Winter Bass Fishing Mastery Kayak Cranking Adventures on Sportsman Lake-Weather Success with fishing
Sportsman Lake is located 5 miles east of Seminole, Oklahoma and is nearly 2 miles long and over 1/4 mile wide. It is a great fishing lake and is known for producing giant bags of largemouth year-round.
I did not have high hopes fishing two days before Christmas but the weather lined up nicely. Water temps were in the high 50s and we had warming trend.
As for fishing with a square bill, it is a popular technique for catching bass in shallow water. The square bill helps the lure deflect off of cover and triggers reaction strikes from fish. I really focused on hitting it against any cover I could locate and the technique worked well. A shallow water crankbait can be deadly in the winter if used correctly.
