This is the same studio that did Wind Breaker, so it's no wonder the animation is so beautiful. I'm really enjoying it so far!

I will summarize a little historical context.
This anime begins in the Kamakura period, around this time an era called the Northern and Southern Dynasties (1336 -> 1392) began.
Kamakura city, where the main residence is located, is where the Minamoto family in The Young King explored (also where Japan's first Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo was born), and established this place as the Shogunate institution, Later, this place became an urban area with a highly developed warrior class. In previous dynasties, only lords owned land next to the Emperor, and warriors lived in hamlets and villages. The lord's territory, but by the time of Kamakura, it can be said that the Samurai was complete, the warrior then had power, status, and was given fiefs, that is, both land and houses. However, I distinguish, the Shogunate is just a political institution established by warriors to restrain the court, the head of the bakufu is the Regent, and here, although the main family is of noble lineage, the Hojo family is not a descendant of the Emperor, the true Emperor is Go-Daigo.
Regent Hojo is so weak that the Shogunate collapse + are looked down upon by the samurais, so you see that the first half of the movie looks peaceful but is actually very problematic.
At the end of the Kamakura period, Emperor Go-Daigo intended to rebel against the bakufu to regain power. He appointed his 3-year-old son to succeed him. Using the pretext of Emperor Go-Daigo's rebellion, Ashikaga Takauji, who was a member of the Kamakura Shogunate, led his army to attack and then joined hands with Nitta Yoshisada and the Emperor, taking an opposing stance against the Kamakura Shogunate, leading to the tragic scene in episode 1, however, Ashikaga Takauji's purpose was not to support the Emperor, but in fact he was the one who wanted to rebel, establish the Muromachi Shogunate and want to overthrow the Emperor.
Best anime this season! They cooked with this whole fight. I’m so in love with this anime.

アニメでは、ストーリーに説得力を与えるために時行の年齢を８歳に設定していますが、
史実での鎌倉脱出は４歳の時です。
Storywise it seems like it could be interesting, the elusiveness of Tokiyuki was really cool to watch and I was so surprised by how gruesome things got, seeing all those chopped heads, arms being cut off, so much blood. They're not holding back.

The elusive samurai episode 1 and 2 have super clean smooth animation with dark plot twist and fighting moment . This anime deserve anime of the year 2024 titles . Fun facts : Same author of assassination classroom .

@@symkoi Oh, interesting. But then why did samuria shamploo do okay. Or maybe that had some accurate stuff mixed in or it was just a goofy samuria story so they were okay with it. I recall that stuff like samuira shamploo did good in the west but failed in japan or was it cowboy bebop???
@@nichescenes Samurai Shamploo, while based in an history period is quite fictional. This on the other hand is really not that fictional, is like 70% is real and the other 30% non real
@@symkoi cool. I assumed that stuff in shampoo where they have the narrorator describe locations the period and some of the cultural aspects was sorta true. Okay so since this series makes some mistakes too it offended some and it got a low review. I’ll keep it in mind and hope it’s successful since they seem to be passionate about the project. 😀

In reality, Tokiyuki was also the child of a concubine, just like his older brother Kunitoki. Documents from that time state that Kunitoki was the legitimate son, and it is believed that Kunitoki was the successor of the Hojo clan.

I would say the face styling is more similar to Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro - the faces actually contort extremely in this manga
the representation of the puppet shogunate is pretty funny
The successors of the Hojo clan never became Shogun.
Instead, they held the title of "Shikken," the regent of the Kamakura Shogunate.
For a long time, the Emperor was merely a puppet of the Shogun.

Even a Shikken like Tokiyuki's father was manipulated by his own servants.
The megalomaniacal Emperor Go-Daigo grew tired of this puppet show and aspired to be a true ruler.
The Emperor's ambition influenced Takauji, who then awakened the plans for the Muromachi Shogunate.
This was the trigger for a chaotic tragedy.
This anime could become the best of the season if everything goes right !

Can anyone explain why the MAL for the comic is so low. The sales are good and anime got big studio. Usually shonen jump like series are decent to good when animated. First eps of any series can be hard but it’s set up.
I think it's because the story is not that amazing. IMO, the story is average, but the characters are very good. That's why I think this manga got the anime it didn't deserve😆
@@jewelabyss Okay, thanks. Yeah hard to really impress these days. Hope it can improve with it's anime. Sometimes an anime can spark the creator's talent and the later half gets good.
The manga has a slow start, spent 30+ chapters mostly on comedy and introducing characters, the story started to get more interesting and serious after that, but many fans have already dropped it and given bad ratings. I hope the anime will fix the pacing.
Also as you can see in the first 2 episodes, the author has a strange taste for comedy, he often inserts comedy into serious scenes, so it annoyed a lot of readers
Maybe the comedy works better for Japanese people
