fami's bass-playing! In the videoclip of "Judgement Day", there were actually a few short moments in which it at least looked like she was slapping, but not anywhere near as prominent as in this short song. If we shouldn't get much to hear of what she has shown she is capable of in this clip on the new album by Lovebites, I hope that the only reason for this will be that the songs were already (mostly) finished before she joined the band, thus they couldn't know they'd find someone who can (also) play like Les Claypool. The fact that slap-bass does function even in connection with Thrash Metal was already proven by Les Claypool years ago, when he played the first minute of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" in that style, as can be seen and heard in this clip: czcams.com/video/8-VFMnwBGSA/video.html And it sounds like the crazy bass-intro of the song "Masque of The Red Death" by Hades (to be found on their debut "Resisting Success" from 1987) is also played with slapping-technique: czcams.com/video/Y7kJ4PHak_c/video.html Even if I should be wrong, that is some great bass-playing which I think Fami could easily pull off as well. Assuming that one of the two shows in Tokyo in March will be recorded, I'm very curious to see and hear if and in how far she will be able/allowed to use her different techniques in the older songs, originally recorded with Miho on bass.

He might listen to you? Not sure how he gets his requests. Have to believe LoveBites is going to incorporate some of this into their songs. Most of the Japanese female bands cross genre's so much, you have to believe it will happen. They have to keep up with the competition, right! Maybe she invented a new style, "Shred Slapping". Ellen and Hovak are friends with, and have played with, Victor Wooten.

@Eyeosphere00 You've phrased this *much* more fairly than Davie504 did. He came across as accusing her of being a charlatan. I was never a fan of his anyway (yes, he's given some very talented bassists the break they need, but he also motivates people to create clickbait instead of beautiful music), but that video alone would make me avoid his channel.

@@kicorse I don't think i have seen the video you are talking about but Davie has had multiple people say the same thing about his videos when he is "playing" in different cities and stuff. He obviously doesn't see anything wrong with playbacking in a video. I think a good bunch of youtube musicians do that and I don't see what the problem is as long as they can play the song.
You shouldn't take Davie's videos too seriously, they are not meant to be serious. I haven't really watched his stuff any more for the last couple of years, but I have watched enough to know that most of what he does on his channel is an act/persona because it works. I wouldn't be surprised that he is a shy/nice guy irl.
These videos are meant to help other bassists out. Just the fact that he shows off these musicians is enough for them to get a lot more subscribers. I know I have subscribed to people he featured on his channel before like Japanese bassist Mina for example or CharlesBerthoud who had a couple 1000 subs when Davie featured him and now has 1.5 million subs. I don't know the guy, but I can almost guarantee you that he knows how lucky he has been with how his channel has grown.
I agree about Charles Berthoud and actually had him in mind with my comment. I know that Davie gave him his big break because I'm subscribed to Charles' channel despite the fact that he feels it necessary to put out mostly clickbait content. It's worth ploughing through that to get the actual pieces of music, which are fantastic. So yes, Davie's helped out for some outstanding musicians, but at the expense of diverting people's efforts from writing beautiful music to trying to look cool (I know this would be happening anyway, but Davie has been a catalyst for it).
I'm also sure you're right that he what he said about Fami wasn't malicious, but when you have >10 million subs, there's a responsibility not to do things like that. It's all very well saying "don't take it seriously", but there are people who believe that young musicians on social media are all faking it, and who do take stuff like this seriously.

Muzicman2112: No it is not true, The LB Members said when Fami comes to the rehearsals they can feel the positive Energy from her,and it was mutual she comes in and the Air seems electrified , and that is what makes the difference to all the others . even if she was not on top of bass playing skill from all the competition they would have chosen her. Skills are not everything. no one would choose someone you have no positive feeling for , and this works the other way around. Her skillset was a bonus for LB and LB was a bonus for Fami.

@Eyeosphere00 Yes they would have considered her skills , but as I said if not the feeling was there we had no fami in Lovebites, we may have Aye or some other Lady playing. it is the same as you meet a woman and you in a split second she is it and if the woman feel the same ,others have no chance . and so it is here , the only thing is they want to give everyone a chance and look for Fami if the feeling are not a one off, and of course maybe they pick up the same feeling they had over Fami. As I heard the statement from Lovebites for me ,Fami was the winner from the day one. Nothing will turn them, not even the skills if another player would be 10 times better than Fami. It was the same thing when Queen looked for a Bass player John Deacon comes in and they knew from the first second he is the one , no one can beat that.
@Eyeosphere00 As I said before her skills , play a big role for her but if the Lovebites member feel not positive with her than she wouldn't have made it . Again you hire no-one if you don't like him, we are hear not in a big company where 1000s of people work who are face and nameless and only a number for Bosses , As a band your married to 3 or 4 People and all of them have different mindsets you have to argue with all of them.

She was 17 at this time. It was to protect her in generaly. Thats not uncommon in Japan.

She was a high school student at the time and was only an amateur; uploading performance videos to CZcams was not her job. It is natural for ordinary people to hide their personal information on the Internet.
Now that she is a professional LOVEBITES member, she no longer hides her face. Still, I have not revealed my real name. It is the same for other members. She is a young woman and I think that is fine.

As @fab1901 has commented Fami's age does not reflect her playing ability.
I know Japanese schools have music as the main part of their curriculum and although Fami is an extreme example, when you look at Band Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie to name a small fraction of the talented female musicians from Japan, their education proves it's worth,

Do not think it was a knock but just evidence she recorded the bass cover and then did a video to go with the cover. I'm pretty sure you are aware of Davie504.
