In this video, we look at the kidneys. I start by discussing the three ways that water can leave the body. We then look at how the kidneys adjust the levels of molecules in the blood and then we finish by looking at how urea is made (for higher tier students).
This video is based on the AQA spec. If you are following a different exam board then you should check your specification. The Amazon link above is an affiliate link. Don’t forget about 2023
@@Soni-jd4li r u joking ? You went into lockdown in like y8 your exams will be fine
… and all the years to come
Honestly, this guy is a life saver....I sucked at science but now I'm getting level 9s and 8s
Im jealous
My g Shaun, what a guy.
ALIE MY GUYY SAVING MY EXAMS AND SHIH
He has enough subs for the Silver Play Button!
idk if this is helpful to anyone but how i literally pass my tests is watch the videos necessary to my topic and after each vid i grab a piece of paper and write down everything i remember i then rewatch it and add any bits i missed once i've watched a few vids i revisit earlier ones and write down what i remember again to keep it clear in my mind. to summarise, watch the video at least twice and write down what you remember after you watch it once and later on when you've done some other stuff. hope this helps someone x
i do exactly this! i also say it all out loud from memory! it helps like wonders!
After you've finished the GCSE courses, do you plan on covering A Level sciences?
I think on another video he did say he is going to, but only for A level biology and chemistry x
This dudes a gift from god
These videos are saving my life- my teacher has never even mentioned half of this stuff before. Thank you so much!!
It has been two years since this was uploaded and he is helping a new generation
This guy has been soooooo helpful!! I hope I do well in my Bio ^^ I really love how your videos are succinct! Straight to the point and no time wasting, ty!!!!
Ah yes, returning my guy Shawns channel for the 100th time for some studying.
best feeling
Thank you for existing, I couldn’t have done it without you.
armyy
SEND MONEY TO SHAUN THE LINK IS IN HIS BIO
my man doing charity work for us thx much appreciated
give this guy an award
These videos are better than what my teachers explain in lessons. Are you planning on doing these videos for A Level? It would be so helpful.
in year 8 and still love this g. Gonna watch this all the way through my schooling life
how is it going
u doin gcse's this year?
You are a legend! Your explanation is really clear and I understand it now - thank you!!!!! :)
Freesciencelessons
when will you release your full workbook?
Sean Paul? Shawn Mendes? Who they
I ONLY KNOW $HAUN
Isn't excess amino acids converted into carbohydrates and fats then stored in the liver?
Well the carbon chain part of the amino acid is. However, the "amino" bit is converted to urea.
April 2021 using these videos at 1:30 to pass my exam, future me how well did you do?
how well did you do
@HQS ??? 9th of may
hey january 2023! how did you do?
Top man! Great video as usual.
Isn't osmosis the diffusion of water from a concentrated to a dilute solution, not the other way around?
It's from a region of high WATER concentration (ie a dilute solution) to a region of low water concentration (ie a concentrated solution).
@@Freesciencelessons Oh okay thanks, just got confused there for a second
Sorry but I'm just interested at to where your accent comes from?
I'm from Newcastle, so it's a Geordie accent although not a strong one.
biology paper 2 exam is in an hour! hahahaha help
lmfao
what exam board are your videos for i do edexcel but yours are in a different order so is the content pretty much the same just in a different order
Sir can u please make A level videos for biology and chemistry for ocr please
how did u levela go
do we need to know about nephrons, and about the structure of the kidney? like the cortex and medulla?
For the AQA GCSE spec in the UK, you only need to know what is covered in the video.
I love you so much. Saved me for biology
Hello sir in 3:15 - what’s the yellow part of the diagram called - is that the vein of the kidney ?
No that's called the ureter. It takes urine from the kidney to the bladder.
congratulations on 400k subscribers - you deserve it. 1m is on the way 😈.
After the GCSE course, would you consider doing the IB biology course as well?
Thanks Shaun 👍
Can i watch these video if im doing edexcel sir?
CZcams View yes
Watching this 20 minutes before my exam 😅
u didnt even need this for that exam💀💀
is the 'tube that you showed in yellow' where the substances were diffusing from the capillaries called the kidney tubules? if not do u know what they are
Yes that's called the tubule.
cheerz ur a legend
Tests next week for us. Good luck guys
how did it go
Explain how the close relationship between a nephron and a capillary supports reabsorption.
Please help.
do u have a Phd?
Hi
If i watch your videos as my only method of revision, will i know absolutely everything i need to know? I’m on AQA and do double science
Are the capillaries called Glomerulus?
so this is correct . the artery contains urea, excess water and excess ions?
Do we have to know ALL of the facts you give in this video, like the fact that the excess ions, water and urea go to the kidney via an artery?
Everything in the videos you need to know if you want to aim for a top grade.
Freesciencelessons ok, thanks for the quick reply!
Are u ever going to do Alevel videos?
Whooo thank you very much sir you did to understand you better
thanks mate love u
@Freesciencelessons are there any videos for CIE Biology on your channel?
How does urea get completely removed from the blood, it must be by active transport right, otherwise if its diffusion the concentration would just be the same in the blood and kidney tubules?
i have no idea buddy
Is this for AQA because I don't think deamination is in Edexcel
A level Physics?
2:52 that tube is the ureter?
Shoudnt u know the structures of the nephrone and the concentration of particlea in different parts of the nephrone
Is the rocket equation apart of alevel physics??
anyone know any other revision techniques that are useful for GCSE?
I watching this 9 mins before my exam…
Are you going to cover A-level science?
Does OCR triple higher cover amino acids
Great thumbnail Tim
His name is Shawn
hi sir, can i ask why do the waste product reaabsorb back into the blood.
The waste products are small molecules and simply diffuse back into the bloodstream.
Hello are u planning to do a level science after finishing gcse science?
Yes, once I have done the workbooks. I'll do Chemistry and Biology A level.
Ur the best science teacher. And ur helpful. Most science teachers over complicate topics
I was just wondering the same thing haha
what about the loop of henle? whats its job?
The principal function of the loop of Henle is in the recovery of water and sodium chloride from urine.
I have my bio GCSE in 2hrs, Help
Joe Smith lolol how'd it go?
I'mma have my Bio C.I.E in 2022, and I'm scared af.
@@cat.227 that's in two years haha just chill... honestly, a month is enough to revise one subject, and generally people take 8-10 subjects so I suggest you start seriously panicking a year before your finals.
Here's me a day before exam actually enjoying making flashcards that actually work.
how did it go
is this for edexcel
Sir, does water get lost via respiration?
Hi I'm not the teacher and am in year 9 but I think I can help. Water is a waste product of respiration so respiration creates water, if you have too much water the kidneys remove the excess water like in the video. Sorry I'm not as smart as Sir.
i l o v e you for this
Thank u sir x
amazing
which exam board is this for? In edexel, we need to know about glomerulus and Bowman's capsule inside the nephron.
someone in another comment said its AQA
2023 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Got my exam today😭
GOOD
i love you
Sir,
Is this course exactly the same as Cambridge IGCSE 0610?
I think IGCSE covers more and different things than GCSE, but maybe
What’s your job? Teacher or something else to do with science?
If there is urea in sweat then sweat is like pee
and the more protein rich foods you eat, the more your sweat smells!
Do we need to know about ADH
Only for triple Biology. It's in the video "Control of water by the kidney"
what a BABE
