I've always felt like this is one of the most underrated Garth songs- if there is such a thing. Also "Learning to Live Again" and "She's Every Woman." Edit to add- I was 12 y/o in '94.
I was 34 the year this song came out. I love the passion in his voice, and I love the way the video was filmed. Very artsy.
Garth Brooks was the artist that got me into music when I was young I still have all of his CDs. This brings back so many memories.
Oklahoma singer.
Same
Me too. I can't ▶️ any cds in my vehicle so all those albums are sitting there. I recently found out garth has his music on Amazon and I was so excited!
Aside from Standing Outside The Fire...this was agead of its time in terms of editing and overlaying. Love it!!!
I got the 6 disk set when I was 12. I’m 34 still got them.
I was 13 when this song came out. It's one of my all time favorites. I'm amazed you even found the video to share this way. I appreciate it so much! They used to play this video on CMT. Back when music videos were actually shown on TV constantly vs all of the reality shows. I miss that. This song is so deep and beautiful. Garth is the greatest. Always will be.
I was 13 when this came out
One of the all time greatest country singer and human being. I'm a metal head but Garth will always be my number one, I can remember back in the 90s when I was little watching his VHS tape
"Thundering moments of tenderness rage." That is such a beautiful lyric.
Also, I'm shocked that you found this. It's actually Garth! 😮
Congratulations on being one of the few reactors to ever get a Garth Brooks video past the ban hammer.
Why is his music so difficult to find?
@@caracalcontinuum3118he is EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE of his music!
EXTREMELY so was Prince
I'm shocked that you were able to find a Garth Brooks video. The Thunder Rolls is a good one to look at as well, video is chilling. Love the reaction. Also, I was 10 when the video came out.
You do realize that video is literally just telling the story of the lyrics to that song..
Interesting factoid about that video. During the violent parts, Garth insisted that the young girl not be on set. So the child at the top of the steps watching it happen? Wasn't her. Was a mock-up, of some fashion
Yes. He has always been very stingy with his music. Lol. I haven't looked in a while but you can't find him on Spotify. Just covers.
He is stingy due to corrupt record labels. He brings up Taylor Swift's CZcams suit on the Netflix documentary and how they still owe her billions and refused to pay it. Its why Garth runs his own love shows and set his prices usually at the same amount in the entire building. He absolutely hates the fact that artists put the work in and get the lesser of the earnings. While the labels take most of it.
Here to watch as soon as it’s posted cause Garth will be blocked in 10 mins lol
Actually that video has been on youtube for a while now bud.
@@hectorcartagena2870 He meant that it'll be blocked from Billy using it.
Only thing I don’t like about Garth. Imagine if he had a CZcams vevo or something and put up the Ireland concert or the Central Park concert or the cowboys stadium concert on there. I would spend hours watching those
As soon as it’s found it will be down.
I tell you that Ireland concert was the bomb.
If you can keep finding Garth's stuff, keep reacting to it. Seriously he's been my favorite artist my entire life and his music is absolutely beautiful. This is one of my favorites.
Reading through the comments to find out what a ( red stroke is ..
The Red strokes are the emotions two young lovers feel for each other..
Absolutely same. Ever since I was a young adult, I'm an older guy now. Every so often, I'd drift away from that music, but I always go back to it.
Geez, I haven't heard this song in years I remember seeing it on I think the CMT awards. And he did the whole paint thing. All the red paint the whole video... Live. It was amazing. In the 90's no one could beat Garth. Even people that did not like country music like Garth he spanned generations...and genres
It's my favorite song
Garth Brooks is one of countries all time favorite and every one of his songs has a message in it and when you go to his concert you get your money's worth. He does awesome shows.
I love "The Red Strokes", and he sang this at Notre Dame at the end of the concert. It was so fabulous!
I was there too, it’s the only concert I’ve been too, it was awesome!
@@nathanhurley4772 it was actually on my birthday! Greatest birthday party ever!
Jamie Goins that’s awesome, I went for my birthday too!
A group of people brought letters that spelled out “THE RED STROKES” when I went to the show in Eugene OR.
Had no idea because they were behind me. Found out when Garth noticed them and played it. Not ashamed to admit I cried because it is my favorite Garth song and I’d never heard it live before.
I was 21 when this video was released... As for the video, I love this video....it was originally intended for a European ONLY release, but as it was so popular, Garth released it here too... BTW this is his most expensive video he's ever made, as he ruined 7 White Baby Grande Pianos and 15 white Suits in the making of the video...
I remember he said somewhere it took weeks to get all the paint off him lol He kept finding spots that he missed.
Wow I never knew this, so good to hear everyone views.
Truth it was the same with the dance it was released in like 12 differwnt languages its amasing
yeap, and these days? These days a production team would spend money reproducing a few scale replicas out of foam and plastic fitted with pumps they could rinse off between takes to keep cost down....... yea, that works, but THIS? THIS WAS ART!!!!! I was curious about that for YEARS so thank you!!! I was 4 at the time, and had been looking for this song/video SINCE I saw it on CMT all those years ago, Thank you for this information! And I suppose I have to thank all those crossed with this song enough to remember and think about it and keep it available for me to find and at last put to rest one of my longest standing quests!! CONTRAIA!!
@@thetalungbarrow325 You are more than welcome...I'm glad I could impart some knowledge of something that I loved learning about when I first heard this. This is my FAVORITE Video of Garth's and a lot of the reason may be the story in the making of it.
I was 29….now I’m 57 I’ve been to 10 of his concerts! He’s The best !this is my fave song
I was 15 years old in 94.
Love you're content. Keep it up and thank you for you're service.
I was 18 when this came out I loved it then and still do I have been a Garth Brooks fan since I was 16 years old hes amazing love all his music 😀
I was 6 when it was released. I knew Garth Brooks back then because that was all my mom listened to lol
I was graduating high school 1994, and had this CD...always loved this song
Garth is my all time favorite! I'm a metal head but Garth will always be #1. This was a great time in music on all sides glad I grew up then. We also need more people like Garth! Such an amazing person n Love's all! My idol
Turned 13 in 94 and I loved this video then....still do
Same here, born in '81.
Never saw the video but I've been a Garth Brooks fan from the beginning!
1981 squad here
October 1981 here.
February 1981 here
I was 9 when this video was released. I didn't really understand the song at the time, but I remember being so drawn into the video. Garth always had the best music videos. Great review!
Me too
I was 4 then! This is one of my favorite songs and I love all types of music! He is the first county singer I ever liked. As i get older i aporeciate country much more than before. 99% of his songs are AMAZING. He has such passion and conviction!!
one of the most beautiful songs that ive ever seen. and thank you for giving it the appreciation it deserves. been a garth fan all my life and i am a dj now. i take pride in having all of his songs that i purchased and can play it. love you bro. i need that video.
You should watch a live show. He sounds exactly like his music. I got to see him front row at his dive bar(also a song he sang with Blake Shelton) tour and he was amazing!
Omg how wonderful was that?! I've been to see him in concert twice and loved every minute of both of them.
Wow! You’re one of the lucky few! Many would do anything to see him in such an intimate venue as the dive bar tour.
He has a Bar now? I must be out of the loop on Garth stuff because I did not know this. It makes sense though when you consider a.h.b.a. Please tell me more.
Steph's Place it’s just a tour he’s been doing (if I’m not mistaken he actually has a show tonight) at dive bars throughout the country. Just shows here and there to coincide with the song, not a full tour. Tickets have been nearly impossible to get at all, most being you have to win. Nothing sold at all. All tiny, intimate venues.
I was 24 going on 25 years old when this song came out. I still have this song on CD.
I remember the first time seeing this video, so much passion. You definitely need a passionate love like that.
Quick bit of inside on the piano and him coming out of the paint. Actually they lowered him down Billy and then reversed it for our viewing pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it bro. He has soooooo many HITS. But I love this song and video. Thanks for the reaction.
I watched Garth behind the scenes on this video where he talked about the reverse lowering into the paint and it was actually cold paint and he started panicking. They showed the clip of that too. He said he had red paint in every nook and cranny on his body for weeks. Great video.
Thanks for sharing, its an amazing video.
We had a vhs tape with this and 3 other videos and my favorite parts was the behind the scenes that he shared
I was nine years old. I was already a big fan of Garth Brooks by then.
I was 14.
You should react to "Standing outside the Fire"...if you can find the video
Will not find the actual video with Garth on here. Garth does not allow anything on YT. Seriously don't see this video lasting long. Simply because its actually Garth and not someone posting someone else saying its Garth. This is truly Garth. Maybe because its such an unknown song outside of real Garth fans is why it has lasted as long as it has.
I turned 20 in December of 1994 - yes, I'm old!
@@alexismspgaming8260 czcams.com/video/dSh87OO1u3E/video.html not the original video but here is the song. Saw him in concert last year the man is amazing.
Damm I was 5 years old In 94
I was 14 and I said the same thing about Standing outside the fire.
Love Garth Brooks. You should see videos of his live performances. He was made for the stage... in 94 I was 10 and remember this song still!
1994 was 6 years before I was born but Garth is still my favorite artist ever even tho he was retired my entire life up until 2012 and thankfully I got to see him live in 2017.
You need to react to garth's song
"standing outside the fire"
React to we shall be free.
I heard that song yesterday for the first time in years. Probably since my early teens
I was 11 in 94 lol... grew up on Garth Brooks, and he's still one of my favorite artists.
I was BORN in ‘94, but I grew up on Garth. I love this song, and I’m amazed that you found the actual video with Garth in it.
I was 5 years old… I love this song. This will always be my favorite song.
Turned 13 in 1994. I recommend "That Summer" by Garth if you are looking for more.
One of my all time best Garth songs.
That one would be a controversial one but an interesting one.
And some where other than the night.
Garth Brooks "Standing Outside the Fire". Very touching video. Hard to find.
Yes it does!!! I love the message it gives. It really is something I think Billy could explore.
I am in the uk and my parents listened to country, so we dolly, Kenny, Tammy and all that, moved to Texas and heard this and my love for this man was so overwhelming, his lyrics were just electric feeding into body mind soul and spirit, this has always been my favourite I always go back to the 1st song I ever heard in Texas, now back in the uk and he is still my hero ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was 3 in 1994. Grew up listening to his music. Garth is my idol, awe and surprise in his concerts 🤯🤯
I was 10 in '94. I saw Garth in Baltimore a few years back. He puts on one hell of a show.
There has always been something magical about Garth, especially in the 90s
This song didn’t chart high in the US. Garth did talk about the making of this video and how the paint he came out of in the beginning was so cold that he had a hard time breathing during the taping. He was actually dipped into the paint & it was edited to make him look like he was being risen out of the floor. All of his videos are awesome. He is also one of the best concerts to see live.
I turned 8 in December of '94. I grew up with Garth. I have all the CD's he has put out. Even the new stuff.
I have his ultimate collection and anthology part 1
In 1994 I was 7 years old. I love Garth Brooks, especially this song
8 when it came out CD was called In Pieces. Grew up being a Garth fan and still am!!
28yrs and i believe it was one of his best. i was able to se him in fort worth. one of the best concerts ever and ive been to over 100.
One of my favs was 14 when this came out. Hubby loves that hat of yours btw
best heart and soul of any other singer ever. always full of emotion
100% AGREE!
Always my favorite Garth Brooks song and video. That video was so magical, especially for a country music video. BEAUTIFUL. ❤️❤️❤️
I was 30..Garth was 32..he is incredible..I was raised on country music old school country music but Garth brought me back to the new wave country music his concerts I've been to were the best this is one of my favorite Garth videos but I love them all
Love this song when it came out... the video was crazy for back in the day.. but cool!!!
Thank you for doing this!
This is my FAVORITE garth song and probably in my top 5 favorite songs of all time! I can't believe you found this video I love love love it!
I was 4 I started listening at 3years my parents have videos of me dancing to his music
I was 13 when this song came out working as grocery delivery and a newspaper delivery person.
Pay my way through school
I used to listen to this song so much just waiting for the, "But when love picks it's shade, it demands to be seen," line. Also. I was 12 when it was released, so my obsession was partly from pre-teen/early teen melodrama.
This video was awesome back in the 90's and still is now. It wasn't one of his biggest hits but they played it a lot. My twin brother Nick is a Garth Brooks fan. His wife at that time bought him all of those Garth Brooks shirts, I bought him and my self snake skin cowboy boots and thanks for playing this video brings back a lot of memories.
I was 10 years old in 1984 and absolutely mesmerized by this video. It was rather cutting edge at the time. Behind the scenes, Garth Brooks destroyed 6 grand pianos, used 35 gallons of red paint (most of which were used during that opening shot) and almost was stricken by hypothermia from sitting in that red paint during the opening shot due to it sitting out overnight and being less than 50 degrees. That opening shot is actually reversed. He’s being lowered into the paint.
When I got older, I came to appreciate the song itself and Trisha Yearwood’s absolutely beautiful backup vocals. This song is inspired by Lisa Sanderson’s poem about a paining she saw at The Louvre in France. The painting was just all brush strokes. She noticed how the red ones stuck out and wondered, if she was to paint her life, how many red strokes would there be for the passion, anger and times of most emotion.
In 1994, I was 27 and was married with 2 kids. You can’t go wrong with any Garth Brooks song. I have been a Garth fan from the beginning. If you ever get to go to one of his concerts, definitely go. He is a great entertainer.
I was 28 and married with 2 kids. Gosh seems like forever ago! My youngest was 8 when this song was released! Yikes....
Dawn Peters Seems like so long ago, but also seems like it was just yesterday. Time sure does fly.
@@teriwagoner2665 oh it sure does!
I was 19 years ago. I totally forgot this song.
My Mom had this video on VHS. I remember being little around 1996 and loving this video with him coming out of the paint.
I was 16 in 1994. Was the first year I got to see Garth in concert in Oklahoma City. That man puts on a heck of a concert. Saw him in 2018 at the Cajundome in Lafayette Louisiana and he is still an amazing singer and performer. He will always be one of country music greats.
I was in high school. That whole album is great.
I was 1 year old 😬
I am so glad you posted this! It is one of my favorite songs and you enjoying it made my day!! He is so talented ❤️
I graduated high school in 94! I wasnt a big Garth fan I absolutely loved this song , Shameless, The Dance and most of all and my all time favorite song he did was Ireland! Which you really need to listen to it is amazingly epic!
Thanks for this one. This is one of those "OMG I forgot how much I loved that song" songs for me. And I fall within the 25 to young man you know better than ask a woman her age demographic.
Hey Billy, I’d like to recommend to you all three or one of these songs: Coward of the County by Kenny Roger, The legend of John Henry by Johnny Cash, and The ballad of green berets.
If you have already reacted to one of these please let me know! Great video by the way man.
I was 3 in ‘94. I remember watching this video back then. My grandma loves Garth so I was basically raised on him.
I was 21 when this came out- have loved this song ever since it came out!!😊
Depending on when it was released I was 16 or 17. I love garth.
The song was released early 1992, the video didn't come out till mid to late 1994 because of how complicated and expensive it was at the time.
1994 - age 16. God I hated living as a white person at that time in a country-loving area as a metalhead. XD
When this was released, I was 26 years old, in the U.S. Army, and stationed in South Korea.
I had a VHS of this and other Garth songs and how they were made. They had multiple white pianos and had to clean them frequently and thoroughly.
The beginning sequence with Garth coming out of the paint was recorded with the piano and him on a lift that lowered into a tank of paint, then played in reverse. One of the takes the lift system stuck and Garth started going into hypothermia because the paint was too cold.
I haven't seen this since I was 10 years old, and I remember thinking it was amazing. Thanks for sharing it! It's still great!
Wow. Memory unlocked! I was 8 when this video came out, and it’s probably been that long since I saw it. We didn’t have cable or satellite, but my grandmother did. So she would record CMT for me and I would watch the same VHS every morning while I got ready for school. Thanks for posting this.
25. I saw Garth in Central Park 1997. I will never ever forget. Best live concert ever.
Yep, this video was before its time. You have a great presence and the perfect personality to give this video new life. Awesome!
Garth is the G.O.A.T.!!!!! And I was 19 in '94
I was 19 in '94. Love this song and your reaction to it. You're awesome 👍👍👍👍
One of my favorite songs. Such imagery!
I was 3 in 1994 and Garth Brooks is STILL one of THE BEST. And still one of my faves (:
22 years old lol ('94) .. one of my faves !! This one and "learning to live again"
Awesome job..thanks for this song & video...it has & will continue to be a favorite
I was only a year old when this came out, and this is my favorite Garth song of all time! The music video was unlike anything in country music, and despite the song only peaking at #49 on the country charts, the video was very, very memorable, with Garth playing the piano in a white room, and red paint splashed everywhere... it was quite a concept!
I live in Utah, but my mom and aunt took me to Las Vegas to see Garth when I was 14. I haven’t missed a show in Utah since. I saw him last summer with my husband and kids during his stadium tour and dive bar tour. He actually will be here this Friday and Saturday at Rice Eccles stadium! I originally wasn’t going to go but when I found out that my teenage daughters had friends who didn’t know who he was I had to remedy that. So I bought a row of seats and myself and a dozen teenagers are going to see Garth Friday night!
Garth brooks is a country God hes my country god.. STANDING OUTSIDE THE FIRE .. review that one.. Everything this man sings id pure GOLD..
I was 23 in 1994 and was discharged from active duty in the Navy in July of that year. I'm always happy to see younger people appreciating the music I remember.
💕 LOVE Garth so much; the messages through him changed my life ---- Fact! Plus, he's amazing in person and in concert ..... that helps too lol
This song was the very first country song I ever heard when I was 5 years old (in 1994 when the song came out 🤪)…love love LOVE it!
I graduated high school in 94 lol Loved this song and Garth since his first song!
1994 , I was 16...and I love this song! Always was my favorite video of his.
The fact that you appreciated this- is why I subscribed to you just now! Btw- I was 21 when this came out. Learning to ride a horse and cleaning stalls to help pay my way. And Ropin the Wind just came out. This one was a few years away...😊If you like creative videos and you're dabbling in country, try Reba! "The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia" or "Fancy". And just for listening when you're driving, walking or whatever, "One Last Ride" by "The Outlaws" will give you that ghostly country feel. That's just country- I listen to Green Day, Motley Crüe, and even Brahm's. So I was born in the country but I listen to everything!😊
I was 27 for most of 1994 since my birthday isn't until late September. Loved this song then, still love it today!
As the video progresses, Garth begins to sing as he sits alone in a white room, wearing a white tuxedo, and playing a white grand piano. Eventually the singer and the piano are doused in red paint, something that wasn’t added using special affects. In fact, 6 baby grand pianos were destroyed during the making of the video. It also required 18 white tuxedos, 12 white Stetsons, 5000 gallons of paint, and six days of filming.
The video won Garth the ACM Top Video of the Year ....its waswhatwas used to film the video and it was filmed in Nashville in a warehouse ❤
OH MY GOD Hun you HAVE to watch this video again, up loud, watch that paint and watch Garth
This video still gets me going after all these years ❤❤❤❤
38, I am old, as dirt. Saw Garth in 2010 in Nashville when he did 9 concerts and raised 10 million for the 1,000 year Flood Victims. The tickets were only $25 a piece. It's sold out in record time. He let us sing a lot of the show. We were his first concert and he had a second one later that night. On the radio I heard him say that he let us sing a lot of it because he was trying to save his voice and his fans know all the words! 🤣😂🤣 Love Mr. Yearwood!
I saw him in concert around that time. He lifted up from the bottom of the stage with the white piano and white suit. They dumped the red liquid on him.
He has a voice on him.
I saw him again about 3 years ago. Back in the day I would have jumped his bones.
Hell I still would.
Garth is so awesome!! This is one of my all time favorite videos!! It’s so awesome!!
Garth Brooks is absolutely amazing. And his live shows do not disappoint.
