- El Cortez Hotel and Casino. Downtown Las Vegas Visit. Constructed in 1941, In 1945 infamous mobsters Bugsy Siegel, Moe Sedway, Gus Greenbaum, and Meyer Lansky bought El Cortez and used it to train the original employees who opened the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in 1946. In the early 1950s the property received a remodel. Also during this time a pirate theme was in place. The cocktail waitress wore pirate uniforms.over the years this property saw different owners. 1980 a 15 story hotel tower was built and then owner Jackie Gaughan and his wife Bertie, turned the top floor into their private home where they lived for 30+ years. 2013 El Cortez was the first Hotel and Casino to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
That’s my favorite casino. I like classic Vegas 👍🍀🎉. I just wanna play & its over 21. Always a nice staff. I like the hash browns at Seigel’s too. Thanks for showing this. 🤩🤩
I always visit El Cortez when I'm in Las Vegas. Amazing staff, great restaurant and I usually do well on the slots. What more could you want??
Nice walk through 😊 I remember my Grandma talking about always staying there multiple times a year and she loved the place ❤ I believe it was shortly after the place opened 🤯 I can't wait to see it for the first time in October and I've been going since 1988 😆

@@deanvoss7098 Go to the non smoking room at the Plaza, enter non-smoking room by the outdoor bar. Fill that area for gaming, maybe it will get much larger on the beancounters radar and increase. Its pay rate seems a bit higher than other areas in downtown Vegas.
