Im hoping for a multistanced hero that swaps between weapons for a defense/offense style of play with transitions similar to medjay, being able to use a zone or special attack to switch stances. I wouldnt mind if they made the feats like pirate where you can chain the feats mid combo resulting in the character pulling out a spear for an unblockable spin attack or a kusarigma to pull an enemy close or slam the ground with a hammer, Jorm style. Theres a lot that can be done with this hero and im really looking forward to it.
Hoping for meme potential with the hammer (otsuki). Can you imagine getting parried and this guy pulls out a hammer from the back pocket and WAPS you upside the head?
In Japanese history there was a Samurai Monk named Benkei he served under Minamoto Yoshitsune and was said to be a master of I believe 7 weapons. He died defending the Gojo bridge and it was said he killed 300 opposing enemies before he fell. Pretty cool reference with the bridge.
The attacker minions have a reference to both Benkei (new hero) and the Orochi skin (yoshitsune in the original story) in their tattoos PD: I commented without watching the whole video XD
The new hero will actually use all their weapons at once with each attack. They will only have a chain of 2 400ms omni directional, unblockable, unparryable, attacks (with hyper armor at 0ms) and a 400ms forward dodge bash that is undodgeable and guarantees an execution. Ubi confirmed it.
Tree Saw and a Mallet shown so far so likely based of Benkei who carried 7 weapons and was a heavily armoured giant of a man. So potentially a very technical Heavy hero. Though no idea how a 7 weapon swap hero is going to work at all.
I'm not a samurai main nor was I hyped for this next hero, but after speculation and hints toward this new hero now I'm interested in seeing what they're going to have him look like and how he'll work in terms of fighting in game with multiple weapons. And hopefully the armor is very appealing like Kensei, Orochi, and Shugoki.
It’s possible the new hero will carry 6 weapons. 2 long staff type weapons & 4 smaller weapons to duel wield. It’s possible to have 4 different styles. The 2 long weapons will have unique properties & then have another two different styles with duel wielding from the other 4. I can see the Yari as the main weapon; then also I believe the mallet will be a single weapon. Leaving the Iron Rake, Saw, Mini Kanabo & I believe there is a Japanese Axe as well as the 4 duel wielding weapons.
Yoo Raven Knight did the assumption of this. He suggested that the last leader could be the legendary warrior-monk of Benkei who was a master at several weapons. Legend says that he died standing.
The only thing i Can think of is feat. Lets say you get the big stick weapon it does UB and high damage. Then the thing with 2 pointy ends does bleed and so on.
Benkei is actually an insane choice for the new hero and i love it, i didn't evene realize master katashi was also a reference to Minamoto No Yoshitsune
My guess if they do give the new hero multi weapons is that ur chain bash will swap weapons depending on what attack u threw. For example: light then bash would use weapon 1. Light finisher bash would use weapon 2. Same would apply to the heavy attacks too. If the spear looking weapon is the main weapon then that would give a totally of 5 weapons to use.
I am wondering about the weapon customization on this guy, and slightly worried for it. I imagine that he will have weapon sets for the handles and heads for all of his weapons, but I'd imagine he will be slow to get new equipment of good quality because of the sheer quantity. Or maybe he uses one or two main weapons, and only brings out the others for certain moves? Probably the spear for the main because it's the biggest, and the others for things like parry punishes or maybe even feats?
I think it's gotta be for feats, I can't see them having a character with more than two weapons at the very least from a customisation stand point. So perhaps switching between 2 or 3 weapons for regular chains or maybe weapons for specific moves one for lights, one for heavies and one for zone. Definitely think there's gonna be 4 weapons but think the fourth will be tier 3 or 4 Very curious personally to see how they'll approach this hero, I'll remain open minded. Not a big fan of many samurai heroes in general I'm just waiting for our outlanders villainess in s4. I'm going to take a wild guess, and say they're going to introduce "sustained feats", where you activate a feat (choose a weapon) and it stays until you switch to another. Hit the same feat again to deactivate.

Theory time either he’ll be able to switch in between the weapons similar to medjay/HL, Or he’ll be switching weapons during his move set and he’ll do different attacks such as normal attacks, unblockable attacks, hyper armor attacks, etc.
If it is a weapon master i image they be similar to medjey with not only having different weapons to use. Like how medjey can switch between staff to axes but also with the feats be affected by which weapon they use. Ic not then they unqine feats for each weapon say the neck weapon could be used to trap enemies for a short second or the Kama would be thrown like shaman axe or valkyrie spaer throw and maybe with either the small kabato or the spear would be like a heavy unblockable attack like hito. My guess is they are releasing little bits to build hype then doing the big reveal the day before so no hype is lost . Although it could be that they have no faith in the character so they want people to have as little time as possible to lose any hype lol. Hoping its number one

You know I noticed that when you try to look for them like on console on spectator mode in sanctuary Bridge the weapons you listed on even there I check and I can't even find them
I could see that happening if they take a more lazy approach, and when you change the feats it could remove the weapons from your back if you rather look like a (hopefully) heavy armored samurai with a spear

Just to add he hopefully will have a very tanky nature. In his stories he was told to have killed 200 men at least in every battle he fought and in his final stand cut down 300 before they decided approaching wasn't worth it and riddled him with arrows where he died standing up preventing them approaching him still out of fear he was still alive.

I doubt its one hero with 6 weapons. Medjay is already not that well liked. He's not hated or anythitng, and he's a good character, but he isnt super popular.

Heck, even if the character is locked behind a paywall for the first 6 months, I dont care. *But if the drip is somehow ass - if they drop the ball on this one - this might actually be joever for ubisoft*

What I was thinking was a nobushi hidden stance and picking a direction instead of attacking switches weapons like a weapon wheel

I hope for three weapons with different playstyles but small moveset, unfortunately it can become vg but fast, slow and counter attacking if they f-up

It might be like how medjey switches stances. But instead of that the hero pulls out different weapons
