@@robertmoss53 actually it’s about a custodian up west’s son who died on his way to ‘the big league.’ Tom has said it’s not about anyone really but it’s about all Canadians. He’s a true talent and Canadian gem.

Toms' song was originally written when the Lethbridge Broncos were in a similar fatal accident on a bus trip. it is unbearably sad that this was repeated with the Humbolt Broncos. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends and everyone whoever played our national addiction. We are all deeply saddened. Go Broncos!
You meant the 1986 Swift Current Broncos but in fact the song was written for a man who lost his son in an accident similar.

I’m from Australia and my boy is just about to transition from in-line to ice. This hits me in the throat pretty hard. Not sure what happened to these boys but I’ll learn after this song. I grew up listening to this voice everyday on my mixtape. What a lovely tribute with existential words of wisdom not spoken often enough but now will be sung forever!

You can see the sadness and emotion in Tom's face. He holds back tears multiple times during the song and he is visibly distraught. A beautiful and sad song at the same time.

Well done, Tom. I hear your original song often on the highway 97 to work in BC. I can't stop choking up when I hear it. I loved your song moons before the Humboldt tragedy, but then I listened to it in a different way. Today it just breaks me up. Every parent knows this.

While everybody is busy surfing CZcams and facebook, and being mauled, I realized that there will be a football season again this season, now that hockey is wrapping up. I love good, clean sport. I think that live sport, and show business (hahahaha), is improvisation and competition maximized and intertwined with the whole experience shared.
Humboldt is a great place full of the nicest people and when I heard about what happened it was so sad and I tried to donate what I could to help the families

Rick Clarke He actually wrote it about a youth hockey player who had died in a car crash in the 80s. But yes, the song also fits the humboldt tragedy.
