- Neil Francis Tennant (born 10 July 1954) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, music journalist and co-founder of the synthpop duo Pet Shop Boys, which he formed with Chris Lowe in 1981. He also was a journalist for Smash Hits, and was assistant editor for the magazine for a period in the mid-1980s.

I started listening to them at the age of 15, I discovered by chance in a cassette that loaned me, twi divided by zero, I immediately fell in love and since then I have never stopped listening to them, today I am 47 years old and it is pleasant together with Neil . I met Neil in 2002, a gentleman! PSB a myth! Post scriptum ... I too have a photo with Neil ;-)

When he was 30 years old, he still looked like a 20 year old. Neil has the most soulful eyes, boyish looks, and kind face. His intelligence apparent, and I love the weird and wonderful things they do with their music. I have seen them live so know how good they are performing.

I always thought he had natural curly hair, he looked between 1985-1992' its a shame he started losing his hair so soon, around when Behaviour album come out [my fave album] He is so cool though still, their look was amazing, Chris in cool casual clothes & Neil in a Suit' the Electronic answer to the Smiths

@@RelaxASMRvideos Same here, I used to use 'Shockwaves' it was a gel lol! the way he carried himself everything about him, he's one of my idols, its thanks to that I got so popular in school with all the girls, because when I was asked what I listened to [in 1991-92] no one would expect you to say "Pet Shop Boys" made me stand out lol! Behaviour is just one of the greatest albums by anyone, I like Fundamental too' but 2013's ELECTRIC for me was their best since Behaviour/Very

Neil was also an inspiration for the 10th Doctor Who, David Tennant, whose real surname is McDonald. David took Neil's last name after reading a copy of Smash Hits magazine.

@@chrisbayliss3532 it's true he took his name from Neil but saying Neil was an "inspiration" is a bit of a stretch. David Tennant says basically he needed to quickly come up with a stage name as he was applying to join the actors union and there was already an actor named David McDonald. He said he just grabbed a music magazine he had in his room, saw Pet Shop Boys and just went with it... not like he was a huge fan or anything like that.

Thanks for uploading this wonderful video. I have been a Pet Shop Boys fan since 1987. That time, I was in my last year of secondary school. I remembered they came to Clacton-on-Sea, my home town and do some filming at the beach, Clacton Pier, seafront promenade, Pier Avenue where the Gaiety Amusements. They are filming Couldn't Happen Here movie and Always on my Mind music video. They stayed in the Esplanade Hotel. I can't believe after 30 years they still produce great music. Their live concert performances are absolutely mind-blowing. I just wish one day I can get a selfie 🤳 with them 🥰

Thanks for posting this. I have been a big fan of psb since I discovered their music in 1988 via my uncle. I love their b-sides and extended remixes of their 80s songs as well. They influenced me to play/program keyboards and have a studio. I see them in my dreams from time to time! I’ll meet them here or after life.

This is a really well done video. I always thought of Neil as a sort of cerebral, bookish type (which is why I love so many of the lyrics) but this shows other dimensions to his personality including an unexpected sexy side. Women must swoon over him. Gay men too, but if his lyrics are any indication he has experienced some of their less attractive behavior when it comes to love and romance.So is he really in love with a German film star (a woman?) or is he basically flying solo? Not that it matters long as they keep putting out albums that not only make us dance but move us emotionally. To me the real brilliance of Neil Tennant is not just in what some people call "bangers" , the best of which in recent years was "Vocal", but in the little blue melancholic gems strewn throughout their albums like sapphires, songs like "I Made My Excuses and Left" or "You Choose" or "Only the Wind".
