I am no musician but, since Toscanini, I wasn't happy with most (if not all) Egmont performances. That is until I heard this. Finally I can stop looking for an Egmont I like. Bravo and Thank you!
Hace poco subía al podio de la sala del Concertgebouw, con andares difíciles y apoyado en su bastón, y por última vez, el gran Bernard Haitink y, con él, la Música con mayúsculas. Ni siquiera pudo ya dirigirse al podio desde las famosas escaleras. Un rayo de esperanza para la humanidad ver a Karina Canellakis subirlas de tres en tres peldaños, al término del concierto. Una directora como la copa de un pino, con técnica y energía, ofreciendo versiones del siglo XXI a lo largo de todo el concierto. Magnífico trabajo con la orquesta. ¡Bravísima!
Bernard will be missed. We move on. Canellakis is bringing us the vitality of a 'newish' conductor. We are fortunate. Bravo? YES!
Brilliant performances from beginning to end. What an electrifying yet utterly controlled performance of these pieces. I would love to hear and watch this combination of superb conductor and orchestra perform the Shostakovitch 6th.

Very expressive conducting, obviously involved with the music and the musicians. And her beat always clear. Impressive....

Sebastian Currier's "Aether" is utterly enchanting. Karina Canellakis's account of it is to my ears much more evocative & atmospheric than that of Andris Nelsons with the same violinist..
Beautiful performance. Shostakovich 10th is ecstatic, specially 1st mvt.

Não demorará para que vejamos muitos damos nas ruas reivindicando igualdades que as damas vem conquistando a largos passos nas mais improváveis tarefas antes atribuídas ao sexo masculino, e constatem!: a competência delas é de rebentar o queixo de quem, até com entusiasmo percebe isso!... e eles, os damos, sempre se acharam os melhores!...
Pour une jeune cheffe d'orchestre, elle n'a pas froid aux yeux, et ne se dégonfle pas pour la direction de musique contemporaine, strictement inconnue du public !

Good solid performance of “Egmont” but to call it brilliant? Hmm, maybe some people need to listen to more performances before making exaggerated claims.
We amateurs tend to get carried away. Listening to an upload from you tube on a mobile device is not conducive to critical analysis. But we can still enjoy it and share our impressions. Happy listening!
@@paulharmon557 CZcams can also be watched on a smart tv hooked up to a nice stereo system. So no apologies need to be made.
a timpanist playing beethoven with wooden sticks wehile the rest of the orchestra plays with modern instruments (steel stings,valves, etc.) sounds bad, and should be avoided, IMHO.
