To install, make a new save and add it to your save folder. Load the quicksave to load the bridge.
Make sure your terrain quality is on high or else the side ramps may not reach the surface.

With a lot of time, it might work using this technique, but I don’t think you could do anything cool with it. You’d still only see 2.5km of segments, and you wouldn’t be able to drive on it or anything cause it’s orbital. I don’t think you could even dock to it without running the risk of loading physics from a new root part.

Wow, that's a really nice find with the loading of crafts. Now it should be possible to make a stock space elevator. :D
Edit: Maybe it should be time to have an official advanced setting for KSP, like PRE. Often it's pretty limiting with the 2.5km. At least let's hope KSP2 get's better in this aspect.

Incredible that you pulled this off! I love how several rhino engines comprises a singe RCS unit. And that’s a brilliant technique with the terrain clipping and no physics due to root part distance

He to the mun, and he used a regular mun canyon, and by down sizing all the parts used, he made it look like it was in the “dres canyon”
I'm a member of the flat Kerbin society, but that changed when I moved to Laythe and became a member of the flat Laythe and Jool society...

Ok, that was a magnificent video as always, with a *genius* solution to a problem that I’d never encountered. The ion takeoff from the bridge was honestly my favorite part, because building a 5km bridge as a takeoff platform seems like the most Stratzenblitz thing I’ve ever seen...

I hope this will be possible in KPS2 without to use any bugs, glitches and as one big part.
even if it isn't fully possible... you know with enough time stratz will figure it out.
So you could build a ramp to space from the ksp? With a simpler, drivable design that lags less, it should be possible to make it useful even. Since only the parts within 2.5k will cause lag, it should be fine.
Complexity-wise, this seems like one of the more simpler builds you've made. Implementation-wise? Probably the coolest thus-far. God damn dude, good job!
Just goint to Dres the first time currently. And your video shows what makes KSP so unique and interesting: It is fun to experiment, to learn and to build stuff. And to fight the Kraken (that physics in KSP sometimes is).

Its not loading physics for the 3000 parts, so I think it will be better than you expect. Its nothing like the lag of the 100 kiloton rocket that I built.
Plus, not all the bridge segments will load at once. If you are at one side of the bridge, the other side will be outside of loading range and so won't be loaded until you cross it.

Can you build a racing plane, but for the Dres Canyon? Piloting in a vacuum would be interesting. No drag, but also less delta V.
Scott manley did a video about this I believe it's called "the physics of flying space fighters"
And no aerodynamics to help you change direction, it'd be interesting.
