RDWorks Learning Lab 08 Creating a bitmap graphics program

If you own a Chinese laser cutter this little series of videos about me learning how to use the free software provided, may solve the problem of trying to learn from a virtually unreadable manual.
I am nothing to do with RD Works, I am not an instructor and I am no expert. This series will document the essential bits of many hours of trial and error

You can easily select an individual object when the objects are set as separate layers by right clicking on the layer in the system work plat (the box on the right that shows the layers and their colors). This also means the easiest way to put the cut rectangle around it is to create the rectangle off the graphic, set it as a separate layer, then move it over the rectangle and size it to fit. You can then easily reselect any one of the objects (layers) as needed for repositioning or resizing by right clicking the layer in the work plat.

Hi Russ, can you cut from import files? is only scan in this program

Do you think if you gave it a larger power range for the scan layer that it would have turned out better?

+Advicevice As I remind many commenters, this is not a series of expert training sessions but a record of me learning.This was an early exploratory session to investigate how the bitmap tool worked, how easy and how well the results turned out for a first attempt novice. I am now several months along from the point when I made this video and have learned a lot more about bitmap graphics in the meantime. The one important thing I have learned is that the bitmap handle in RDWorks is not particularly good. If you have Photoshop or some other graphics software its better to completely prepare your photo in that. Finally just import your pre-dithered picture into RDWorks and checkout what it's going to look like with the preview tool. Your photo preparation will change according to your final material, as will your settings. There's a lot of practice and experimentation involved once you understand the basic principles, and it was those basics that this session was all about.

Hi. Not sure if you have already made a video on this, but I am having trouble getting rid of the border part of a picture. In your horse example, I would be talking about all the white part surrounding the horse. I would like to import something that is just the physical image without the rectangle border. Any way to do this?

Yes you can but not in RDWorkssimply and cleanly. You need some photo manipulation software like Photoshop If you like to add your disguised email address (kyledotlangatyahoodot com) to another comment I can send you some instructions..

Hello, at first i learn a lot of the RDWorks and the Laser, from you.
Sometimes it it not easy, because the translation, I'm from Germany.

Actually my problem are Stripes in my Engraving on Wood.
