I have been type one for 19 of my 30 years of life in Ontario just like your boy. It is so much more manageable now than when I was a kid. The technology is great now from when I was a kid. I still fish all the time and hunt all the time. He will be fine with parents like you guys.
My little boy and I watch your videos almost every night to wind down before bed, and we watched a lot last year when he was in the hospital with RSV. Prayers for your family Jay, and keep up the good work and just being you. You’re a role model to more than you know! 🫡
You’re all going to be fine! I was diagnosed at age 9. That was 44 years ago. Get on the insulin pump as soon as possible. No more shots. Then get the Dexcom 7 and let it tell you his blood sugar every 5 minutes with no more finger sticks! His pump will be his new pancreas and he will be fine! Love you brother!! Messsge me if you have any questions. I’m also a registered nurse for 7 years now in my old age of 53.:)
It is just so unfortunate for things like this to happen in someone’s life. But it is so nice to see someone put their trust into God and let him take care of his boy. Jay has to be one of the best people on CZcams not just because of his content but he has such a great personality. Love you Jay. Praying for your family🙏
Hannan, you are in my prayers, little man🩵🙏🙏🙏🩵 If Hannan is like his Mom and Dad, he is a tough boy💪🩵 Hang in there, Jay and Sam, that had to have been scary! You are right, Jay... life is not always fishin & roses... it's filled with many speed bumps❤ the video of Hannan with that huge fish lol priceless. As always... amazing video!👍👍
Hey Jay, I just met you at the Toronto Sportsman’s Show on the weekend. I’m a little behind in watching your videos otherwise I would have said something there. I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for 39 years. Still going, and it’s all because of God. Praying for your family and especially Hannon. God is good! He’s on your side, and will always be there through the tough days.
Prayers to you and the family. Having a sick child is the worst feeling in the world. I’m glad everything worked out in the end. Beautiful puppy, goldens are the best family dogs we have a 7 year old that still acts like a puppy.
My daughter got diagnosed with T1D two years ago. She was a month away from turning 17. After a yearly check up her doc told me to drive her to the hospital, they know your coming. Don’t stop until you get there. It was intense. After about 1 hour in her room they sent us to the PICU. Where we spent the next two days on an insulin drip and learning the new challenges she/we would face. It’s super scary, but it does get better. I do still have dexcom on my phone so I’m alerted when she gets too low or too high. Again, stay positive, people have been living a normal life with T1D for a long time. Just an adjustment.
I commented on your original post on IG, but I just wanna say again, having a good support system is huge with Type 1 diabetes. I’ve been a Type 1 diabetic since I was 9, and am now 27. I live a full life without any problems today. The technology has come so far, and sometimes it’s almost like I don’t even have it. You guys are great parents, and your sons in good hands.
Stay strong bro my little girl is 15 now diagnosed when she was 11. It gets a little easier as they get older…I have been told even easier when they are done being teenagers…believe it when I see it
I’m a type 1 diabetic and one of my greatest fears in life is my kids will eventually be diagnosed with it too. It’s scary stuff. Thankfully we have so many amazing tools for managing diabetes now and they’re only getting better. I’m glad you guys caught it when you did. Sometimes it goes on for months before people catch it. Hang in there and take care.
Perspective is everything in those situations. You and sam seem to have a great perspective on it all. Take it all in, learn everything you can. My daughter had 6 surgeries from day 1 to just under 1 year old. Two air flights and 6 months total in the hospital. Today is her 1 year anniversary from open heart, and she'll be 1 and a half in 2 days. It's a never ending battle. You guys are a wonderful family and it's very obvious that you'll handle it all really well. Hannen's a lucky dude.
Many prayers to you and your entire family 🙏🏼 💪🏼 ❤ Our tight budget does not allow for a camera above the phone/ go pro…. Thank you so much for the quick tips! Goldens are the best! ❤ 🌲 Thank you for your wonderful content Jay!
Praying for you Jay, Sam, and little H. Scary stuff when a child ends up in a situation like this. Thanks for sharing your faith and acknowledging where your strength comes from. God is good! Blessings on you and your family! Great video!
This is the biggest reason I’ve been enjoying volunteering for Kidfish. Raising money for the children’s hospital where so many kids have been through. Myself included once upon a time. Glad to hear he is okay! Keep going Jay 🤙🏼
It's a fairly big learning curve. But, you'll be fine. My sister was diagnosed when she was 7 and it was a huge life change for my family. We learned to live a lifestyle that fit her. Once she was able to get an insulin pump it was life changing. Made things so easy for her. You guys got this!
My heart bleeds for you and Sam I lost the love of my life 2 1/2 years ago to keto acidous. You are so lucky they got Hammy back to normal. Love the above picture of your family
jay as someone who lived with type 1 its alot of work but you guys are the best parent he could ask to be with him on it. ik its scary but you guys got this heads up
I haven’t commented much in my attempts to marathon watch all your videos but I’ll chime in here. Feeling powerless as something happens to your immediate family, especially wife or child is the worst feeling in the world. When my third child came into the world she had a prolapsed chord and my wife had to be rushed into surgery for an emergency c-section. All I could do was sit and cry feeling that one of them wouldn’t come back through the door. Fortunately that wasn’t the case and everything turned out fine.
It's a scary thing to see your kid in a hospital bed. We had to rush my son to mayo a few years ago and stay a month. It changes how you see things that's for sure. So glad your son is doing better.
thank you and Sam for sharing Hannan's diagnosis with us. Juvenile/Type 1 Diabetes is so much better understood and treated these days, very scary witnessing the symptoms but he should be fine.research
I’m so glad Hannon is doing better and back home with you guys! He’s a strong little man ❤❤ Thanks for all the updates Jay! Best of wishes for you and the family!!
I got diagnosed was I was almost 2 and and gonna be turning 30 this year its full of ups and downs but with the technology that's available nowadays it makes it easier. Hopefully there's a summer camp near you for kids with diabetes like there is here in Iowa it helped me out a ton.
What a difficult road to walk as a parent. My heart goes out to you guys! When I was in high school I had a teacher with diabetes who had a golden retriever as a diabetic assistance dog, she could open doors, turn on lights, open the fridge and so much more. Might be a neat resource for your family as you start training your new pup!
so much love brother. I love watching your stuff - you're a true passion for the sport and seem like an honest good guy who cares. Also Sam was right, the pup made the video ;)
Having a kid in the hospital is the most scared and helpless I have ever felt as a father. Lots of prayers and patience got us through, but it was pretty tough for a couple years. You'll find a new normal that you can deal with. Love the videos and if you ever make it to AK I'd love to meet you.
Jay you're an inspiring and such a positive person. Keep the faith brother. I sorry to hear about the scary situation. But so glad you everyone is doing well now. You make some incredible content! I know everyone here would say the same thing!
Lots of prayers for you, Sam, and your family. Tough go for sure. Lots of success out there with Junior Diabetes; we contribute every year in support of friend’s whose kids live full lives with it. Hannan will prosper with your support!!
My wife and i went through the same thing with our youngest daughter at what looks to be the same age. Our daughter had just turned 2 when it happened. The learning curve for diabetes its a trip for sure. I'll pray for you all especially your son.
Ive been type 1 for 21 years of my 30 year life, I go on adventures. I fish everyday, I'm healthier than most 30 year olds according to my doctor. Life goes on, the technology these days is amazing. Things will get easier again!
Terrifying as a parent. So glad you guys got him checked out. I know our kids are coming down with stuff all the time so I probably wouldn’t have thought much of it either at first. What a strong little dude!
Also have a kiddo that was diagnosed with type 1 when she was 5. That was 4yrs ago. There will be constant ups, and constant downs and you will continuously question what you are doing. Your kiddo will question why him? But then, as all parents, that’s when our true super powers kick in. Every day is a blessing, don’t forget that. Welcome to the T1 family, keep the juice and the insulin handy, and the lines tight good sir.
Hey Jay, my sister was diagnosed with type 1 in elementary school, and growing up with it makes it a lot easier. Pumps and other technology developed recently have made it much easier to deal with. You will all grow with it and best of luck going forward!! You got this
My wife has T1D and was diagnosed at 6. It's tough. Continue to learn everything you can about about the disease. I know you mentioned all the diabetic training you and your wife had to do and my best advice is to teach all of the information you are consuming to all that will listen. My wife and I got together 10 years ago. She hasn't gone into DKA since she was 6 until September of last year. While I was sick with Covid she had her CGM and Site for her pump fail. She skyrocketed into the 700s for her blood glucose levels. We missed her signs going into DKA and I ended up finding her passed out. Thankfully, I got her to the hospital and she was able to recover. I forgot the DKA signs and I wish I hadn't. Stay strong I'm sending all my love to your entire family
Jay and Fam keep your chins up. Bright days ahead. My boy has been dealing with kidney and bladder issues for his whole life. He’s Soon to be 9. welcome to the "did the cabin burn down" club. We've had our cabin for 17 years now (on a lake). 2 hours from home. We go there EVERY weekend May-October. Probably took me 5 years to get past wondering if it was still standing every time I pulled down the dirt road.
Stay strong brothur... one of my best friends and my little brother have been type 1 diabetic since they were babies as well... I know how hectic that can be my friend... much love Sam and jay!!!
Thoughts and prayers. Once you've been in a situation like that, hard not to feel for someone else going through it, no matter what it is, it's your kid. thinking of your family here in Wisconsin. Its scary when a child is sick. But the blessing is knowing what it is and now manageable. hard work, but as he grows he will know the signs and adjust accordingly.
Nothing worse than when one of your children is sick. Especially when they are too young to understand what’s going on. You and Sam are doing a great job and have an amazing support team! Mrs. W and I send hugs and warm thoughts. PS say hi to your folks. Haven’t seen them since TnT’s!
Our family went through the exact same thing with out then 3 year old. Love that clip of you getting high fives! That moment is still burned in my mind more than 3 years later. Such an amazing feeling to see that kid you would give anything for act like themselves again. The technology that's out there to help manage T1D is amazing and makes life so much easier. It's a long shot but happy to talk through some of the highs and lows you'll experience navigating this "new normal".
DER-CA in Winnipeg is an awesome resource. We were introduced to them and lived your exact journey 24 years ago. My daughter is 26 now T1D and celiac and has scuba dived, snowmobiled, backcountry camped and hiked. I felt those emotions all over again. Best to all of you. (on a much more trivial matter - I got a 24 Expy this year too! - but where is the snow!)
A kid in the hospital is a dad’s worst nightmare. He’s a strong little dude! Best to your family sir.

Im in the same boat as you. I agree with ya 100%
Stay strong, ❤ you have a lot of people in your corner, retrievers make amazing family dogs they are so good with kids.
I love all your videos, I'm Glad your son is ok. Worst pain ever seeing your child sick and in hospital
Type 1 diabetic for 27 years myself, remember the trip to the DER in Winnipeg at 13. Diabetic management has come along ways, you guys will rock it!
My little boy and I watch your videos almost every night to wind down before bed, and we watched a lot last year when he was in the hospital with RSV. Prayers for your family Jay, and keep up the good work and just being you. You’re a role model to more than you know! 🫡

Jay you are being sooo strong for your boy! Love to you, Sam and Hanan❤❤❤
Wow just wow, so glad to see this video. Hardly thru half and reallyn happy for ya all
My wife and i went through the same thing with our youngest daughter at what looks to be the same age. Our daughter had just turned 2 when it happened. The learning curve for diabetes its a trip for sure. I'll pray for you all especially your son.

I wish you and your family all the best! A loving family is a strong medicine

Great video , glad to hear your family is well. Blessed
As a type1 diabetic I highly recommended a Cgm ( continious gluecose monitor ) . For diabetics they are a game changer !
Prayers to your family. I enjoy the content.
Jay and Fam keep your chins up. Bright days ahead. My boy has been dealing with kidney and bladder issues for his whole life. He’s Soon to be 9. Has had one major surgery already but all you do is pray for help keep the faith and God will take care of you guys. We have seen it in our family. All the best. Thanks for the great videos and content. This too shall pass.
I wish the best for you and your family Jay!
You guys got this!!!! I had to go thru quad by-pass a couple years ago at the age of 46. Today I turned 49 and I truly feel good. The one thing thru my whole experience is that trust the doctors and nurses. The nurses especially, they are some of the most exceptional people on earth. Your boy looks great at this time and I am sure you two will be able to manage this. My families thoughts are with your family at this time. Hope all is well into the future.
welcome to the "did the cabin burn down" club.
Faith, attitude and perspective can't always move the mountains in front of us, but they sure do help with dealing with navigational challenges and hurdles. And act as the gps through the fog of the unknowns.
I am happy that your boy is doing better. I will be praying for him and your family
Glad he’s okay sending love from Ontario 🎣
My thoughts and prayers to you and your family! I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes at 10y myself. Glad to hear you caught it!
Thanks Jay! Praying for you and your family. I used to volunteer at Children's Hospital, and there's something about seeing a child suffer that makes one cry out to God.
Prayers to you and your family Jay! Love that you are continuing to put your faith in the Lord during these hard times.
Prayers to your son and family!! May he continue to grow stronger and amaze his parents the hurdles he can concur!
Much respect to you for showing that life is not always rainbows and sunshine. Sorry to hear about your son and thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know first hand how hard it is to see your son go through medical problems as my son lost his fight to cancer at the age of 8 and its such a helpless feeling as a father to see what they are going through and not be able to fix it. Hey have you ever thought about a small wind turbine 400/600 W.

My father just had the same thing happen at over 40 years old, very glad your son is ok ❤
Hang strong ! The cabin is so amazing..🤟👌♥️
Nothing worse than when one of your children is sick. Especially when they are too young to understand what’s going on. You and Sam are doing a great job and have an amazing support team! Mrs. W and I send hugs and warm thoughts. PS say hi to your folks. Haven’t seen them since TnT’s!

Best wishes for an excellent treatment plan and prayers for a speedy recovery and return home for your son.
prayers to your little boy!
Hey jay this is one of the most genuine channels on CZcams. Everything will be okay
Big hugs for you and your family...
Being a parent never ends! 🙏🙏 to u and ur family for a speedy recovery. Happy wife happy life!
When I was in Florida a few years ago my wife and I took a picture of a squirrel in a tree eating a full slice of pizza
