Flawless skating by Cole... it was a brilliant move for him to throw that tre flip 50-50 at the end ensuring that P-Rod had to do a really tough trick in order to win first.
In fact, I think his flow run was underscored, I think it deserved a 9!

He does indeed say switch Barley grind...In the Toy Machine video "Welcome to Hell" (1996) Donny Barley does a switch frontside 180 to smith grind, and then a regular frontside 180 to switch smith grind down two handrails straight after each other. From then on the trick was known as the Barley grind. Check out the whole video, it's insanely good. I guarantee it will make you want to go skateboarding! (as long as you skip the slam section)

Do you know what I think ruins the spirit of skateboarding far more than big companies throwing money at it? The unbridled negativity and hostility of the exchanges on the youtube comments of near enough every single skateboarding clip/video I seem to watch. Whether you're flip front boarding for a hundred grand or getting pissed and sessioning a kerb, skateboarding is the most powerful, positive, beautiful, inclusive, extraordinary force in the universe. Sport/Not a sport? who cares?
He's extremely good at skateboarding, and extremely consistent at being extremely good at skateboarding. This seems to make people bitter

At first, when he started winning contests back to back, people supported him and said he's the best skater ever for his age (he was 16), then people got tired of him winning (he was 17), now they blame Street League saying that the contest is rigged (he's now 18)

matt benett = benett grind , donny barley =barley grind . and that's how they have been known by barley grind for over a decade , but if theres someone you saw do a 180 smith grind which i thought barley was a switch 180 smith .

Contest skating is something to get the bills paid and support yourself and family. If you could earn money on something you love doing and you're pretty good at it, like skating, I'd take that opportunity dude.

For anybody that has the ability to crush the competition like Nyjah has done, there really should be some sort of AGE out or WIN out where if you get 20 wins or 30 wins you can't participate for a certain amount of years. Or forever. Lol
It's actualy a little more complex than that. Skateboarding can also been seen as a art,because skateboarding has no rules. Sports all have rules or a specific way to do the sport.
Imagine skateboarding without big name sponsors. Take Mountain Dew, Nike, and Red Bull for instance. All three came into skating cause it was getting popular and they are known for other sports also. When companies that big come into a sport, they bring their fan base/supporters with them and they even make commercials with skating in it by thus making skating more popular. Without them, skating would be as popular as professional cricket (no offense to cricket fans)

Haha, when Rodney Mullen was skating it was worse, they actually stopped doing free style contests because he literally won all of them and there was no one who came even close to him.
