- The Torq Moto Podcast Show driven by Talon has another cracker for this week’s episode brought to you by Docbright.
Hosts ‘DocWobs' and ‘Jeffro’ Perrett are joined by one of the industry's biggest players, Honda HRC’s senior team adviser, Roger Harvey. Roger has played an integral part in bringing the glory days back to HRC; the trio discusses Roger’s career as a British and World Motocross championship racer and how his journey in the motocross world began.
As always with ‘Rog’, there are some brilliant stories, industry insight and plenty of laughs. As with many riders of his generation, there are golden stories of hustling to work up the ladder in British and World motocross and classic road trip stories in a time when it was harder but in many ways easier to tour the continent. In this episode, Roger talks about how he worked his way up to become a British MX 125cc champion and a front runner in the 125cc World Championship and how life was on the road getting to GP’s and continental international meetings, even on his own with no mechanic! He also looks back fondly on some of his long-standing friendships with the likes of David Thorpe, Bob Wright and Alec Wright, to name but a few. More bizarrely, there’s even a discussion on the significance of the decor of Roger’s toilet!
Don't forget to like and subscribe so you don't miss part two, which is coming soon!
Brilliant episode with Rog. Could listen to him all day. Top bloke.
Mega!!!
Give harv a few beers, sit back and listen to his tales all night, would be an awesome evening,,, 👍
Deal!
If my memory serves me well my dad Ray Barber (Lead Mechanic of Brian Leask Husky Team) built a really trick 125 Husky for him circa 75/76 that had the carb inlet in to the crank! Air leak made it over run (My brother had it for a while).....Great days...Roger talks so well and really engaging....Top Bloke....And Huskvarna is town where Husqvarna were made. Went to the museum last year, there was a Mikkola 360 my dad built the gearbox in.
Didn't he ride the 125GPs on a Husqvarna?
Very cool!
Love Roger too, like Mansel needs the tache!I remember you at hssc club in the experts with the yamoto van, Roger and dave Watson did a yamaha reveal in Crawley in a hall , 82 or 83?
@@zoomerzoomer-jn7rf Indeedy we had a Merc van supported by Yamoto which was the Yamaha side of Brian Leask Husqvarna business. Happy days back then.☺
Roger is a star. I went to one of the first MX schools he did with Tim Matthews in '85, I crashed on the final day and Roger got my squashed pipe fixed. Saw him later that year at the Cradley Heath Speedway 'Supercross' meeting when he was still on crutches for his hips.
He is a great man!! No doubt!!
Great man and a great listen
He is a legend d
Had to laugh at the comment about the Double jumps at Worcester MX school. Roger taught me to do double jumps there in '86. I didn't realise he'd only just taught himself!
Roger is such a top guy
Correct
Interesting when Rog mentioned that his mum sponsored him when he was a young rider. When I rode schoolboy scrambles in the late 70s we were a single parent family on a low income but my mum paid for my fuel, my entries and marshalled for me week after week. Without mums, where would we be, eh?
Truly mega reminder for folk!!
@@TorqMoto thanks for a great podcast.

Would love to see the old Trials and Motocross wallpaper .
We will have to get a photo!!
@@TorqMoto Definately ,also Rogers comment about golf courses was spot on , I have always said they are a waiste of a good MX track !!
Great stuff as always so nice to look back at the good old days in what was the best era of scrambles and motocross it would be nice if more people listened to your podcast there missing a good old watch
