Hey everyone! Welcome back! This is the continuation of my abstract painting "Lolly Pop." If you haven't seen part one, I highly suggest you watch it first. I'm experimenting with circular shapes and flowers, loving the process. Today, I'm adjusting the background and adding more flowers to improve the composition. It's all about trial and error, so join me as I explore and refine this artwork. Your feedback means a lot, so let me know your thoughts in the comments.

0:00 - Introduction: Part Two of the Experiment
Hi everyone, hi! Welcome back. This is the video you’ve been waiting for since last week. If you haven’t seen my painting from last week, I highly suggest you watch it first. Today is part two of this painting, and I’m excited to continue the experiment.
1:05 - Reflecting on the Initial Experiment
Today, like promised, I will continue this painting. The more I look at it, the more I start to like it. Initially, it was very weird, but now I see the background competing with the flowers due to the intensity of the colors.
2:02 - Using White Wash to Lighten the Background
I’ll start by using a white wash in circles on some parts of the background to make it lighter. Then, I plan to create multiple flowers on top of this.
3:33 - Adding White Wash with Titanium White
I’m using normal acrylics by Amsterdam, titanium white, which is opaque. This will make the colors less intense and help the flowers stand out better.
5:07 - Seeing the Difference with White Wash
Can you already see a difference? Now that I’ve added the white washes, the colors are popping, and the composition is working better.
6:22 - Planning and Adding More Flowers
Now I see potential for future works. I want to create an overlapping flower here, using the same colors as the other flowers to create harmony. The contrast will be much better.
7:37 - Ensuring the Composition is on Point
I need to take care of the composition, ensuring it's balanced. An odd number of flowers is more appealing, so I’ll add another small flower.

I honestly wasn't sure where you would be going with this one. It wasn't one one my favorite of yours. As you began with so much white on top of the initial flowers, I was thinking, 'Oh, I don't know if that was a good idea to cover those too.' But, I've learned never to doubt you and anxiously waited to see your vision. Let me tell you, covering up part of the original flowers became one of the best things with this painting!! It creates so much depth and uniqueness with the tones and truly is what made this painting special. The bright and vivid flowers contrasting with the muted circles and partial pedals created a painting that is cheerful and immediately pops to the eye. How quickly I became to love it. I can't wait to see where this new journey takes you. 🩵🤩

At first I thought, oh no, all those beautiful circles covered up. But, the expert that you are transformed the composition that is so soothing to the eye. Wonderful experiment. A gorgeous painting!

I certainly love this version better. The softened background and bringing the flowers forward really worked. Even in terms of patterns, earlier the flower pattern was clashing with the circles. But now there's more harmony and synchronisation. Love this one.

The washing really transformed this painting by actually clarifying the flowers...the additional flowers really bring a vibrancy of life too.
I agree with you on odd numbers bringing balance and structure to a painting, where even ones seem to lack that ability. Nature is phenomenal with odd number structures, much less so with even.

I think this is working out beautifully. Number one was a little more of a cutesy effect. It wasn't as classy as you normally have I mean your stuff always just screams class. Aww it's lovely Rinske ❤. I'm glad you left out green this time. I think your experiment worked! I'd love you try painting a large canvas black then do the same but using gold as the circles, make the circles faint again then paint the flowers with gold only, no white. I hope you'll try it, as I think it could look stylish.

Much better! I like the petal with the “hole” in it. So I can see through to the colors below.
The only thing I would have changed is, after putting the white on it, I would have wiped some of the white off just a few of the colorful flower petals. Not all. But this turned out way better!

I think both were stunning. I do love the subtle background as well. After taking your online course I am inspired to keep working to develop my own style. I did something a little different in my first one too and after I finished it I was happy but know that more work needs to be done.
