    I use natural fragrances. Orange peels and cinnamon apples vanilla extract cloves . My house smells like Apple pie everyday lol . Put in my crock pot with water and canola oil . Let it brew all day on warm !

    Ever since my ferrets have been on raw food, they smell SO much better! Like night and day. I used to think they were stinky and now they are not only far less stinky but I love how they smell. :)

    I love how my ferret smells. Objectively she smells stinky. But it's so addicting to me. Like how gasoline or glue kinda smells addicting.

      Ferret smell can be very shocking to someone who has never smelled them. The first week I got Rhaego she honestly smelled so strong to me, I thought she was a male because I'd heard that female ferrets "barely smell". I could smell her from a foot away. I can only smell her up close now. It could be her diet change, she used to be on kibble and fed fruit and veggies. Now she's on a combo of wet cat food and raw. She's also way softer so maybe it is her diet after all?

      Also having a ferret is nowhere as easy as I thought it would be even with several months of prep. Maybe I got a "difficult" ferret. But Rhaego is free roam. She has a dog crate in case of emergency but that's it. She is great about using her spots consistently. But she needs a potty pad layered in every corner of the room. And several layers because I have carpet. And she then drags her butt on the ground after! I'm not around enough to get her to consistently use only one spot of the room. I was lucky enough to move into my own house AFTER I got her. If I hadn't, I would have had to replace most of my furniture, because she crawls underneath cabinets and poops in them. Me and apparently tons of others on ferret forums have also chosen/been forced to get rid of our bed frames. She crawled up into the bottom, created a tunnel, and destroyed it to sleep in. It's metal so can't be covered. She stashes her food under dressers and other things too. So thankfully I am able to pick out my own furniture to eliminate any gaps underneath them. But unless you happen to get an "easy" ferret you could very well end up having to make MASSIVE lifestyle changes. I'm glad I'm the type of person who's happy to accommodate them. But it's a lot like having a baby. Sometimes it's 2am and you're crying because for the fourth day that week you're scraping poop off the floor because she got under your bedside table and decided it would be a comfy safe potty spot lol!

    I have a Roomba that vacuums daily, I steam clean all my (wooden) floors weekly, wash all their bedding weekly and have a humidifier that also purifies running at all times. The pee pads (which are only in the bathroom because my boys are all extremely well potty trained and never miss the pee pads) are replaced twice a day. Naturally all food bowls are cleaned after every meal and luckily my boys aren’t really stashing anything. They have pet drinking fountains in the kitchen, living room and bathroom that run with a carbon filter continuously filtering the water and they hold a lot of water so they are emptied and refreshed every other day and washed in the dishwasher once a week. All of this results in a minimal ferret smell in my house, despite my boys being 100% free roaming ferrets and having acces to every room 😊

    Love this. I also have an air purifier in the main room. It cuts any smell down. I wash the cage, bedding and toys once a week. I also do the floors the same. I’m getting ready to deep clean each room. It really helps them too. The ferrets get any dust on their nose and they sneeze for hours lol. I have two elder ferrets and two under a year old. I have a big question. My elders are free roam during the day and confined to the living room at night. The babies have had the same privilege except they are caged at night. Although my house is ferret proofed these babies are jumpers and I can’t trust them to chew on the overnight. They don’t do it during the day at all. I had one issue with a blanket and it all passed avoiding surgery. Would it be bad to wait for them to hit the 1 year marker before I let them have free reign at night? It has been two weeks of mingling with the elders and I’ve had zero issues. They sleep together and groom each other. No fights but they are supervised all day. I get stuff done when they nap lol.

    Long time no talk Brie! How are you doing??? At a local exotic pet store near me in Bergen County, NJ, they sell candles that are "animal safe" for smells (not the fire, obviously!). I can send you a link to the specific candle they sell, but how do you feel about candles that claim are "animal safe"???
    (My babies Deet & Hupp say hello!!! 😉)

      I am familiar with some ! The ones I’ve seen I still wasn’t super fond of the ingredients. I still wouldn’t use them personally! But that’s just me :)

    Just want to add something that is wonderful to use, again it's just a short term thing to help freshen but it's an amazing product. It's called "Angry Orange" and Amazon sells it, you can use it as an air freshener spray, to clean items, on furniture or carpets etc etc. It's also wonderful for puppy training to get pee smells up from accidents to detour the animal from thinking that spot is the spot to go. It is fairly strong though so just use a small amount :)

      I feed my ferrets about 8-10oz per meal twice a day. Give or take. So about 20oz daily for my 5 ferrets. Totals are dependent on each and every ferret and will change with the seasons :) hope this helps.

      I have a couple questions if you dont mind.
      1. I've made a couple candles from lilac trees I was wondering if it was ok for me to light those
      2.what fragrances are bad or harmful for ferrets
      3. What do I do if they pee on none protected wood (none protected meaning none vanished)
      Thank you so much for this video it helped me a lot and I really hope you consider answering my questions.❀❀

    • @Pazuandfriends
      @Pazuandfriends  Pƙed 2 lety

      @@dybvigschool5735 I wouldn’t burn any kind of candle, it’s not just the fragrance but the actual burning and smoke can be harmful. If they pee on unprotected wood it would go bad very quickly! Probably would mold and get gross.
