It could also backfire as people are so disappointed that they abandon the franchise. Show fans (especially those who watch it in a bar for reaction videos) disappeared faster than I thought. Because these fans only exist as long as the hype. Book fans however still talk about it, decades after the first book was published. You can only go so far after destroying the whole show with your lazy writing

He's got such a naivety and innocence to him with such high hopes of adventure and knighthood, and really gets excited more than ever when he talks about that kind of stuff like any other 8 year old boy would. But much like all of these characters, he's got the tragedy of realizing that he can't become that anymore. I mean the reason Ned Stark's death, the red wedding or Hodor reveal etc were heart wrenching yet totally believable and made for excellent story telling were not because they were shocking.. That was the tip of the iceberg.. It was because we genuinely cared for these characters and this path although horrific and sad made sense. The harmony between the story and characters makes the plot work. It's poetry in motion.
In season 8, it was the equivalent of making the most delicious chocolate cake batter and putting it in the oven for 10s and serving it to the people.. it needed time d&d.. it needed time to bake.. you had everything else.. you had 7 good seasons (4 actually great, other 3 were between ok and good) and you rush past the ending.. wasted potential

Don't consider myself a writer, however when I started being the dungeon master in tabletop rpg games I quickly fell in love with writing stories.
Low magic settings are by far imo the best and most rich.
I try to give a low magic setting to my campaigns but saddens me that all the players I come across are more fond of high fantasy settings.
Low fantasy demands a more mature audience and it's strange that one almost can't find that sense of maturity in rpg gamers even though most are already over 30 years old.
Some people even criticise DMs in pushing the low magic setting down their throats, when it's them that simply don't have the maturity to immerse themselves in a more realistic world.
