  • Tribute to the folk song artist Pete Seeger that also wrote "Where Have All The Flowers Gone". "My Rainbow Race" was translated to norwegian by Lillebjorn Nilsen in the 70`s "Barn Av Regnbuen" - "Children Of The Rainbow" that was sung by tens of thousands of people in Oslo against the anti-immigration views of Anders Behring Breivik, the right-wing terrorist.
    MY RAINBOW RACE
    One blue sky above us
One ocean lapping all our shore
One earth so green and round
    Who could ask for more
    And because I love you
I'll give it one more try
    To show my rainbow race
    It's too soon to die.
    1. Some folks want to be like an ostrich,
Bury their heads in the sand.
    Some hope that plastic dreams
Can unclench all those greedy hands.
[Some hope to take the easy way:
Poisons, bombs. They think we need 'em.
Don't you know you can't kill all the unbelievers?
    There's no shortcut to freedom.]
    2. Go tell, go tell all the little children.
Tell all the mothers and fathers too.
Now's our last chance to learn to share
What's been given to me and you.

We need another Pete Seeger and to think of the response of the people of Norway when we take in what happened in Christchurch NZ yesterday.

I was so fortunate to have been interviewed by Alec Wilkinson; who is Pete Seeger's biographer and wrote " The Protest Singer " ! See The New Yorker of August 17, 1987. Best, JP

Intro text is him calling Seeger, Seeger having to tune a bit on his hearing-aid to recognize the voice, and giving a well-wish.

Hier in Norwegen haben wir insgesamt die Menschen und Politiker aus rechter Kräfte in der Gesellschaft gesehen, aber was geschieht weiter unten in Europa ist nicht sehr ermutigend ...

The 80s in NYC were also VERY IMPORTANT: and gave birth to some of the most responsibly liberal progressive efforts/music/art. Unfortunately reactionaries found ways to undermine things then too. If you come to London let me know. Wouldn't mind enjoying Tea ( or whatever is your preference ) with you. 8^)
