Are you RE-BRANDING an old channel? WHY?!
As I mentioned to you before, I have another channel made specifically for 3D art and animation. I have no plans on getting rid of this channel simply because I am all over the place on youtube, I value the subscriptions I have have with it to give me various things I look for. I want to keep the new one strictly for the 3D and maybe Canadian stuff, and not have tons of subscriptions I have to weed through to find what I am looking for. Also because I keep it regulated, I only get suggestions related to how I use that channel.
On a side note, we both mentioned the Paint Shop Pro program, I have discovered Krita, which is free and you don't need a pen tablet to use it, it also gives Photoshop a run for it's money, many Photoshop stuff works in Krita. You should check it out.

@@AlanSpicer Life is good. In the city getting radiation for 5 weeks, about half done that now and so far no major problems. My surgery resulted in finding the cancer practically non existent so all the treatments and meds are doing their job, with small side effects. I am still positive and moving forward. I hope you and your lady are doing well, saw the video about taking her to the hospital.

I am started by channel back in 2010 and restarted uploading in 2022 (Jan). I made the decision to REBRAND. Why? a channel is your baby, never kill or abandon your baby, period.

rebranded our channel from several years ago and haven't looked back. same concept - just a different logo and theme. already seeing nice growth and am happy with the decision of not starting from square 1 again! whatever you all decide to do, just do it and move on! don't look back, only forward! @@spookysmomma I'm probably going to do the same thing. The name of my channel isn't available. Someone else has been using it for 9 years but only has 5 videos. The point is-- it's taken, so I either keep the name i've been using for a year and add a few numbers behind it or another word, or change the name completely.
@@GoWithTheFloat I changed my CZcams channel name for the account I was thinking after I posted on IG asking for feedback. No one seemed to mind. I just didn't check ig to see if the name was taken, which it is. So just CZcams is changed while ig is still the old name. For me is ok they don't need to be the same.

I'm rebranding my channel right now, going from action-comedy shorts in Greek (from when I used to be a kid) to Tech/Programming/Machine Learning/Entertainment (in English) and I've noticed that CZcams is suggesting my new videos on the videos related to my old content, which does not make any sense and I believe prevents the channel from getting the exposure from the new audience I'm now looking for. I've only updated 3 new videos of the new content so far, so I'm hoping it will be resolved soon.

I wonder if that will happen with my videos over time. I see for my new niche some people with 20 followers get thousands of views and my videos get 0 even though I have 400 subs.
It feels like my videos are not shown to the people that are interested into this kind of content I am doing but to my old potential viewership and I am not sure if my account will ever adjust.

Thank you for this! It's definitely helped me decide what I want to do with my channel(s) since there's a few different categories of content I want to do. I'll keep my personal/main account for unboxings, software tutorials, and VLOG style content, and keep my separate gaming channel for well...all gaming related stuff! Also have ANOTHER channel for my podcast as well haha

I started my CZcams channel 2 years ago and posted relatively consistently. However the content was a bit all over the place so I am taken serious time to rebrand my channel, plan the flow of the videos that I want to make to give the audience a better viewing experience. @@dongbeserious786 hey. So I did unlisted a lot of my videos that I didnt want people to see that were irrelevant I.e. gear that I bought. I am noticing that videos that I wanted to do well at the time (from 2 years) ago are getting traffic through browse and even search, whether that is because I unlisted the other videos is hard to tell but at least I tried my best to prevent any confusion if a viewer gets a different video of mine suggested to them. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, I am definitely rebranding my old, half-dead channel (since 2010).😅 I used to upload my work activities regularly, then I got tired. With the coming of covid, I stayed home all the time. One day Mr CZcams sent me an email telling me they have stopped monetizing my pitiful channel because of inactivity. 😥 I have 3,132 subscribers, 4,018 views in the last 28 days, and almost 2 million views since 2010. Three days ago I found out I have $79.63 in Adsense. Now I am fired up. And your video motivate me to rebrand my channel. Thanks again, Alan. 😀 I am now your subscriber.

This has been a question i've asked myself so many times. I have 10.2K subscribers and I seem to still get views. My channel has mainly always been gaming which is the route I want to take it when I do return to content creation. This was helpful and I believe that I will continue to upload on this channel instead of starting fresh!
Omg this has been active in my brain for the past month. Every video I post of high quality, best practices, and SEO optimization loses subscribers. I changed from organic gardening to paranormal to mystery theory to space.. Started in 2013. Lol. Good point about keeping an audience by making a clear statement. Thanks Alan!

I ended up doing musical parodies about 12 years ago, then after a while my content switched to cosplay vlogs at conventions and slowly took off from there, after 7 years of that I have always asked myself if i have the ability to change and this video made me realize I had made the mistake of switching the content centered around me to other people at the cons, now I am planning to upload content that I enjoy and see who follows me along the new journey. thanks for making this video, it helped me decide to keep going on this channel.
This was very reassuring. I uploaded just under 100 videos over 3 years before a near 2 year break. Picked a new channel name, rebranded, niched down, and am now growing steadily.
I was worried about resurrecting this channel purely because I was worried about algorithms killing my viewership etc, but realised it was best to do it now and grow from here.
Did you change it to a completely different niche with little in common to the original channel?
I've been thinking about this, I mean I'm not sure where I stand. I want to grow but it's been kind of years of inexperience and I'm only recently starting to understand the importance or not only promoting but a lot of other importance stuff. I'm just quite unsure where to go with it still because view count is still very low I mean I made this channel in 2007 with a motive, but changed the motive slightly even though the motives aligned with each other and still haven't found success in what rates. So I'm still experimenting to understand more and hopefully get numbers up eventually.
What I loved about CZcams was the freedom to do whatever I wanted to do. Now I feel like having different ideas can kill the channel, and when I create a video that works I ask myself if I should keep making more following the same subject.
If you slowly drip feed new ideas it can work... look at PewDiePie and Shane Dawson for example, they have changed alot over the years.

Does the CZcams algorithm react negatively if you rename your channel multiple times? Do subscribers still get notifications if you change your channel's name, or do they need to hit the bell icon again?
Thank you. I'm trying to breath life into a channel that has never found a way to be consistent and therefore never got far building an audience, I've heard building a backlog of video before publishing helps with the algorithm, but you seem to be saying doing the same thing with an old account should be just as good
I'm pivoting /rebooting my channel and also kind of killing off things I used to do and moving them to a new channel to help focus my channel better but also give myself an outlet should I want to create a piece of content that doesn't fit under my current channel and also see what it's like to start a channel from scratch.
I decided to walk away from it while I was doing comic cons and other in person art events to get a clear head from what I've been doing the last 13 years. And honestly it's amazing what walking away can do to give you perspective towards what's working and what's not.
Granted it tough not posting, but the clarity I've gotten is what I appreciate right now. In the meantime, I've been recording in bulk with the intention of freeing up my time in September to focus on doing research for my new drawing series in October for Inktober about latin cryptids instead of flying by the seam of my pants like I normally do.
I guess I'm trying to go by the work smarter, not harder. This week I started creating intros and outros for my videos in preparation of releasing videos come September with the hope that the structure will help me be able to create the bigger projects I want to.

I recently rebranded my old, inactive channel and it's difficult to tell if it was helpful or not (versus starting a new channel). My channel was 10 years old (active 2006-2010) and had about 2.5k subs at the peak. Back then I was making videos of me playing video game music on piano. Now 10 years later, I wanted to make video game let's plays with my wife and some other gaming commentary content. I originally was going to start a new channel but there seemed to be unanimous advice on the interest to just rebrand. So that's what I did. New images, new channel name and description, and uploaded the first new video.
I've been posting about 3x videos a week for one month now and it kind of feels like starting a new channel, though I'm not really sure how to judge results since people still view my old videos. I also don't know what is typical for brand new channels in 2020. The new content seems to only be getting 10-20 views on average with little to no engagement. I do wonder if it would have been better to just start new to more easily see organic growth and know that my audience was interested in the new content, versus the old.
That being said, some have told me that I just need to give things time for the channel to shake itself out and adjust to the new content. Either way, I'm excited to be making new videos again and I'll hope for the best!
Since both channel brands were for gaming, there's no reason to start a new channel. If you are getting 10-20 views, I would research what games are popular and make sure to get honest feedback on your content.

Good advice as usual... as you know, some months back I decided to merge multiple channels and concentrate just on my primary one, so in my case because the others were somewhat established at least; I ended up removing any duplicate videos of course (which was a case of my own Channel fighting against my own Channel for views!) & only left the ones that have absolutely no place on my main channel, and on my alternative channels I put up an individualised video explaining the reasons and inviting people to my main channel - I think that's a better option than deleting it (in my case)👍
This video was meant for you 2-3 months back but only just got around to making it. It was on my "canal walks" to do list that month but I didnt get to it lol

Quick question...I started my channel in 2017 and uploaded pretty Frequently, eventually gaining 100-200 views each, some even in the thousands...then I took an almost 1 year break starting new year 2019 till October and my views plummeted, I’ve been uploading consistently since October 2019 every week but views won’t go up! So should start a new channel ? Since I’ve heard new channels get more views or just stick with this one ?? Any help would be great !
I don't think starting a new channel would help. You need to make content people want to watch. Look at your analytics and study what videos did well and which ones didn't. Make sure to take the YT creators courses and learn to use metatags, keywords, etc. Make sure to have your social media pointed to your channel and do marketing.

Perfect video. My current CZcams channel was created one year after CZcams was invented and has over a million views over the years. I now want to create a new channel that would have more specific content to my niche but with that I would be starting from the bottom. I probably would be limited in making long form videos until I reached say 1,000 followers. After watching this video, it makes more sense for me to keep my current channel and just put the new specific content on there. If need be I could delete or make certain old videos private or unlisted. A part of me does want to start a new channel but the building process could take a while to years if I’m starting from scratch.

I do art stuff and I had stopped for 3 years because life happened but I've learned and experimented so much through those years I was wanting to upload again. I had a small amount of views still coming in on my channel from when i did youtube 8 years ago under a gaming channel. Came back in Jan to try and do somthing diff. I ended up unlisting all my old videos (not deleting) and went the crypto way of life. The first few months it was hard and it still is kinda hard just now starting to recall the best way to do thumbnails and trying to get viewers. But great video keep up the good work =)

I've had my youtube channel more than 10 years ago. I start to be active again this year. from less than 20 subscribers for the past 10 years I manage to get to 80 subs to date. I always thought if using the old channel makes it hard to gain subscribers or viewers as I can see that those with new channel grew fast. But after seeing this video, I guess I just stick to my old channel and rebranding it. Thanks for the idea.

I don't want to start a new channel for the travel vlogs but I don't want to lose my art followers' interest either because the 2 topics are not really related so...
I've trying to think of a way to merge both with maybe a tutorial integrated into my travel vlog videos (think 'we're visiting A and now B, and now I'm taking a break to do some art (tutorial), then let's go visit C'' kind of thing)... Is that stupid? What do you think? I hope you have a better suggestion ;-)!!!

So I started my channel in 2006... Published a few videos and didn't look at it for years... when I did look years later I realized that those few vids had a few hundred thousand views... So around 2014 I started publishing more regularly, but only once every couple of weeks... Now, I am all in and really want to build the channel, but have been struggling with CZcams simply ignoring my vids and not suggesting them to new audiences. My subs watch... I get about 1k views... then it tends to die off. So I've been wondering since my channel is so old, has the algorithm at some point flagged my channel as an old channel that was non-active ...and now, no matter what I do or how much I publish, it will not push my content? Do you think there is any merit to that? The channel is currently at 10.8K subs. I am terrified to erase all the work I have put into the channel and start all over.
I decided to switch gears on my art channel and focus on How-to. Thanks to this video, I think I've made the right move to keep it and continue to build it. It has definitely grown since my I decided to focus on specifics and put in much more effort into making it successful. Now I have to wait and see. Thanks for your awesome insight Alan.

Before watching this video I was thinking about starting a new channel because I uploaded about 180 videos on this one and I only got 620 subscribers. That's because my videos have always been all over the place. But lately I came up with a new idea that has nothing to do with anything I've ever uploaded on this channel, and so I wanted to give it a fresh start with a new channel. Your video though made me change my mind and understand that it's better to restart from 620 than from 0. Thank you for the great insight :)

I have a gaming channel and I want to stay a gaming channel. But I am about to change the language of my content from German to English.
Which is a pretty drastic change. I think I will stay on my old channel, even though it feels like starting from scratch, as I barely get any views on my English content.
But I guess I just have to stay consistent and new subscribers will come eventually :)

So I have this channel that I started in 2011 I posted two gaming videos on it years ago and have deleted them clean. I plan on making finance videos now. Do you think this will affect my channel poorly in anyway? Or should I start it fresh.

Been debating on this and to be honest I Still don't know! I have a lot of ppl in to Minecraft, but i am trying to change to other games. I know i need to work on scheduling and sticking to it. The hard thing is I use to get 100 view in a week but now i get barely 20. I am quite discouraged that makes it harder. Thanks for the video and good luck to everyone out there!
I started my original channel in 2010 (the account was made in 2007). It was a variety channel where I posted my vlogs and my acting videos. But then those started to branch out into other genres and eventually it got to be too much content. i.e. vlogs would branch into lifestyle, beauty, etc. that had nothing to do with acting. Then I added cosplay and gaming to it. Over time, I think, it really confused my viewers so they began to watch less. I rebranded that channel so many times over the years. Just last year, I decided to leave that channel for good and split my content into other channels. Now I've got vlogs, gaming (this one), and an acting channel. I likely will drop the vlogging channel and replace it with Instagram. The biggest reason I moved and rebranded is that the name of the original channel doesn't reflect me and I can't change the url which is the channel's name. I created the name back when branding wasn't a thing yet and people just created random usernames for themselves. Rebranding/moving was the best thing I did but I do miss my old channel. I know it's for the best though.

I’m going to try re-branding. I have had my channel since 2008, I don’t have many subscribers or views, but I agree, there’s got to be some benefit to having an older account!

I pivoted into a food related channel but I have some old car repair videos that I don't want to delete or make private because the get consistent views and I know that those videos help people everyday.

My CZcams Channel is from 2009, but I’m not a frequent poster. I want to start posting videos again, sometimes I feel like I should make a new one but then I remember that I have 500 subscribers (which isn’t a lot but it’s something) and that my channel is practically a senior and that could give me some credibility (or not lol). After watching this video I’m definitely going to Rebrand my channel and make it grow. Thank you for you tip ✌️

Ive been thinking about this for a while. I'm on the fence because with my channel, People know me most for my hair content and I no longer want to be known for that but I also don't want to start a new channel from scratch because it took me close to 10 years to accrue that audience (even tho most don't watch my content anymore).
