Don / KM6INR gave a great presentation on his new off grid solar panel battery backup system. This system charges the batteries with solar panels and runs electrical loads in the house. In the event he loses power the battery backup system will automatic switch over and run his critical circuits in his house.

    The Inverter:
OutBack's pre-assembled and pre-wired power systems, featuring the FXR / VFXR and Radian Series inverter/chargers, take the concept of fast, easy installation to a new level of performance, value, and flexibility. Just install the mounting bracket, hang the system on a wall, make the necessary connections, and the system is fully operational.
The FLEXpower One FXR is ideal for smaller power applications - including cabins, chalets, homes, remote communication sites and backup power systems - and accommodates all essential protective devices in a cost-effective manner with the smallest possible footprint
The FLEXpower TWO FXR is ideal for applications with medium-sized power requirements such as larger homes and light commercial or backup power systems. With its compact design and easy-to-install mounting system, FLEXpower TWO can be mounted in either horizontal or vertical orientation to allow installation in more space-limited locations
The FLEXpower THREE FXR is designed for 120/208VAC 60Hz three phase applications with medium sized power requirements, such as light commercial or larger backup power systems. FLEXpower THREE systems are offered in 9kW and 10.8kW configurations
The FLEXpower FOUR FXR is ideal for 120/240VAC split-phase applications with larger sized power requirements, such as large residential, commercial, or village power systems. FLEXpower FOUR systems are offered in 12kW and 14.4kW and can be combined with other FLEXpower systems for up to a total of 36kVA
The FLEXpower Radian is available with the Radian A Series 4kW or 8kW inverter/charger, both models incorporate OutBack’s GridZero technology, a superior level of intelligence in energy management for self-generation and self-consumption programs

Thanks for this presentation. I am planning on doing something similar. I live in Texas in the country on a couple of acres. I am just beginning on Ham radio and am going to test for tech & general soon. I don’t plan on selling power to the utility. I have heard they buy power from the consumer at wholesale rates and sell back at retail rates. Trouble is I am running out of time to install for the tax credit this year. Thanks again for your video.

Awesome, thank you! Best of luck on your upcoming tests and welcome to this great hobby! Yeah, the tax credit is nice. I hope you can swing it in time.

Don has had several great careers and retired from them. He also still sells restate. So yeah, he has some money to spend it how he wants. I can only hope we all strive for that! Thanks for watching.

So what about EMP protection, all that is going to fry if you don't prepare. Look at EMP Storm.

A valid point, you can never be prepared enough. But, Don the presenter lives in the country and looses power several times a year due to weather. This was before the PG&E Power Safety Power Shutoffs, which occurred 3 times to him this past fall. Don no longer looses power with this set up. Also, I believe in a true EMP you will need your radio unplugged in a special case to avoid damage.
