Giant 10 foot Alaska Brown Bear | Mark Peterson Hunting
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 17. 05. 2021
- This episode is a throwback hunting trip from 2016 when Mark Peterson traveled to the Alaska peninsula to try and harvest a world class brown bear. After delayed flights due to weather and completing their Alaska waiting period Mark was finally able to get our and hunt. Lance and Mark headed to a glassing hill to look for bears. Bears in the spring are hard to hunt but it is the rut so if you spot a good bear the game is on and its zero to one hundreds miles and hour to get in front of the bear for a shot.

That conversation while glassinâ so on point. And nothing but the truth. Fellowship is the best part of any hunt.
Thatâs right. Glad you enjoyed it.
Now I believe the Missing in Alaska crew wasnt just making up stories of giant bears lol
Lol
Very good hunt! Congrats!đ
Thanks for the video
You bet, glad you liked it.
Good video great Hunt. You are hunting guide was very informative in the information he was telling you.
Big Bear!!!
Thanks for watching, he was a great guide.
congratulations, a beautiful bear.
Thank you very much!
Grate job, thank you.

Thanks, glad you like my content.
That guide gave the most honest answer he possible could have on why we hunt great job sir.
Yeah, he is a one of a kind guide. Thanks for watching.
I think a lot less of him trying to weave âGodâ into this. Iâve been around a lot of hunters. They do it to prove something. The only respectable hunter I know are the ones on foot. No trucks, no ATVâs and they are gathering food for their family. A few are blood thirsty. The guy bitching about the weather, yet he thinks heâs awesome because he killed a bear. SMH.
The guide conversation is honest and sincere đđđ
Lance is a one of a kind guide.
"Don't think you are going to hunt the Alaska peninsula and have fun". Made me laugh out loud!!!
Reminds me of a guy who shot a large mile deer down in a gorge full of fallen timber had to get horses and pack mule to get it all back to base camp
Love it nice đ

That bear can make even the biggest tiger look like a kitten
You got that right !
But a tiger would easily kill and eat the bear
â@Dar Lmfao no, no it wouldn't. The bear would maul it if not outright kill it. Must be a kitty lover đ

After he busted out of that first bunch of brush i was like hit him again. I saw that ditch coming and was like oh that sucks. You knew he was gonna end uo in the bottom. Oh well! Great bear. What did he measure?
haha exactly the thought going through our heads. The bear skull was 27 5/8th (17 5/8 & 10). Made the 3 year B&C book.
cool
Thanks for the video just wondering I thought I heard years ago that all meat has to come out even from bears now is that true thank you
No the meat from bears doesnât not have to come out in Alaska. However if not thoroughly cooked bear meat can contain trichinella and is potentially lethal to humans. If you do plan to eat the meat it must be cooked thoroughly. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.
@@MarkVPeterson thanks Mark was a bear guide for twenty years in Alberta Canada eating bear few times I just thought that was a silly rule
How is the bear transported from where itâs killed? What is done with the meat, which I understand is delicious ?
We transported the bear in multiple trips. Quarters in packs to where a plain would pick us up. It can be delicious as long as itâs cool well and prepared well.
How did you end up moving it?
Caliber used please
What cartridge was used ?
It's way colder in north Dakota then this video.when u go huntingđ€Ł

Wish I could see more of the size of the bear. Most I saw of it up close was hind paw pad...and a bit of their back. Kinda feel jipped
No dog to track it if you injure it?
Is it safe to touch the Bear with bare hands? Won't you get parasites?
You can surely touch the bear with bare hands. There is only a chance of getting a parasite when you eat the meat.

@@MarkVPeterson what a stupid reply
@@MarkVPeterson How did you get it out? Lol
Since Mark hasn't responded...
I would guess they skinned that big ole boar right there. It looked tight but doable, sometimes you might have to reduce the mass (cut into quarters/chunks) and move it outta the way. It's the way it's done. That bear isn't getting outta that ditch, been there and done that! Very nice bear and not a great spot but all your looking to do is retrieve is the hide and skull. This is all part of the memories! Congrats on a great bear.

I usually carry a .375 Ruger.
Because that's the way we're made. Amen
Thrill of a lifetime. Congratulations.
They call it sport - is it?
You spent thousands of dollars and brought tons of gear and then risk tearing your license by using s knife to notch it. You know you can buy a little scissors for $1-$2 and bring that with your puke if gear and then cut your license in the proper spot no risk of tearing it and invalidating it. Just a tip from someone whoâs hunted for decades and always have a scissors to notch my tag
That is a great tip.
Dream hunt for sure and great bear! Out of curiosity Mark what was your cartridge and bullet selection? Iâm also running a Christensen Arms (300 Win Mag) and trying to decide what bullet to use in Alaska. Thinking 180gr Swift Scirocco 2 on the mainland and the 200gr A-Frame if Iâm ever on Kodiak.
This was a Ruger .375. I can not remember for the life of me what bullet I was running at that time. Let me get back to you on that, but I would say your on the right tract for sure.
@@MarkVPeterson This is a Christensen. It is not a Ruger. You're too evasive in general for no reason...I hope all is well for you, good luck.

Thank you. It was an amazing hunt.
Only wap I know about is Meg the stallion and Cardi b
What a magnificent beast. I've no issue with hunting as long as you eat what you kill, not just hide harvesting. What would be cool is for hunters to go out and tranquilize these beasts, take bloodwork and measurements, take photos, etc then let them be on their way. I'm 100% meat eater but not just for a hide or a mount.
Bear kill and eat bears. Hunters kill some of the big bears so dozens of younger bears can have room to grow and mature. The old big ones have already bred so their genes are in the pool
>as long as you eat what you kill, not just hide harvesting
Abitrary shit standard. Doesn't make a difference whether you want to meat or hide.
>I'm 100% meat eater but not just for a hide or a mount.
You're not even a tiny bit better than people, who kill for pretty souvenirs. Worse actually, because a souvenir lasts for a lifetime, while meat has to be gotten by killing over and over again.
Everyone replying to this comment is missing something: Management. We have to manage animal numbers to help prevent widespread disease, and over use of habitat.
American bison perfect example. Killed for the hides and to starve the natives.

Well bear have cubs now orphaned because of hunting left to starve to death
They never ever harvest a sow with cubs. It's taboo. Hunters fund the public lands and protection of species. They do a hell of a lot more to help, preserve, and conserve our natural resources than the people making negative comments about a subject they are apparently totally ignorant about.

Does it taste different from black bear?
It does not taste that different, just make sure you cook it completely.
Sorry dudes I can get behind this. I spent 6 months out on the peninsula observing filming and photographing those big boys. They are are the most majestic and beautiful creatures living on earth. There is no good reason on earth to go out there and kill one. I found it thrilling and fun to watch and photograph these guys in all kinds of weather. I am not a religious man but Killing one of these beasts when it is not an absolute necessity (like when its chewing your leg off) I believe is a sin.Its in our DNA to kill to eat. Caribou, deer and beef taste better.
Just because an animal is majestic doesnât mean you should hunt them. It is conservation. Hunters are the only ones truly fighting for public lands, and a lot their tag money, license money, etc. goes back into conservation of the species. Itâs about the species of a whole not one single animal
Trees are Majestic and Beautiful as well, perhaps you might go Hug oneâŠâŠâŠ.đ

There are around 175,000 Brown Bear left in the world, and almost 8 billion people. Do the math, and preserve wildlife instead of killing it. Please.
Bro do the math. 99% of people donât have enough money to hunt a brown bear. Then out of that percentage, not many are hunters. And out of the hunters with the money, not many even want to or ever will kill a brown bear. Also there is a quota of animals killed each year for every species. Do your research.
Very annoying music
Why did you kill a bear?
Because it was a bear hunt, you canât kill a moose on a bear hunt.
Boy must feel real good to shoot an animal. We're supposed to be impressed? Get back to me when you kill a bear without a gun, tough guy. Then I'll be impressed.
@@saucyjack77 well we evolved to use tools, we dont have claws and fangs.
It's called conservation. If we don't deliberately cull the herds to keep the numbers at a healthy level for their environment, then they will overpopulate and nature will get involved with disease and starvation. But this will affect all the animals involved. Strategically culling the herd is more humane as the animals are dispatched quickly instead of dying slowly from disease, starvation, or predation by other animals. There are plenty of videos showing natural predation, on utube. I can guarantee you a hunter is much quicker and much more humane in dispatching the animal. Besides it is our place in life to do so. We are predators in this life and are just fulfilling our part in the balance of nature and the food chain. We are just evolved enough to do it in a more efficient, and humane, and smarter fashion, so we don't overdo it. Unfortunately, our evolvement has separated so many people from real life, that they don't even realize any more that they are a part of nature and the food chain. They think food comes from grocery stores. All that meat in the store, was harvested from living animals, its called the food chain. Thank you for demonstrating this last type of person.

Leave the darn bears alone, those things are rare. Kill prey, not predators.
No they arenât. Just because they donât live where you do, doesnât mean they are rare
@@WilcoxOutdoors They are rare. I like bears. Predators are less in numbers than prey. Obvious I know, but there can only be as much prey as the space allows, this space is normally in preserved parks. You're statement was dumb as sh!t by the way.
Way to state the most obvious đ
Great job bud
@@klaus6178 bruh use your brain. If you kill only prey, then the ratio of prey and predators become unbalanced and then there is no more prey because there are too many predators. If we still continued doing nothing about the predators then there would eventually be a huge decline in their numbers as well because they start to run out of food. If there are going to be hunters (which there are and always will be) then it is our job as hunters to conserve and be smart about what animals we harvest and how many. Just because you like bears doesnât mean they donât need to be kept in check.
@@WilcoxOutdoors I don't care if you kill bears. Kill the bears. Kikl the deer, I really don't care as long as we follow the laws so the things don't go extinct. And extinction isn't a threat to bears so I don't care. The only reason I commented about not killing them is because I admire them. They are the most powerful land predator. I'm talking about strength and brutality. The polar bear is the largest and strongest, the grizzly is also huge and would take a lion or tiger on. Even a black bear took on two lions in a video and was able to get away. Why there was a black bear there I don't know... So that is it. Just admiration for the apex predator.
@@klaus6178 ok thats good that we both agree on following the laws for hunting because i hate poachers so much
Amazing how when persons donât have an answer, they answer with a non answer, ie, god.
Would love to see the bear take your hide off!
Why did you kill a magnificent animal that was of no threat to you or yours. WHAT A MAN.
Because yu can.
Because its called conservation. Numbers have to be controlled so that the animals don't become over populated and the animals eat themselves out of house and home. If we don't do it, mother nature gets more involved and disease and starvation thins the herd, but this affects all the animals involved. If we practice controlled hunting to keep the numbers at a healthy level, the remaining animals stay healthier. In fact, our doing so is actually a part of mother natures plan. We are predators in the scheme of life and we are just fulfilling our part in the balance of nature and the food chain. We are just evolved enough that we can now do it in a better, more humane fashion.
