    I’m an exchange student starting in Tilburg in August for a full year. I’ve done a lot of research and I’m not sure how to feel about going, some people seem to love the city but others have said it’s very boring and also that international students are often treated badly. What’s your thoughts on this? Also in terms of accommodation I’ve been looking at verbs since it’s reserved for exchange students. I know you said you never actually lived in verbs but do you have any other advice on it or know what people who lived there thought of it? Thanks for the video, it was really helpful and informative 🙌

    I'm super interested in studying in The Netherlands, and Tilburg specifically has caught my attention. Is it hard to get in? How selective are they? Also, what's the healthcare like? Tysm for making this video, the information I got from you is helping me a ton

    • @MiahKeleigh
      @MiahKeleigh  Před 2 lety +2

      Sorry for my late response - healthcare is relatively okay, I think if you're from a country where it's easy to get stronger medication then living in the Netherlands may be an adjustment as they generally suggest paracetemol for everything. I don't think it's hard to get in, but it can be competitive especially as they are limiting the number of international students now. Good luck with your journey!

    Awesome and insightful video!! I have found accomodation in Oud Zuid, would you recommend this as an area to live? It also says that it will be a 15 minute bike ride to the university but a 1 hour walk? How is this possible haha!!

    • @MiahKeleigh
      @MiahKeleigh  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! So happy you've found accommodation - I used to live in Oud Zuid in my first year and decided to move closer to the university. Oud Zuid is safe but it wasn't ideal for me as it wasn't that central and my neighbours were mostly families compared to younger individuals I personally wanted to surround myself with. Your bike will be your best friend, and believe me, it's quite a distance to walk! Good luck and fingers crossed for this new chapter in your life! xx

    Hi Miah
    Thanks for uploading this video. One of the better videos for international students considering Tilburg. I'm also from South Africa and will be doing a Master's there, starting in September.
    I have a few questions I really hope you can help with.
    1. Is it possible to nail down accommodation without actually being there to view apartments? If so please advise how.
    2. I'm slightly older and my wife will join me in a few months. We'd prefer accommodation in a safe quieter family orientated area. Can you recommend a few safe areas close to the Uni?.
    3. It's difficult to see on a map how long it all take to ride from the various suburbs. Korvel seems close but I don't know if it is Ava of its a safe area.
    4. Is it easy to buy a second hand bike?
    I look forward to hearing from you.
    Regards
    Jerome

    • @MiahKeleigh
      @MiahKeleigh  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Jerome, congrats on the move and on being accepted! Yes, you can find accommodation through Facebook groups but keep an eye out for scams! Never pay without seeing a contract. I'm not sure regarding a family area, but Westermarkt is safe and close to the uni, so are locations close to Cobbenhagen. Tilburg is a student city but most neighborhoods surrounding the uni are safe and family friendly. I'd also argue that Tilburg is a lot safer than other cities to be honest! I used to live close to Korvel - it's alright to be fair. Wouldn't suggest living in Oud Zuid (Broekhoven etc) in my experience the landlords weren't great and the neighborhood was definitely less maintained. Definitely look for accommodation asap through Facebook because there is a massive housing crisis and email the uni about this immediately. You need an address for your bank card so if you don't have an address when you arrive, it can be troublesome financially especially with the conversion rate of ZAR to EUR (assuming you are coming from SA and only have a SA bank card that is). Let me know how else I can help - wishing you the best!

    I'm looking forward to starting university next year at tilburg university or maastricht university. I'm a bit worried that tilburg will be boring and not well known international because I'd like to do my masters in London.

    • @MiahKeleigh
      @MiahKeleigh  Před 8 měsíci

      From my experience, Tilburg's not boring. It depends which field you'd want to go into and for what you'd want it to be known internationally for. The psychology and law options at Tilburg are best known globally, but you can still do your bachelors in Tilburg then do your masters in London. The Netherlands has really good universities, and Tilburg is one of them 🤍

    Hey Miah I am considering studying a master's degree in tilburg, I used to live in amsterdam which is so much bigger than Tilburg. I do not know how student life is there...how is the accomodation? how's life there? Is it easy to go to Amsterdam? Thank you so much

    • @MiahKeleigh
      @MiahKeleigh  Před 11 měsíci

      Only just saw this now! It is easy to go to Amsterdam, but it does take a little longer sometimes especially if NS isn't on time hahah. I enjoyed the student life, Tilburg is a student city. There's a few clubs, bars and often a lot of events happening. I'd say that bigger cities have more to do, so it's a "treat" to go to a bigger city. Definitely try to get involved in a club or organization at uni if you're also worried about making friends xx

      I can't say too much since I never lived there, but for the most part it's pretty clean and the space is decent.
