He says that it's same through the lower 48 but I live ½hour from TN, and my sister can have darker tint there that I would get ticketed for. So I suggest if your going to install any additional tint to check codes in all states and make sure you adhere to them all. Unless you don't mind the tickets, and possibly the bare adhesive as when ticketed here they tear it out at the trafficking stop, and it reduces visibility and is a absolute mess until you get it cleaned off properly.

If it was truly about safety, they would give you “fix-it tickets.” You have 15 days to fix the infraction, make the vehicle safe again, and then show them proof that it has been done. Then, once the vehicle is deemed safe for the roadway, the citations get voided end of story. But it’s not about safety. It’s about generating income... policing for profit!

I have been in this business for 25yrs, i myself have ever received only 2 tickets in my life. I have been a safety director and DOT compliance for 8yrs, total 1 OOS and 4 tickets, that is considerably low, considering I have employed 100's of drivers. I have to argue that....He was a decent guy, but I've found that if your truck isnt a pig pen, clearly well taken care of, and you dont look like a slob and your decent and up front with them, they will be to you just as well. I do a lot of over sized loads too. 160ft bridge beams and get escorts from state police and sheriff departments, theyre all mostly real decent guys too. If your truck is a pig pen, and you look like a slob it makes you an easy target. That is obviously a reflection of how you take care of yourself and your stuff, they know they arent going to have to nit pick anything. I take the show truck out every once in awhile and ive never ever been bothered for where I have certain things placed, or been threw an inspection. I've been weighed twice since I finished building it. Ive personally met 2 dot cops that were complete ass hats. One was this asshole that stopped me for doing 63 in a 55 section of highway while the 4 wheelers where blowing by me like I was backing up, chased me down, tells me why hes stopping me an asks for all paperwork tells me he'll be right back. Fucking 45 minutes later comes back and says "well Mr. Wilson you know the drill" and hands me this ticket, an that kinda rubbed me the wrong way, so I asked what the fuck that was supposed to mean, he says "well you know when I said I'd be right back, and I was gone for about 45 minutes to my car"? I said ya. and he says "well thats because I was combing over your driving record, and it aint good news" Its like fuck you. I was young and wild. My driving record was 24 pages front and back before I was even 21 and not to mention, I've only had 3 moving violations in the last 7 years and only 1 in my big truck. The other time I was in Ohio going threw a level 1 and this dot cop was on a creeper under my trailer and this other asshole comes out and tells me to "Move this truck" (with an attitude no less) so I started to explain that there was an officer on a creeper under my tandems but before I got the second word out of my mouth he told me to "Move now or go to fucking jail" lol...so I didnt release the brakes i just dropped it in gear an snapped the clutch real quick and I've never seen a creeper move so fuckin fast in my life lol. Dot cop that was on the creeper gets up an hes charging at my door so i stuck my head out and said, "before you jump down my throat, that ass hat right there told me if "i didnt move I was going to fucking jail" and pointed at him while he standed there like an idiot with his mouth open lol. Truckers aren't a profession to fuck with either if they refused to work just for a week and the country would go into a panic no food no medical supplies no basic everyday things we take for granted and eventually enough will be enough and it will happen. @@thekarmalife2693 -- I believe that the Founding Fathers intended for a small federal government whose purpose was to protect our rights from being infringed upon by the states. The question though would be whether it is better for there to be a federal agency (DOT) that is creating rules that every state must follow or for each state to have its own rules. It would seem like a regulatory nightmare if we allowed each state to create their own rules for commercial trucking. I'm sure there are plenty of state specific rules already, but I suspect it would be even worse without the DOT. Maybe some sort of commerce treaty system would have evolved between the states if they hadn't been forced to accept the DOT.
I can remember when it was not uncommon for OTR drivers to have driver's licenses from multiple states and 2 sets of logbooks. They would have one driver's license that they used whenever they got a ticket and another one that was kept clean that was used for insurance purposes. With the way that everything is computerized these days and how states share information, that sort of thing is probably not possible.

The truck already had a bed, that was the problem. A straight truck (or any form of cargo carrying power unit) pulling a trailer is limited to 65 feet overall. That is the minimum length that federal regs require the states to allow for that configuration. They may choose to allow more. Apparently MO does not.
By removing the bed, the truck is no longer capable of carrying cargo and becomes a truck-tractor, and the entire combination is considered a tractor-trailer. At that point there is no overall length limit.

It's a must-watch for people needing information on starting a Hotshot trucking company. I found this information in this video very valuable. Because the Tennessee State Troopers and the Mississippi State Troopers said exactly the opposite that this Trooper said when we got pulled over for no tag on our trailer. In Tennessee the trailer does not have to have a tag. But in Mississippi it does. The window tint according to Mississippi and Tennessee they have their set at 35% and that is for everybody. When you remove the bed from your pickup you become a 100% commercial vehicle only when you have a trailer attached. If you leave the bed on you can get different commercial settings even agriculture. Each State's laws rules and regulations are different for commercial vehicles. To be an educated driver you need to know every state you go through there laws rules and regulations. And these towns and cities that don't won't 18 wheelers going through need to have better markings on their roadways and get together with one of the GPS corporations to program truckers a GPS so they will not drive on restricted roads.
