- In part one of my chat with Jay Jay we dig deep into how the band made it, life growning up, drugs and why he stuck with it after ALL those rejections.

Jay Jay speaks about the industry, pure facts. Much respect for Jay 🙏🏽🔥
That’s was a lot of energy in that conversation! You’re a pro Kylie!! Thanks
thank you terry!
Awesome Interview! Sooo True
Totally awesome
Enjoyed that, truth telling about the glamorous bizznizz. Jay can tell you even stranger truths about the world, the earth, if you ask him: )
he is a very interesting man who is full of life and has such an interesting mind... i love it!
Mr. French is absolutely right when it comes to the music business. I don't need to say more.
he is so is!
God. I'm sure he's grateful that you could validate that for him.
Adam And The Leather Hawks are "Freddie Mercury" good. Ah, John. Do you wanna walk that back a couple of miles?
Brings back memories. Detroit in Port Chester. L'Amour on Long Island. Soap Factory in Jersey. Even the Rising Sun in Yonkers. To name a few.
Interesting discussion about JJ's history and principals..
it gets better in part 2...
@@KylieOlsson Don't get me wrong Kylie.. This was very good episode.. It would have been so cool to live in late 60's New York...:)
Aloha, casting this to my big screen TV 📺
2:30 into video I agree.... some people will think Jay is coming off hard-core & he is but what he is saying is true, plenty of bullshit involved in the fame game, I call it " the politics of dancing "; it's pretty much the same in radio, putting up with bullshit from bullshit people with power to keep your job. I personally feel radio is more cutthroat than the music side but that's my opinion.
The parallel to both is keeping your identity which is hard. The biz wants you to conform to their way & you would think it's based on talent, your talent as a musician or DJ but not too much. I told myself when I became a DJ on the radio that however far I go will be based on my talent & how good I became at my craft. I realized I was good when I trained another DJ & they became popular in their first year on the job.
People move in circles & I was in the inner circle for a while & was popular in Hawaii but I wasn't in the inner-inner circle. I have seen people in the radio biz make it better with less talent than people who had more talent. Sometimes it's as simple as someone with power liking you. I'm sure the music side is the same.
After watching this interview I wouldn't mind meeting/talking with Jay as we seem to be similar. I dropped out of school too at age 17 & got my GED so I could join the USAF & get the f*ck out of Miami & travel.

😉🤙
Aloha!!!!! hope you like!!! x
FYI: for the record payola exists, DJ's get paid and receive money to push songs and music companies market music way more than you would think, its all about the money 🤑 💰💰💰
Realistic to the bone 👌
Could have watched that all night. Great guy. Loved Twisted. Have you read Dee Snider's book Kylie? Shut Up And Give Me The Mic
ah pleasd you enjoy... I actually love part 2 so think you'll enjoy that too as he is a great talker... I havent read his book but i can imagine its very insightful
I saw Twisted in the clubs for years before "We're Not Gonna Take It." JJ sounds like he regrets his life. That's disappointing to hear.
I know it. He's singing my song. I own my own agency and made millions. I hate everything about it. Especially the customers.
As someone with bad health, I can attest, getting a good doctor right when you want is invaluable. Seriously. I'd buy that for a dollar.
sorry to hear about your health! x
Not to mention having to tolerate Dee Snyder every day. I mean, can we even imagine THAT hell?
hahahah... i'm saying nothing! 🙄
that's why people get hooked on goofballs.
I think Twisted was screwed over more than most bands.
