    I want to expand on my comment, because it came off as too harsh. With "Pathetic", I meant it is pathetic, sad, that the world has come to value material things that are of no actual help so much. Investing time, effort, emotional resources into something as unnecessary as a Birkin is a sign of the time, in my opinion. I love the bag, I'd love to have the bag. However, as you mentioned, there are other things that are way more important in life, This is valid for the lawsuit and for the "system" that people say to have encountered. One thing is buying what you like, because you like it, and then get a Birkin if offered. Or do the lottery thing, which can also be fun, if taken lightheartedly. Giving it all the importance it is given, though, is worrisome.
    Switching perspective can be helpful. Right now, the situation in the world is disheartening. It's not even about wealth, it is about discernment, to me. I just wanted to point out that I didn't mean the people who did the lawsuit are pathetic, but the situation we have all created in our society is, in my opinion. I didn't mean to place more negativity into the world, just bring up a point of reflection.

      @loytoco Thank you so much for all those much needed points regarding a frivolous lawsuit about a frivolous luxury item that has become a symbol of social status and not a symbol of the craftsmanship of the wonderful and gifted people behind that hard work and who love their craft. I bet those same people who could never afford a birkin bag live in the same world that we, mere mortals live in. We don't live in that bubble so blatantly oblivious to the hardship suffered by so many in today's world and the ever rising dominance of the materialism of so many people in that tiny but powerful bubble of outragious entitlement and ostentation. There's absolutely nothing wrong in being wealthy and being able to afford beautiful things of quality. What is wrong is when that wealth has become your only measure of what and who is valuable in this crazy world. Indeed as Jacqueline said, wealth is health. I just hope that bubble will suffer the same fate of those same big bubbles before: burst ostensibly.

    Hi Jackeline. Great content today. Guerlain reformulated and I hear that the scent is different now. I am glad as it was hard to get the deepest two shades. I think they are permanent, so that is great. The tin is a throwback to the older tins, back in the day. Keep up the great work.

    The one thing about the Guerlain meteorites is that it's not just the tin that is different but they have also changed the beautiful smell that the meteorites are known for. It's a downright shame that they changed it. I just got mine yesterday and am not a fan of the new scent. They also keep changing the amount. My older tins have 25g and the last one before this release was 22g and now with this release its 20g. Very sad about this!

    Hi Jackeline what a great video, Hermes Birkin, that I dont care for, but I love that ppl going after corporations. We, here in US, paying a lot of taxes, so especially foreign corporations, need to respect consumer, and follow the laws! Chanel well I guess they have a right, because they are not going after just singular consumer, who bought and later decide to sell but after businesses who kind of created of these top brands! And you guarantee, and selling very high, but Chanel don’t get benefit ..l business is business. They have to keep their name and profit. New collections, wow again, well Dior and TF I am not interested, but Chanel I have to see those bronzers/ blushers, whatever. In pictures look very cool. And I just finally found 2 warm bronzers, YSL No 4 and Hermes Atlas. So I am good, of course unless Chanel will be so beautiful and unique 😳😂 Chanel noir allure had already red mascara, not just red brush. It was 2022 LE , i love that red mascara. Its not neon red, but true darker sophisticated red.Have a blessed day🙏❤️

    • @heyitsjackeline
      @heyitsjackeline  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I hope Hermes will implement a clear system to get a bag, everything is so vague that their practice feels like a game, where there are not even guarantees; which for some can be stressful and quite disappointing to spend money on things that are not of their entire like, even if there is not explicit pressure to purchase those items, it is implied and that is a bad business practice. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and have a lovely weekend! 💖😊

    Hi Jackeline, I am stupefied by this lawsuit. Regarding Hermes, in Europe (where I live) a lot of high-end luxury brands have these practices. For instance, you can't buy the most expensive Porsche if you have never owned a Porsche before. Ferrari can even refuse to sell you a Ferrari because of who you are, yes they discriminate - they don't want the local drug kingpin to get a Ferrari you see. To get the most wanted Rolex you'll have to wait at least 2 years. If you have never owned prestige cars (Rolls/Lambos/Aston Martins, so on) and you want to get a Bugatti, they will just laugh at your face.
    Hermes just wants to make sure that the people who purchase the Birkin bag are real Hermes fans and not the random secretary who saved for 5 years to get the bag and show of, thus killing the luxury image of the brand in the process. That's how Prestige high-end luxury brands keep their reputation! They don't repeat Louis Vuitton's mistakes a brand only the "wanna be rich" people buy in Europe.

    • @heyitsjackeline
      @heyitsjackeline  Před 4 měsíci +6

      Hi!! I totally know these tactics, I have lived in Italy, my husband is Italian, and I’m Peruvian, discrimination exist regarding social economic status, family linage, etc. the difference is that the law in US is way different than other countries, that is why I started the video with “welcome to US, the land of dreams and the land of lawsuits” As a foreigner myself I can see both aspects. I’m interested to see the outcome. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and live experiences in the society you live. Have a beautiful day 😊✨💖

      Practices you speak of sound absurd, Grace Kelly e Jane Birkin would be horrified e not want anything to do with Hermes. Ok back to Jacqueline e makeup.

    • @gingrin6289
      @gingrin6289 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@LizetteBetancourt333 That's their marketing and branding strategy. It's their choice.
      The top 1% is very selective club and don't want anybody joining them. There's even a difference between the "new rich" (Musk, Bezos, Gates...) and the "old rich/money" (Perrier, Rothschild, Rockfeller...) and the old rich don't like the new rich. Hermes is an "old money" brand, so they have to be selective if they want to keep their image. I even know a person who offered to buy a company but was refused by the previous owner because even if he and his family were "old rich" and he had the best offer, they were just multi-millionaires and not billionaires... Only an old money billionaire can buy from another old money billionaire.
      Sorry to say it, but that's the reality we live in. Communists tried to change it but they destroyed whole countries in the process !

    Honestly this is an odd case, they don’t have it in policy to buy items to get “offered” a Birkin and several people have purchased Birkins on a first apt. Of course it’s a waitlist they are handmade. I do agree though that the SAs should get commission in the bags, if they were able to secure one for a client good on them they deserve the money. Can’t wait to see how this plays out and if they debate closing the California stores 😬

    Hermes it a luxury line,that's why they make a certain # of peaces.Otherwise they will turn into a wholesaler. For me no sense at to turn into a lawsuit. There are fantastic brands, luxury as well that people may consider.

  • @dearjoan
    @dearjoan Před 4 měsíci +2

    Hermes will just stop giving Birkins to American customers altogether if & when they lose the lawsuit. The Birkin is not just a bag and the scarcity is tied to the brand. The customers who spend a lot at Hermes will not be happy if someone who buys a perfume can get in front of them on the waitlist. It would ruin the brand‘s exclusivity. I understand that it does not feel fair to those who have no chance of getting their hands on a Birkin, but Hermes has to have a system to cut down the waiting list if they don’t want to mass produce the bag. And they just decided to give it to their best customers. I don’t really see the issue. The commission is another matter though!

    • @aesinam
      @aesinam Před měsícem

      Except this is not even a corporate policy. It just seems to be some arbitrary thing happening in some places whereas other places just go by the wait list or even just having the bag in store for purchase without having the customer go through this buy this and that first nonsense

    I’ve seen quota bags offered to people who in “theory” don’t fit the Hermes profile. I do understand their business model and it’s the persons choice to go with it if they are trying to get one of their coveted bags but just be a bit more clear on the policy. For example spend 20k and then you can put in your wishlist for your bag which could take up to a year to receive. You still get the revenue from the purchases but also the consumer can walk away knowing that I will at least be getting my bag in 12 months or sooner. This leaves feelings, frustrations and lawsuits out of the conversation. Just my opinion

    why to desire so badly something that the company doesn’t want to sell you. absurd! no matters their quality at the end is a good quality bag but overpriced. For all they desire it, you are cheated by them because at the end the hype of this bag is to declare “I made it”. just that.

    Hermes needs to change their tactics it’s not like everyone wants to buy or afford their bags. I hear all the time how ugly those bags, most of people just don’t like them I personally think Mini Kelly is too small for a bag and I would never spend that much money no matter how rare and most wanted they are. Just give it to anyone who wants them it will change resale prices and everyone will be happy.

    I just watched this video and what I don't understand why Hermes makes you go on a "journey" in order to buy a Birkin?? If you have the money to lay down to buy a Birkin and you aren't a huge Hermes customer, why turn away the money??? I purchased a wallet and a card case and fragrances, but I don't make a lot of purchases there. I am not going to make purchases just to aspire to a Birkin. I would never spend $20,000.00 for a purse! I am no stranger to spending money on luxury bags, but not going to go through a process to be allowed to buy a Birkin. Personally, I think the Constance bag is more my style, but the prices are way too high. I will stick with my vintage Chanel, Gucci and Prada bags. I think Hermes has beautiful products, but preloved is the only way anyone can get them. This is going to be the norm for Chanel too.

  • @raquel8780
    @raquel8780 Před 4 měsíci

    Not that I necessarily agree with the marketing tactic, I understand how scarcity/exclusivity/waitlist works in luxury. Kind of sucks for a customer who might just want the bag and has the means to buy it. That customer loyalty thing (that doesn't seem to be standardized) I think also gives more opportunity for corruption that disserves customers and SA's who work for them. Idk about judging people's spending and joys. Just because I might not see value in something doesn't mean someone else doesn't either.
    I've actually read articles of counterfeits being sold at some authorized retailers (at the brick and mortar, department store) as well a few years back. Just fyi, even if you're not buying pre-loved items, check the authenticity to ensure you are not being sold a counterfeit even at a boutique, if you are interested in purchasing these items (and check expiration dates if there is one for a cosmetic item).
    Thank you for discussing these topics. I didn't know that about Hermes! I thought it was first come first served with deposit type of thing. Understand your saturated collection of makeup; reminds me of a friend who is a film critic being inundated with invites and associated politics.

      They are suing because in order to buy a Birkin they are tying the purchase of other products, not really because they can’t but the so call journey a consumer has to go through in order to get the bag. I mean right or wrong, one of the plaintiffs got a Birkin before the lawsuit was filed. Interesting 🤔 lol every alleged

      Not because you can’t buy. You can buy, you have money they have bags but they don’t give it to you until you spend equal or more amount and build relationship with store (not brand). You know we have consumer law in US and that’s against the law. Consumer law involves all of the regulations and statutes that seek to create a more equitable balance for buyers in the marketplace and prevent sellers from using dishonest tactics. I’m sure they win the case and Hermes would need to change their tactics in US.

      yeah but at the end they don’t force you to play the game! So YOU decide to play the game and spend money in others stuff . no one is pointing a gun at you and telling you to buy

      @@valentinaburigo is there any other way to buy those bags from retailer without paying 3x price on resale market? If NO which it is, then it’s a trick to spend more money at the store. If item exists and available for sale it has to be available for any walk in customer and not selective that’s what the case about. It’s a consumer rights. Can you imagine if you can’t buy bread before you purchase pizza, soda, eggs, milk, movie ticket, blanket, car etc if every retailer start doing it?
