- hello everyone it's Kitti!! ♡ I honestly contemplated releasing this one but I might as well document my reaction to such a substantial change :)

this new ui only took another precious thing from my childhood. i absolutely despise the urge nowadays to make all icon designs look so flat, "minimalistic", and UNINSPIRED.

Lets be honest. This game isn't what (older gen players) signed for. Its like a new game that just happend to have similar name. Thats why many old gen quit the game, they are changing things, but not for better, but for worse. I mean, don't get me wrong. Changing UI was needed, but not looking like this... They could just have the same style, but update it to look fresh (if that makes sense). Same with story. I feel like all thats left is their names, while everything else have changed. If the new team wanted to change everything so much, they could've just make Star Stable Online Spin Off or something like that
Well said, if they want a game to do whatever they want with, they should *make a new game*.
I increasingly wish someone would buy the IP. Or start a Springdale game.
I wish the game grew with the players! With all of the (alleged) money they receive, they could've easily done a spin-off for the younger generation like you mentioned. I mean .. how is it possible that they did better 10 years ago with less employees, less money and less tools compared to now? Sooo random .. Thank you for your comment!! ♡

@@helIokitti yeah, it's best to let the younger kids enjoy sso for what it is now. The new UI was too big of a change for many of us, add to it the fact that we're screaming into a void, never to be heard

yeah I think this is going to be it for me lol. ui is very important for a game because it's literally the one thing you see every second in the game that you can't change (besides maybe light/dark mode). you can't afford mess it up like this especially when a good chunk if not a majority of your fanbase is on edge with you.
I agree .. the ui is quite depressing to look at!! Just because it no longer has that Star Stable charm to it D: A lot of my friends asked me do they have an option to have multiple different layouts and sadly that is not the case .. and I'm sure if there were options it would be quite risky to implement bc of their alleged broken engine :p I'm bracing myself for the character update, which will inevitably be my breaking point haha. Oh, I love the old SSO reshade shader! (Even if it's a bit too light compared to the old graphics.
Anyway: I can totally agree with you about the game team. They are a marketing company now. Like any other big company in total in the world. I loved (and love) the game before the Silverglade update (I mean not the village here).. And I loved the most of the things, that they removed (those old soundtracks, the old sunset lighting, the horse island..)
I think they could make their game better with the same game style and the things they had. The problem is that they didn't actually updated the things. They moved everything they created to the TRASH. They didn't make the old textures better, they didn't updated the OLD models (and their animations) with the same game style, they ignored them. So they lost their old community and "replaced" it with another, which is interested in the current game. (And those old players like me, who still play because of the memories and some old friends)
Mostly not the money is that makes something good. In this case: it was the community and the OLD team was that, who made it good. Why am I saying old team? Oh, JUST because...
I want to add one more thing that only a few people know about.
The current team (Star Stable Online Entertainment) isn't the team that made and coded the game and the game engine. (You may say now: What?!)
Pixel Tales was the company who created the Starshine and Star Stable series + Star Stable Online.
Star Stable Entertainment was just a team that worked with them. They were the marketing sector.
But over the years, the SSE company started to be jealous and in 2015 they said in an interview: We created a good team with Pixel Tales, however now we feel a bit uncomfortable and it would be hard to work with them for a long time. (You can still find this article on the internet if you search a bit about Pixel Tales) And WHOOPS they BOUGHT Pixel Tales in that year... (Again: 2015)
Since then, they started to change the game to a new which they wanted then...
Now you may think: "What a story! It's not what happened!" Well.. Just search a bit about that... Sadly it's true.. And this is how a big company works in this world most of the times these days.
for such a long time i didn't know you could click on the banner to access your mail.. i also remember everyone racing to the mail boxes, especailly with the jarlaheim championship☹️
I'm still guilty of doing it! It's just muscle memory atp xD .. and yess!! When everyone would run through the giant arena on their way to the mailbox .. such happy memories. ♡ Thank you so much for your comment!!
im on edge with the new ui. i started in 2017, and can't call myself a veteran player, but I think they should at least give us a button to change it back to the old ui. like you said, it's 'functional', but i just cannot understand why they would put the ui on there number one thing to fix. many ppl are deciding quit because of it. i dont find it that deep, but its just so dry. i thought this game was supposed to be colorful. sso is losing its spark, and i think they have to face that. they are just adding unnecessary items that just... don't fit in the game?
this is just my opinion, no hard feelings, ppl can prefer different things, and have a good night/day y'all~
I don't think it's about the UI, more about them changing things that nobody asked for, and the UI was just the final straw for many people

I had to think back at how long it has been since 2017 .. and 6 years makes me feel sooo old!! You've definitely seen a lot change in SSO xD You explained my thoughts perfectly!! They definitely are losing a substantial amount of their audience due to their lack of effort, especially when removing features and elements of the game that players of all eras enjoyed. @@helIokitti 2017 was a rough year for many players, that's when the CEO changed and the team started changing things. I don't know why some people are so hateful towards 2017 players though
2017 was especially rough for me, since that's when my friend passed away, and I didn't even know until 2020.
And the starter horse update... 2017 feels controversial
I remember that when the new UI came out was the point where I really just stopped playing the game for the most part. I was so mad about it. I’ll log on occasionally, like maybe every other month or so? And only for a little bit. The game is just so dry now
So I am an older player as well, I was there from the get. I haven't been on since the update because I'm terrified... I hate everything about it already. I can't tell you how many pictures i took to try to preserve what once was. I appreciate all the CZcamsrs who have done videos because y'all did what I couldn't do. In my demented mind, if I don't open it and update it yet, it hasn't changed lol if I can't see it, is it even really there. I'm just super bummed.... I'm trying to find other horse games that I will enjoy like I did SS CD-ROM, SSL CD-ROM, and SSO. I even still have some barbie horse game CD-ROMs. I miss the good ol' days of horse games. 😢
Hopefully when Secrets Of Silverdale is out in a few years we'll meet in-game!
My dad read this comment to me and we both had a looong conversation about it!! I can absolutely relate to everything you say .. Tuesday night I woke myself up to get on one last time to take a thousand pictures and buy all of the old Tinker horses that were leaving!! I'm really bummed about the last update. All of those horse games you mentioned had such a unique charm to them, like they were unapologetically a horse game if that makes sense .. Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡

i agree with the comment on the ui fitting like genshin (also a genshin player here!) but not this, im also an old player but i dont plan on quitting anytime soon. sso has definitely made some, uh, interesting… choices, but i can live with it. (the ui is scary tho and i had a minor freak out when i logged on LOL)

its been months and i still look to the bottom of my screen for the character xp. the updated ui looks like its made for ipad kids and those sad beige moms
I don't really like the UI much, it feels off without the horseshoe and the map in the center of it..
I know right, I've given myself time to get used to it but I find myself relying on the keybinds rather than the actual buttons because they are a bit too difficult to navigate >_> .. Thank you for your comment! ♡

After playing with the new UI for a while I actually quite like it, my only complaint is the map is too small and in an unnatural place for the natural place your eyes go to! I wish I could make it bigger and decide where it sits 😅
Something that bugs me whenever sso change model, ui, graphic to newer stuff is that they just leave some old elements back there so game feels so off.
It’s making me so sad that they don’t care for us anymore and change everything.

Also, aahh, your game looks so beautiful!! I'm guessing you use ReShade? If yes, could you please share your preset? ^^ Maybe I wouldn't be so depressed if the game looked like this everytime I play lol

To me, it feels like a major downgrade. Back in the day, it was more than just a horse game .. it was so extremely unique. The developers really understood the project and put 100% into nearly every feature .. and now it seems as if the new team are dismantling all of that uniqueness and redecorating the game into this bland mobile game to appeal to children. Sooo confusing, my head hurts nearly every Wednesday.

Im an old player in this game ( I started in 2013 when the first English Server has been opened.) but this is NOT the game what I paid for years ago.. I really liked to play with it, i really enjoyed the time to spend on the game and the community was amazing. It felt like a joy to open up my laptop and log in to the game. But not anymore. They're just toooo money-hungry.. Sorry not sorry.

isn't this iu just temporary tho? from what I remember they'll start working on the aesthetics more once some update is fully done. I could be wrong tho I don't really understand stuff like that
I did hear somewhere that they are allegedly going to try to add some of the old SSO charm back to this new UI! I just wish we could have spent a few more weeks with the old UI while they were getting the new UI completely finished haha. Thank you for your comment!! ♡

Allegedly, I did hear somewhere that the team are planning to bring some of the Star Stable charm back to the UI .. but like why do we have to suffer for months until that change comes? ;__; Hate that they have given us an unfinished product but it isn't the first time. How do you have this gloomy old look to the game eventhough the rest is updated
If you are referring to the way my grass and sky look, it's because I have the program reshade installed with SSO! It allows you to place filters on the game, if you need help installing it there are several tutorials on CZcams and Reddit! Just search "SSO Reshade download" and you'll totally find one!! And afterwards, @novapuppyberg on Instagram has a shader that was specifically made to resemble old SSO. =) Thank you for your comment!! ♡
