Energy is great, but a good friend of mine calls DJs who mix in at the first chorus "DJ Skippy". It can be really annoying if you like songs and they end too fast.
I love your videos Carlo! One question. How bad is the latency when DJing over Bluetooth with your Bose speaker? I’ve tried to DJ over Bluetooth in the past and the latency makes it very hard.
Don't forget, they've come a long way after 1000s hours of anonymous practising. So proud they never stopped pursuing they're Dreams. Cheers from a proud Belgian beginner dj.
First of all, just because a song charts better than another, does not mean it's actually a better song. It is more POPULAR and that's exactly what this is about. It's not that hard to play with a mixer and press tons of buttons since the gear does the majority of the work.Just because something is a fact that some do not like does not mean it's 'hating'. Basically the DJs job is to entertain or make dancers lose their minds.I personally do not DJ with anyone because I am fast and deft enough to do the whole job by myself. I do not do more dancing than half the crowd because I generally am busy making the music talk, adding sounds, adding efx,and I do NOT mix most of my records in the same places, same style.I also choose more music that speaks for itself and does not need a lot of efx/processing,and that i can play the turntable itself..
That's fair Michael! Every DJ has their own style, selection, and sway to the mix, so just keep doing what you're doing best and give your audience a good time!
@@djcarlo The better DJs do not get stuck in a style, they are flexible, versatile, and command respect with their music delivery. I was saying I am the DJ not the dancing crowd, and that's my JOB behind the decks.

@@djcarlo I want to hear you live some day. Even though I follow and listen in it's nothing compared to actually being there and experiencing the ambience in the room.
TBH not to sound a douchebag the stuff they do is pretty basic stuff that you can learn in like 1 year of regular DJ gigs since if u are a good learner you'll see that high energy mixing and crowd reading is the way to go. So props to them for realising their dream and do what they love to do since they do it very good ;)
Would you be able to make a dubstep/riddim mix with tips on how to improvise transitions within the genres? There aren’t many videos covering that topic and the ones that there are are dated
Drop mixing, doubles, drop switching, and slicing are all good things to look into that Carlo has covered in the context of house and hip hop but the technique works the same.
@@djcarlo yeah of course! As zero has commented, drop mixing, doubles and slicing (idk if that’s the same thing as chopping) are techniques that are very prominent within the genre, I’m also interested in knowing where to place hot cues, how to use low/high pass filtering to help ease into another track, and how to manage energy throughout sets (going from high energy drops to slower, calmer breakdowns) Sorry if these are quite vague, I’m a producer who’s trying to improve my beginner DJ skills within the realm of bass music. DJs like Stoned level, Excision, Kompany, Calcium, and Soltan are my inspirations so maybe watching clips of their sets might give you an idea of what I’m thinking of.
siempre me aparecían tus videos como recomendaciones pero no los abría por que estaba en ingles, ahora que los veo con subtítulos me he dado cuenta que me perdía de mucho, gracias por los consejos
Yo dj carlo, i want to ask if you could say how Sound of legend mix ? Btw your video are realy cool and you learn me how to djing so thank you 👍 Ps im french so sorry for my grammar😂
Thanks Carlo! Another really cool tips video! I get to watch a lot of headlining electronic acts mix as I am a stage manager and DJ backline tech. I have a question, when DJs transition like this without using EQs and instead just the volumes, doesn't it run the signal into the reds whilst the two tracks play?
It potentially could! The individual tracks will remain below the red, but with the overlapping lows and highs, there's a very big chance of that happening.
@@djcarlo I took another look at the mixing part of this video, I think Dimitri might be adjusting the trim on the tracks before and after adjusting volumes which might be how they counter it sounding like mush.
Hmmm, I wouldn't recommend changing the key of the song because that might distort how the track sounds. But to make the song go faster or slower, make use of the pitch faders near the middle of the controller.
Never heard of these guys before but then again isn't my genre but from my perspective their style clearly works for them yet comes across as lazy, like if good at mixing why not mix back 2 back but this way they can hide that one can't beat match and the other can't handle the pressure of doing the rest, I may well be wrong but that's how it comes across when I see DJ's working together like this
wouldn't djing with bluetooth have latancy issues? as for 2 heads vs one, more creative input. 2 people who work well together are always better than either solo.
The 2 DJs thing works well IF you guys are in sync, and add something new each if you ask me. I've seen a few where nothing really happens out of the ordinary.
For sure. Would have to be a soulmate type thing to really work. Most DJ/producers aren’t even performing on the fly sets though. They practice the exact same set for weeks or months then your doing the exact same thing over and over nightly. Where many professional DJ’s can read a crowd and change it up. Some of the producer/DJ’s might change 1 track per town to make it feel like it’s not just a routine.

I love your videos Carlo! One question. How bad is the latency when DJing over Bluetooth with your Bose speaker? I’ve tried to DJ over Bluetooth in the past and the latency makes it very hard.
It's alright for me, since I mainly use it for extremely simple mixing. If really want zero latency sound, it's best to go for a wired speaker!
Awesome video Carlo, can you please do a breakdown on BLASTERJAXX!!👍🔥
Might check out Blasterjaxx for a future breakdown Selene!
Thanks carlo!!
Start tapping multiple times backward with this video at 0:00 and you will make a remix
Lols, someone should sample that hahaha
Nice video! These guys are my idols
They've got some banger productions out there!
Don't forget, they've come a long way after 1000s hours of anonymous practising. So proud they never stopped pursuing they're Dreams. Cheers from a proud Belgian beginner dj.
that's awesome man! yeah every successful dj has put in the work. nobody just sees it! thanks for appreciating their effort!
Indeed, they found what worked for them! Their production skills are amazing too
quality video as always ! ty
Always try to do my best Don!
Thank you for another great video man! 👌🏾 Every one of them helps out so much.
glad to hear your kind words! thank you for them! more awesome mixes to come next!
Thanks Kris! Glad you learned something new from the video!
The Camelot wheel is literally the circle of fifths with numbers instead of actual note names 🤣
Pretty much! Essentially the same thing, but for those not as well versed in musical theory
Fact of the day. To some djs flanger is a nightmare. 😂😂.
Lols, like me!
Currently still saving up to buy my first controller and after binge watching all these vids I don't think ill be having a hard time DJing when I finally have one. Haha appreciate your content man :)
Thanks Zach! You never know man, you might know enough to make your own set the moment you get your first controller!
Respect big brother.
Thanks bud! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Love your videos! Didn’t plan on getting on board the dj world until I watch your videos (thanks CZcams algorithm!) now I bought a flx6 and it’s supeeeerb! Can you do more videos about timing transitions and when/how to use them like you did in this video? Thank you
My main tutorial video touches on that topic the most! It should be under "how to DJ for beginners" and I've got loads more on the channel just like that!
Does anyone love their own cities Dj's I used to love going around the US and my favorites were DJ Honey TN DJ Vicious V CA DJ IL has this one DJ thats been mixing the same tracks for the last 34yrs That guy is a FRIKN Legend.. Anyhow does anyone love their own local DJ?
I do! The person you mentioned certainly sounds like a cool guy! Hope to hear him play one day!
@@djcarlo I want to hear you live some day. Even though I follow and listen in it's nothing compared to actually being there and experiencing the ambience in the room.
Is this advertisement or a how-to video? :p nah, all good! nice to see break downs of other dj-skills - thx!
Bwahahaha, half and half. But I really do love doing break downs. Glad you liked it Florian!
Learn a lot from you kabayan keep sharing your knowledge 🥰
Of course! I'll never stop doing that Jeffrey!
TBH not to sound a douchebag the stuff they do is pretty basic stuff that you can learn in like 1 year of regular DJ gigs since if u are a good learner you'll see that high energy mixing and crowd reading is the way to go. So props to them for realising their dream and do what they love to do since they do it very good ;)
In all fairness, they put on a pretty hyped up show! And they're good at making music!
Love these videos. If you want my advice, play great records.in key and you can’t go wrong.
Thanks McAwesome! And gotta agree there; melodic mixing is great!
This is what I need....you are awesome ❤️❤️
You're awesome too Chandan! Glad you enjoyed the breakdown!
The effect at 10 minutes mark that he used was Jet, NOT Flanger, just a heads up!
Oops, maybe that was my bad! Sounded very similar. Thanks Puppet Master!
Excellent breakdown kapatid!
Thank you Carlo Atendido
You're welcome buddy! Hope you learned a thing or two!
For sure bud! Glad you enjoyed the breakdown!
Hey Carlo! Can you breakdown Tchami next?
I'll try to give Tchami a shot in the future!
but are two djs better than only one? - just kidding. Very informative video!
Glad you think so Parox! Always wanna keep educating!
Carl Cox is the number 1, for decades.
Though this is the DJMag number one duo. Carl Cox would be one of the top solo DJs :)
Amazing Video!
Thanks bud! Glad you enjoyed the breakdown!
I’m not sending my son to college anymore. I’m sending him to Your page.
Hahahaha, I'm glad my channel is now a class, but it shouldn't be the ONLY class he takes!
@@djcarlo he will learn how to make money and get all the women what more does he need?
How do these two Dj, along with every MainStage Dj They hit play 😂😂😂
They use the effects and beatmatch too!
@@djcarlo only MainStage Dj that actually DJ’s is Kaskade rest is pre recorded
@@djcarlo Which is still cool because they're all great producers
Would you be able to make a dubstep/riddim mix with tips on how to improvise transitions within the genres? There aren’t many videos covering that topic and the ones that there are are dated
Sounds like a good idea! Mind commenting some techniques you want me to cover?
Drop mixing, doubles, drop switching, and slicing are all good things to look into that Carlo has covered in the context of house and hip hop but the technique works the same.
@@djcarlo yeah of course! As zero has commented, drop mixing, doubles and slicing (idk if that’s the same thing as chopping) are techniques that are very prominent within the genre, I’m also interested in knowing where to place hot cues, how to use low/high pass filtering to help ease into another track, and how to manage energy throughout sets (going from high energy drops to slower, calmer breakdowns)
Sorry if these are quite vague, I’m a producer who’s trying to improve my beginner DJ skills within the realm of bass music. DJs like Stoned level, Excision, Kompany, Calcium, and Soltan are my inspirations so maybe watching clips of their sets might give you an idea of what I’m thinking of.
I'm subscribing for this comment.
Switching genres has always been my biggest challenge, as well.
siempre me aparecían tus videos como recomendaciones pero no los abría por que estaba en ingles, ahora que los veo con subtítulos me he dado cuenta que me perdía de mucho, gracias por los consejos
I'm glad the subtitles work properly Erick! :D
@DJ Carlo Atendido Yoo Carlo could you repost the video "9 Hours of DJ Mixes to Party (Nonstop Megamix 2022)" that was my favorite mix bro
- PS - if it was pulled, you could always just edit out the song that it was pulled for from the video.
It's still here as far as I can see! Let me see what's been happening with it. Got a few comments asking about it.
Yo dj carlo, i want to ask if you could say how Sound of legend mix ? Btw your video are realy cool and you learn me how to djing so thank you 👍
Ps im french so sorry for my grammar😂
I'll need to look into Sound of Legend to find out how they mix, but thanks for the recommendation!
Never heard of these guys before but I’m pretty out of the loop these days. For me Ed Rush and Optical. Nice break down though.
Thanks DarkSouljah! They had a high point, I'd say, in 2015, just to give a timeline of when they were at their peak for me
Great as always carnal! Greetings from cabo!
Thanks man! Appreciate the good feedback! Hope you can share the video to help me out even more!
Thanks man! Appreciate the good feedback! Hope you can share the video to help me out even more!
Hay Carlo. I’m curious, what app are you running on your iPad.? I have just picked up the go2go deck and I’m slowly getting used to it.
That's Algoriddim DJay! :)
How much advertisement do you want? Yes.
Lols, got bills to pay man!
This helps a lot. Thank you!
Glad it does ZynkoRe! Hope you learned something new from the video!
You should do a video on FJAAK, they are my favourite dj duo!
Those guys are super dope! I will.for.sure.check.them.out!
My Idols! 🙌 DVLM
Hope you enjoyed the video then Dave!
haha charly lownoise & mental theo flippin a mixxer upsitedown with water coming out off it !
Oh man, that clip. Was painful to watch haha
I feel like people sleep on Tale of Us. Tale of Us is my favorite duo because of their unique style.
I'll try to check them out for a future breakdown!
can you do a same tutorial but for dj pad hercules controller inpulse 200? because there i don't know how t o change the key and i would like to know
Hmmm, I wouldn't recommend changing the key of the song because that might distort how the track sounds. But to make the song go faster or slower, make use of the pitch faders near the middle of the controller.
Great work my man!
Thanks Blech! Glad you enjoyed the breakdown!
Never heard of these guys before but then again isn't my genre but from my perspective their style clearly works for them yet comes across as lazy, like if good at mixing why not mix back 2 back but this way they can hide that one can't beat match and the other can't handle the pressure of doing the rest, I may well be wrong but that's how it comes across when I see DJ's working together like this
well they just needed to figure out what they can contribute to DJing! glad you still watched my video though :)
Interesting way of looking at it Paul!
You should do a video about Roger Sanchez!
Maybe in a future video bud! Thanks for the suggestion!
Djing together with someone else seems like a lot of fun ngl
It actually can be! Some of my close friends do "duo" sets when they're scheduled back to back in clubs here. Everyone gets a blast out of it!
Dimitry Vegas and like mike Well they were originally not djs if I remember but music producers
They still are! I know they have some sort of history with DJing, but they came together to really produce
Love your breakdowns. Awesome video
thanks man! so happy. you enjoy these types of video!
Thanks Marcrea! Glad you love the breakdowns!
Yo Dj Carl .... Which Speaker and Subwoofers you will recommend if I have a budget of 2k bucks or I can go a lil bit higher ..
Purpose just for myself
I've got some speakers listed here: www.amazon.com/shop/djcarloatendido
But also check out the KRK Rokit series!
@@djcarlo oh thanks
wouldn't djing with bluetooth have latancy issues? as for 2 heads vs one, more creative input.
Jeff Mills just left the building
Everyone's got a different style!
0:21 oh you missed the drop 🤦🤦 holy shiit ... How can you miss thaat Jaw dropping drop ( DVLM , NR - everybody clap)
Keeping it in would've triggered CZcams copyright stuff, and this video could've been taken down haha
@@djcarlo haha 😄
Inkey you see some guy dancing on the mixer lol
Lols, I've seen that. I think it was DVBBS when they performed in Manila.
