  • A vastly improved version of the Tejas called the Mark 1A has just taken its first flight. The first flight took place today from the HAL airport in Bengaluru. It's a very, very big day for India's homegrown fighter jet, the Tejas. The entire flight lasted about 18 minutes and now many more flights will take place before 83 of these aircraft, in phases over the next few years, will be delivered to the Indian Air Force. There are orders being processed for 97 more for a total of 180 of these aircraft that will finally be inducted into the Indian Air Force.
So, can HAL produce it fast enough? And can the Tejas cure the Indian Air Force's fleet woes? Watch as experts share their views on this episode of Battle Cry.

Cost will drop as demand increases - China's jf fighters have proven to be junk , the fuselage cracks quickly & many have been grounded , China giving it free & countries still don't want it , Tejas is world class it's intent is to be as good as a euro fighter & f-16 workhorse. Economics wise - govt placing huge orders means Hal stock value goes up , this follows the u.s military blueprint & will eventually reach a point of fully private contractors like Tata & others getting the govt contracts instead of non Indians cashing in. This helps to protect the Indian economy from overseas volatility. All said & done it's a great move & congrats to all involved.

Ofcourse everything is good , even before its tested in real life. Its the best air craft in the whole world. Keep drinking the kool aid and stay delusional. Tejas is a light aircraft , its no where near the F-16, which explains why F-16 is a contender for MRFA (Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft) which is the successor program to MMRCA But tejas is not part of the shortlisted candidates. And Eurofighter is more in the category of migs, sukhois, rafale & f-15. Not light air craft like tejas, which explains no one actually bought it despite all the propaganda by Indian authorities and news media. Every now and then HAL would spread fake news that contract is close to be signed with some country in south america or asia or africa but it never happened. The only successful Indian export is brahmos and that too is made with russian collaboration that is russian did most of the design work and Indians provided most of the money.

The navy & amca versions & demand standards modifications etc point to a demand to rapidly modernize Indian air power-seems like the target is 5 years we probably r Gona see a 3rd world war. China will be the cause in the conventional sense but reality is battlefields have changed to cyber space & Islamic radicals more than a idiotic communist state.
