The frame rate always bewildered me though. It looks like it's running at 20-25 FPS and has a cap on that. As far as I can see it's not doing anything too taxing graphics wise as the sprites aren't large and there's not much happening on screen. There's no music either, so I don't see any reason why it couldn't have run at 50FPs.
@@Jamesharveycomics To be honest It was archaic even for a 1980 game. It had nice graphics and a nice atmosphere, that's all. Dull controls, over complicated puzzles and a terrible framerate made it a mediocre game. The best BP game was Speedball 2(a truly masterpiece at the time) they should have invested more in that title in the past.
@@saporob Chaos Engine was another awesome game from Bitmap Brothers. It was one of the best multidirectional shooters along with Alien Breed series from Team 17. Gods was a decent game praised for the atmosphere/graphics/music rather than the gameplay which was kind of clunky compared to other similar games for the Amiga. I prefered titles like Yo Joe, Traps N' Treasures and Ruff N' Tumble. More dynamic gameplay and also nice graphics and sound.
My family had an Amiga 500, with the demo of Gods. I just completed The Nintendo Switch version of Gods Remastered. I did a blind playthrough, but I looked for this video the day after I completed it. This is such an expert no-death run. Bravo and God bless.
LOVED this game. Lost so many hours to it. I think I once cleared it about three times and had lives all the way across the top of the screen. Had to turn it off in the end. Must've been a five hour shift. Just such a really good, creative game with great gameplay and some excellent baddies and weapons. Boss (Titan) Fights 17:0048:001:11:00 1:40:30
I'm much better now with keyboard controls than back then with joystick, now games like Gods and Leander are much easier for me. Joystick controls was too hard for me so I was glad to have cheats for most games back then.
@@vapourmile This game doesn't run any faster under PC DOS than it runs on vanilla A500. Its intro music is using quite advanced sound samples, and the entire game is filled with fancy voice samples as well-a hard feat to squeeze them with all graphics and sprites into measly 512KB to 1024KB of RAM.
@ShadowAngel I agree. Always thought this game was overrated. The stage design is subpar, gameplay is straight up boring as hell, the controls are terrible, and look how choppy the scrolling and animations are. It isn't a very good game at all.
@ShadowAngel There was absolutely nothing wrong with the controls in this game, and there was nothing generic about the level design. I don't know how you got the impression that there was.
OMG! My friend and I were addicted to this game and spent many long nights playing and solving the puzzles. I think we finally cracked it...lol Thank You for loading this, nicely played.
First time I look so long at a game played by someone. Good job. Those games looked really classy, everything was so well made along with a perfect gameplay.
I played this game during mid 90's, at my cousin's house, he was a star with a brand new expensive IBM pc. I don't care if I play it at all, the moment that I captured was priceless and couldn't replace with modern gaming at all. Maybe it was a great childhood.
The dragon is easy as long as you get the big spinning golden gem before the fight, then place that gem into the middle of the boss area before the dragon comes out, that way he will NEVER fly past where the gem is placed, it makes the fight easier
@@TheArrow1987 actually it makes the fight outright trivial. With 3 spears, simply standing left, dodging the occasional tail blast, the Dragon is even easier than the Centurion!
I had the PC version of this. I have no idea how far through the game I made it, I'd have to watch this whole video to see where I stop remembering the gameplay. What I fondly remember the most about the game was that music at the beginning and the sound effects. At the time, those kind of sounds coming from a computer would have been very new, with new sound cards etc. - and they're so crisp and fun to listen to.
I remember that being the big selling point of the Amiga. Unfortunately I never knew anyone who owned one at the time, so I never got to see it for myself.
Wow, i finally found this game. It was 1994 when i first saw it at my friend who lived in front of me, but didn't get to know the game well as i didnt speak english back then. Still nice to find something to recall that time. Thanks
After 21 years, I finally see this game again. Thanks. I finally get to see how this game ends. I remember where I got stuck. Wasn't able to finish this due to a tech issue.
Had this back in the early 90`s and loved it, it was the 1st game I ever played and completed. Anyone remember Xenon? 1988 game by the Bitmap Brothers Great game but was too hard, my mate was ace at it.:-(
I enjoy these videos for Amiga games that I’d see advertised in magazines like VG&CE but never see in person because no one I knew had an Amiga growing up. It just didn’t do as well in the States as in the UK.
There's something about the graphics in bitmap brothers games that I've always loved, I think it's just awesome palette choice but they all look great. You deserve more than 9.6k subs btw, great channel.
It's amazing game spent many hours playing that hehe in my childhood. It's so cool how people from different countries enjoy play this game and others and share their experiences
Omg. Memories. I remember this game. Commander keen. Doom. Rastan. Lhx attack chopper. Duke nukem . Lucas arts games. And leuisure suit Larry series. So many more shareware demos too on those multi cds

In answer to your question on the 4 slotted 3 item inventory, posed in the description-linked blog review: It is rather elegant and actually allows usage of 4 items. E. g., it is possible to sneak an invulnerability potion into world 4-3. Successively store the alchemist tools on the fourth step on that stairway below his lair. The trapdoor key needed to access the lab spawns when all three tools are held while being on that step. Sitting is okay. While sitting, 4 items may be held, allowing for all three tools, while not having to drop the potion. This is useful in a number of points in the game.
