  • I have an aerial at last, put it up yesterday, and found someone to talk to on channel 19 soon after, who said CB is dead?

    On my Sirio Signal Keeper
    I used a pvc sleave insulator,too keep mast earth bonded to ground(electrical safety) and antenna floating .Reason being when using these modern switch mode power supplys,they don't like have the DC negative bonded to earth via the coax cable outer shield connected to a Earthed bonded mast.
    Most transceivers are common DC ground chassis Inc the SO239 socket .
    I've conducted various control tests with high end test equipment to prove validity is correct.
    Isolated antenna from did not affect Sirio SK performance due to have proper ground Radials.
    Yes correct bandwidth was around 900khz wide on SK,I found once above 50ft from ground (ground affect/reflection) they work extremely well for line of sight.
    I choice double shielded coaxial feeder 10mm Moonraker formula.
    Glad your up and running on air with antenna system,loved the video thanks .

    Hi Ken.
    I have this antenna. How did you manage to get 80 channels? I was hoping to get mine just for the UK40 but cannot do it. I have the official sirio FT-2 bracket and it's on 2 x 1.5 metre poles direct in the ground.

      It is very much a compromise, you need the same SWR at the extremes, so if you want to use it on all 80 channels SWR it on Channel 1 of the EU and channel 40 of the UK, and try and get them to both read the same. It won't be really low, just do the best you can, then in use try and avoid going to the low channels on the EU band, and the really high channels on the UK band. It is very much a compromise, as you need the EU band for SSB use and the UK band for local chatting on FM. Ken

      @@kenwilliams563 Thanks for your reply. Might just use it for the UK40. Have you ever used a Sirio Bomerang?

      @@2E0TIV No I liked the look of the one I chose, but it is only for local chats

    Hi Ken, Do you remember the length you got a decent SWR at ? My manual states 1870 mm but I can't get a decent swr at that length.

    • @kenwilliams563
      @kenwilliams563  Před 2 lety

      That is the length for the EU channels, I think I ended up about 12 inches shorter, if you want the exact length let me know and I will get my ladders out and measure it. Ken.
