Okay at least at the end, she knew what was up with it being rooted in self-loathing. There have got to be therapist vtubers out there somewhere that we can get her to work with.
I think I get it. Hololive is like her favorite TV show, and she doesn't want the characters to stop what they're doing and come out of the TV and start talking to her.
But thsts bad!
basically she sees another person doing well in their life and she doesn't want to interact with them and somehow mess up the good thing they've got going on for themselves either directly or indirectly. i get that sometimes. like i see someone happy and i'm like damn if i try to be their friend then somehow eventually down the road something i do or say is going to make them sad or i'll somehow keep them from obtaining their full potential by being a distraction in their life or something. so i keep to myself. or i'm wrong and she's saying there's like a disconnect between watching a vtuber you know vs one that you don't know. like if a friend of yours is like hey man check out my mixtape then for whatever reason you're less likely to listen to their music cuz you know them personally vs if you just stumbled upon a mixtape from some random person and you thought it was pretty good so you add it to your playlist.
I understood differently: she does not want an idealized person to become ordinary for her, to become part of her everyday reality - she wants the ideal to remain far away, out of reach.
Just imagine: you admire some actor or singer - and suddenly circumstances are such that you will live with this person for a year in the same room in a hostel. Will your admiration remain - when it is not someone distant, living in a sparkling world - but you see this person next to you, every day.
A bit more nuanced than that.
You are forgetting that Pippa (and everyone else) lives in their own bubble of reality that is filled with all their bias and epiphanies about the world. The disconnect happens because the reality you create surrounding the idol (Sakana in this case) clashes with some deeply rooted belief of your perceived reality (Let's say all people cannot be trusted). The two contradictory beliefs then have to find a middle ground, or one needs to annihilate the other. The whole process causes a significant burden on the psyche and can cause changes in both bubbles of reality. Sometimes, these changes are good (seeing that not all people are bad), or sometimes, they reaffirm negative outlooks on the world (Sakana is just as bad as everyone else; he cannot be trusted.)
This may be an over-analysis, but it seems like Pippa has thought a lot about this.

I was actually starting to worry that fixing pippa would turn her into a normie, but I'm glad that deep down inside shes still fucked up just like us, and knowing that is enough to keep my own schizo in check
