Ordered my first Grote (335 style) and it is real nice. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the pick guard color. I removed it and now all looks great :)
From Leo: The tilted back bridge was not bent, it was made that way, That is a common design for the old school arch tops. It divides the angle to the trapeze to work with the rise in the body for better tone. Also, you state that the 2nd bridge was too high and you lowered it until it buzzed. The bridge height on big bodies is spec'd to the neck. In fine old big body archtops, they are pretty high if you are comparing them to a Stratocaster, but that is how they were designed.
Very. All my archtops have a lot of bridge height. I just had to sand and sand the one for my kit-build, after buying the one with the lowest saddle I could find, in order to get the action where I wanted it.
Same! Mine arrived on-time, undamaged and virtually completely set up. It's my first semi-hollow body and I am loving the sound (came with PAFs). I don't know how anyone is making any money on these ($217 total @ reverb. The gigbag it came with would cost you $100 at guitar center... Anyway, I loved it so much that I immediately ordered a cheap AF Grote tele. Again on-time (a day early actually), undamaged and rdy to play. Needs decent tuners and will probably upgrade the pups, pots and switch, but for $100 I was not expecting much.

I bought a Grote guitar that looks like a semihollow body telecaster thinline. One of the frets I had to do small small fret leveling under one string and then a recrown, but other then that not bad for the price. I think you all roll the dice on guitars like this, but you can get a good one. I also put in a bone string nut on mine. I'm glad you got a good this time around... I really do think they are worth the price.
Buying these cheap guitars and send it back for unlevel frets? Hate to break your heart, but even fenders and gibson's are not much better, I like the grotes everyone I've bought I had to lvl and crown, just saying
I agree. When people would buy a quality guitar from a real brick and mortar store, the shop would make any fine adjustments and compensate for any wood shifting before the customer took it home. On the internet, you get what comes down the line. When buying a whole guitar for less than a good set of pickups, it is amazing how good they play. No room for being picky.
Wow, sending it back 3 times, you can use the shipping costs to buy a second one. I think the good thing about these Grote guitars is, for their imperfection, we buyers should have no excuse not to learn how to work on our favorite instruments.
This guy is expecting this guitar to be as a $10k guitar 🎸 ! ! He's too nit pick nit pick nit pick ⚒️⛏️⚒️⛏️ I recommend he not purchase these low end guitars !!!
Any used Ibanez hollowbody is going to sound better. Only nobody is making thick 17" guitars the days. Even the Epiphone Broadway is on hiatus. So a tweaked Grote may be the best choice.
My guitar tech bought a grote 335 and had to file the fret ends and do a setup, but after that, it friggin screams!

It's a quality control issue. At this price point, there will be some good ones and some bad ones. It's a fact of life.

I love my Grote semi-hollow body. TBH, it came in better playing shape out of the box than my Gibson SG Special did.

cherryburst is a common name used
That looks a really nice guitar. What's the construction inside like. Some budget guitars dont have bracing. Does it have a sound pist
My new Jazz Grote P90 guitar came playable. No setup needed
I was interested, but it seems like they're out of stock on just about everything. Same with Firefly.
Which model # is that ? Nice looking axe .
Did yours come with the bag?
Lol. There is no too thick. You buy a guitar for the sound, there are times I want every mm of that huge acoustical cavity.
Sorry I meant post!
I got a Fender pic with my Glarry Burning Fire
That is crazy. I think I got a my little pony pick with a guitar one. The strange thing they put in tjere
If you get a guitar this cheap and take it to a "PRO" TECH it can be a great AXE ...

Any new guitar needs a setup to fit the player this why I recommend new players buy a used guitar they are easier to deal with

I set up and level, file, polish all my guitars. Your right unless it's at the 1000$ range, they all need it.
